Honestly, just the way the bet is phrased—"outcome without a draw"—says it all 🤷

In plain English: a draw (X) isn't even an option here. You’ve got 1 for a home win and 2 for an away win.
If the game ends in a tie, they just settle it as a home win—which is clearly stated in the fine print: Note: Draw (X) results in a 1.00 multiplier)

I really don't get why people bother placing bets—or even try to—on stuff they don't actually understand, or aren't 100% sure what the terms mean in the first place. 🤔
Anyway, Nashville SC is looking solid lately; their last loss was back in late November.

Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad, Over 2.5 goals @ 2.05 (checking DraftKings, didn't look much further)

You'd have better odds playing the Powerball.

If it ends in a tie, it just counts as a home win—which is noted right there: Note: Draw type X - odds 1.00

I don't really get why people bet on things they don't understand or aren't sure about. 🤔

Thanks for clearing that up. In that case, this option doesn't really appeal to me. Since I'm already looking at this game, could someone tell me if this US Open Cup match uses the away goals rule?

Minnesota United vs. FC Dallas Over 3.5 Goals @ 1.75 (on my tracker; haven't checked the others yet) (0-2)

I honestly can't tell you if we're looking at a quiet 1-0 affair or an absolute blowout with six or more, but looking strictly at the league stats, these teams have seen 152 goals across their last 41 matches, which is a massive amount. The MLS has been surprisingly reliable lately when it comes to goal-heavy predictions, so I figured I'd take another swing at the Over 3.5 line today.
For those feeling a bit more adventurous, there's a decent price on the Over 3.5 at 2.20.

The whole "away goals count double" thing is a complete myth—total misunderstanding of how things work.

No, away goals don't carry extra weight; if things are tied, you just head straight into extra time. Look at what happened yesterday with Fulham and Sheffield United—they had to play extra periods after a 0-0 draw, even though the first leg ended 1-1.

I agree, though it’s just a simpler way to put it. I'm a little confused why DraftKings doesn't offer a "final winner" or "to advance" option, because if they did, I'd probably feel more comfortable betting on Nottingham...

St. Louis City SC vs. Nashville SC Over 1.75 goals (0-1)

Sorry for the late call, hope there’s still action left in the live markets. Honestly, I've seen way too many unders today in these preseason friendlies, so I'm expecting someone to finally open things up. Besides, these US sides tend to play high-scoring games, so I think we clear this line easily. For the bold ones out there, maybe push for the Over 2.5, but I'm personally happy just taking this.
Good luck, everyone!

One really ought to master the fundamentals before diving headlong into betting....

In the FA Cup, it’s just a single match. However—and this is where it differs from most other tournaments, I believe—if the score ends in a draw, there are no extra periods or penalty shootouts. Instead, they play a replay at the opponent's stadium. If that second game also ends in a tie, then we move to overtime and, if necessary, penalties...

Dortmund vs. Leverkusen. ODG3+ 1 @ 2.05 (0-1)

I’m back at it again, trying my hand at predicting goal counts, though I think I’m pivoting toward the German Bundesliga this time around. The home manager is out there talking a big game about securing a win and finally breaking this old curse—apparently, they haven't managed to beat these visitors on their own turf in nearly 25 years, which is a pretty embarrassing run. Dortmund hasn't had much luck over the last couple of matchdays, and things aren't getting any easier today since they'll be missing their right back, Korb, while Stranzl and Brouwers are both looking questionable.
On the other side, Hyypia isn't dealing with any major injury concerns and is openly predicting a high-scoring affair.

Projected Lineups

Dortmund
: ter Stegen - Nordtveit, Jantschke, Stranzl, Wendt - Kramer, Xhaka - Herrmann, Arango - Raffael - Kruse

Leverkusen: Leno - Donati, Toprak, Spahic, Guardado - Bender, Rolfes, Can - Castro, Kießling, Son

FC Nordsjaelland vs. Astra Giurgiu | 1 - 2 | Odds: 2.8 (1-0)

So, Astra played a friendly against Strømsgodset yesterday and ended up dropping a 1-0 decision while picking up two red cards in the process. Meanwhile, Nordsjaelland hasn't even stepped on the pitch in a week. I’m calling this one, honestly. Between the fatigue levels for those Romanian guys and the fact that they likely have two players facing suspensions due to those reds, the edge goes to the Danes. If a small-town club from a place like Savannah could somehow pull off an upset against a top-tier Romanian side—which wouldn't exactly be a shock for the Danes either—then why not take the value here? The odds are just too good to pass up.

Without getting bogged down in the betting side of things—but why on earth would they face a suspension for a mere preseason friendly, especially when those cards were handed out during another identical exhibition match?

BM'gladb/vs-Bayer Leverkusen BTTS YES (1.70) (0-1)

Since 2009 (over 10 matches), they've consistently hit both teams scoring, and about 80% of the time it ends up being over 2.5 goals.
Leverkusen has been trading goals lately, while Gladbach just dropped a 3:1 decision last time out.
I guess it’s pretty likely both sides find the net here.

Porto-Ferreira h1 @ 1.55 parlay (3-0)

The home team is sitting pretty in third—only two points behind Sporting and four behind Benfica—and since Sporting and Benfica are facing off today, well... I mean, there isn't much else to say, right? Just hoping they pull this off with at least a two-goal cushion.

Sevilla-Barcelona 2 @ 1.6 parlay (1-4)

So, Atletico choked and Real pulled through... if Sevilla drops this one, Barca ties up with both Real and Atletico and basically wipes that Valencia loss from their memory. It’s pretty unlikely Barca slips up two games in a row, though I can't help that tiny nagging fear in the back of my head—you know, that "oh crap, is this happening to them too?" feeling like what we saw with City—but honestly, I think they'll grind out the win here.

Zwolle-Ajax 2 @ 1.55 parlay (1-1)

Ajax is absolutely cruising at the top with a perfect 7-0-0 record against these guys, and they're sitting four points ahead of Twente. This is the golden opportunity to push that lead to +7. Sure, Zwolle has grabbed four straight wins (counting a cup game), but they're stepping up against a much bigger beast now—someone who clearly has their number based on the stats. I'm banking on this being the end of Zwolle's streak. And please, don't even get me started on the draw option... I'm still traumatized by how Ajax blew it last time by playing it too safe and letting that "bonus" slip away. 🤣

LAFC vs. LA Galaxy
Red card incoming at +5.00 odds

After falling behind early, Barca has managed to flip the script, and now the home side is throwing everything they’ve got at them—which, honestly, just leaves the door wide open for the visitors to exploit those gaps on the counter. It’s basically a recipe for chaos and cards. You can practically feel the tension radiating off the home team; they clearly expected a much smoother ride than this. And let's be real, these guys have a bit of a reputation for losing their cool—they've picked up two reds in their last three matches, which puts them at five red cards in their last seven outings. Definitely watching closely for a blowout here.

Here’s a little nugget for anyone following today’s rematch between Atletico and Real Madrid—you know, the cup semifinal second leg where the home side is staring down a massive 3-0 deficit from the first match.
Real hasn't actually lost at the Vicente Calderon since 1999—which, if you think about it, is nearly 15 years ago.🙏
Since then, they’ve managed two draws and 13 wins... including a seven-game winning streak most recently.

It appears to me that neither Villa nor Costa will be in the starting lineup for the home side. In all likelihood, we’ll see Ronaldo leading the charge. Given the current landscape—with Atletico mired in a bit of a slump while Real is looking incredibly sharp—I’d say a double chance on the visitors, X2, is a perfectly reasonable play.

Since then, they've managed 13 wins and 2 draws (including 7 straight victories lately).

Interesting note: back in '99, Atletico was sitting in 19th place and ended up getting relegated. 🤣
I did a quick dive into their history—their last championship run was actually back in the mid-90s.

And even this stat tells a story.

Both teams play an aggressive, high-octane style—so over 2.5 goals might be the smartest play here.

Atletico missing:😁David Villa (forward, 22/11, 2nd scorer), Diego Costa (forward, 23/20 top scorer), Tiago (midfielder, 15/2), Filipe Luis (defender, 19/0), and Courtois (goalkeeper, 22/0)

Tamworth vs. Hyde: 1 at 1.5 or F2 at 2.3 (expecting 1-1)
Looking at the matchup, we've got the 22nd versus the 24th in the league standings. Tamworth is sitting pretty with 27 points while Hyde is struggling down at 7. It’s pretty obvious on paper, right? Their last meeting back on January 25th was a convincing 3-0 away win for Tamworth, but let's be real—you can't get too cocky when you're dealing with the US fifth division. Anything can happen there.

Wednesday
Stoke vs. Swansea: 1 at 2.6 (expecting 1-1)
Swansea has been absolutely plagued by injuries all season. After that stellar run last year where they actually took home the cup, this season has been a total different story. They even let go of Laudrup, who, if you ask me, was the main reason they were so successful last season. Honestly, they've stayed somewhat decent despite the injury bug, but I think firing him might come back to haunt them. He really knew how to coach a squad that played beautiful football. On the other side, Stoke just beat Manchester City—which isn't exactly a shocker these days—and they put on quite a show against Liverpool too. All things considered, I think they have what it takes to take down Swansea.

Honestly, I think those losers have already checked out of the Cup entirely—they're just dumping everything they've got into the regular season now. This upcoming game could end up being a total nothingburger.

In my book, passing on the Atletico vs. Real matchup is the move.

Real holds such a massive edge here that there's a 99% chance they advance. But honestly? Anything can happen once you're in the thick of it. You could get stuck in a soul-crushing 0-0 draw, or maybe Atletico scrapes by with a gritty 1-0 or 2-1 win. They might come out swinging from the opening whistle only to have Real shut them down, or things just spiral—nerves fraying, someone catching a red card, blah blah blah. It's unpredictable.

Double chance on Real seems logical on paper, but betting that at 1.40 odds? Not worth the headache if you ask me.

Hull vs. Southampton | Southampton 1 @ 2.70 (ss) (0-1)

Let’s start by pointing out that this Premier League season is basically split into two halves: the top tier, led by Southampton, and the bottom tier, currently topped by Swansea. There’s a 9-point gap between these two groups right now.

Up until now, the rule of thumb has been that the top-tier team beats the bottom-tier team, though we've seen plenty of exceptions.

Today, we might just see another slip-up from the "top tier" crowd.

Hull's home record stands at 5-4-3, while Southampton's away form is 4-4-4.

The real metric is how Hull handles top-tier opponents; they sit at 1-1-2. They managed a win against Liverpool (1.12), a draw against Tottenham (1.2), but lost to Manchester United (26.12) and Chelsea (11.1).

They are significantly weaker on the road with a 0-1-7 record, but they aren't playing away today, are they?

On the other side, you have Southampton with a 1-2-3 record. However, their wins came against the three worst teams in the league (WBA, Cardiff, and Fulham), while their draws were against Sunderland and Stoke, and they actually lost to Norwich.

It might be time for another Norwich-style upset, especially since Hull finally broke a goal drought to grab 4 points in their last two matches—scoring three goals, albeit with some help from the refs. Meanwhile, Southampton is unbeaten in five, but those wins were against underdogs, and their draws were lucky escapes involving four goals apiece.

No major absences to report, except for Lovren being out for Southampton.

Prediction sites seem to be leaning toward a draw, but these two clubs have drawn four times in their last ten meetings, which is well above the league average of 23%.

At first glance, backing Southampton looks like good value because Hull's recent results have been sketchy. But when you consider that Hull's home losses came somewhat randomly against Chelsea, United, and Crystal Palace, you have to wonder if Southampton is actually next in line to win in Hull. Personally, I don't think so.
