Just as a matter of course... This week marks the 103rd anniversary of the club's founding. One anticipates a significantly larger turnout in the stands today... I suspect the players will feel a heightened sense of obligation to secure a victory as a tribute to the faithful supporters...

Accrington vs. Scunthorpe 1 @ 2.99 FanDuel (2-3)

Scunthorpe is sitting pretty in second place right now—they haven't lost in 14 straight matches... quite the streak. Accrington is hovering just above the relegation zone, but honestly, they’ve been playing great lately—if they hadn't stumbled so badly at the start of the season, they'd be fighting for the top spot. Their momentum really kicked in right after they beat these guys away last time—that was actually their last loss in the league. On the flip side, the visitors are cooling off a bit, having dropped five draws in a row recently. Plus, they've had a busier schedule than the home team, playing two more games over the last month. There was even some chatter about Beattie potentially leaving to coach over at Oxford—which actually seemed to pull the players together—though he shut those rumors down quickly. All things considered, given the odds, I’m leaning toward the home team...

Mainz vs. Hannover 1 | Odds: 2.10 (ss) | Result: 2-0

If you look at the stats for this matchup, there’s one specific metric that pretty much spells out the outcome: Hannover’s away record is a dismal 1-0-9.

Their only win on the road came against Wolfsburg back on January 25th with a 3-1 scoreline, even though the stats suggested Wolfsburg actually controlled the game. You could call that win a stroke of luck; in ten away games, you have to be incredibly lucky for almost every shot on target to find the back of the net.

When looking at how they perform on the road against mid-tier teams like Mainz, their goal ratio against opponents like Bremen, HSV, Stuttgart, and Frankfurt sits at 6-12. Essentially, while Hannover can manage to score against "weaker" sides, they can't keep a clean sheet to save their lives, often failing to even walk away with a draw.

Meanwhile, Mainz holds a solid 5-2-3 record at home. Their setbacks have come exclusively against top-tier clubs like Schalke, Leverkusen, and Dortmund, with just one draw against Hoffenheim. Their other home wins were handled routinely against sides like Frankfurt, Freiburg, and Stuttgart—teams roughly on the same level as Hannover.

Sure, Hannover could snap this away losing streak whenever they feel like it, but I wouldn't bet on it happening today against Mainz.

Regarding 2014 form, Hannover has started off slightly better. Both teams have two wins in three matches, but Hannover has had a tougher schedule of opponents.

Turnout at the stadium is always massive, gotta respect that. As for the game, I wouldn't bet against them winning—why not? But honestly, I'm still expecting an away goal. Either way, thanks for the heads up.

In my opinion, this is an open game, though I guess I prefer the other option. Maybe a draw at 1.05 odds for the second half? I guess we'll see.Looking at the schedule, this marks their second straight away game. They have a home match against the Dodgers coming up, followed by a trip to play the Yankees, and then they head out to face the Red Sox. Given what's ahead, I guess this is a pretty crucial game for them.
Against S04, things didn't look all that bad, even if I have to say S04 kept us under pressure for everything except those first 15 or 20 minutes. Hannover rarely pushed on the counter like they did during that win over Wolfsburg. They had two chances, but I guess Diouf's reaction was pretty poor in both instances. Still, losing to a Schalke side that's found its rhythm isn't a disaster—they've got what I'd call the third strongest roster in the MLS, and maybe they'll pull something off tomorrow against Leverkusen. I expect Hannover to play a more compact formation today, probably trying to feed the Diouf-Rudnevs duo through those fast wingers, Huzstij and Bittencourt.
Mainz is basically a blue-collar, highly disciplined squad. They seem to prefer setting up a solid defensive shape first, then maybe catching you off guard by driving right through the defense using guys like Müller or Okazaki.
As I mentioned before, this game feels wide open with no clear favorite in sight, so I guess I'll just play it safe with a double chance bet.

Looking at it now, most of these prediction sites are favoring Mainz or a 1X draw, but I agree with you—this could go either way and should be an entertaining match.

Especially since Hannover actually looks better after the winter break than they did during the first half of the season when they couldn't string two decent games together.

If it turns into a shootout, I'm hoping for a Mainz win like 2-1 or 3-2. If it ends up being a more defensive battle, Mainz should walk away with a routine 1-0 or 2-0.

Hard to say for sure, though. I've got Mainz on my parlay so I'm pulling for them, but objectively speaking, any of these outcomes is on the table.

Just for context: the state lottery is offering 20.00 on an away win, while the double chance is sitting at 4.35.

Actually, Bet365 has the away win at 4.50.

It’s practically impossible to miss this one. 🤷
Especially since the LA Galaxy have been struggling against teams like San Jose lately.

It looks like there’s been plenty of chatter regarding Mainz and Hannover lately, and honestly, I think we might have a real three-goal thriller on our hands here. 😁

If you want my take: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE AND OVER 2.5 TOTAL GOALS - 2.05 @ HL (2-0)

Both sides are coming off a loss in their last outing, and if you look at the standings, they’re basically twins—same rank, same goal differential. If you set aside those recent setbacks, both squads actually looked pretty decent once the break ended. You also have to keep in mind that neither of these teams is exactly a powerhouse you can rely on to park the bus or play defensive soccer every week.

image

Looking back at their last four head-to-head matchups, three of them went over the 2.5 goal mark.

Especially since the LA Galaxy have been struggling against bottom-tier teams lately.

Unbelievable. This Galaxy squad supposedly clinched the title after beating Portland 1-0 at home, hitting the post once while totally dominating. Their star striker was clearly the MVP. We all know how gritty Portland can be, and this current underdog they're facing isn't much easier—if they’d had even a bit of luck, they'd have way more points on the board right now. Besides, I think they even managed to snatch a point from Inter Miami this summer..

driftingotter47 said:Hajduk vs. Dragovoljac. Dragovoljac scores a goal at 1.95 odds. Lottery pick.
Round two of the bottom-dwellers' showdown. Dragovoljac’s season has been an absolute disaster—they’ve managed exactly one win in 21 matches, sitting on seven draws and a measly 16 goals. On the flip side, you have the local favorites, who have definitely improved compared to last year, but they’re still essentially a roster of unproven kids. They aren't a powerhouse just yet, even if they've only dropped two games so far. Interestingly, Dragovoljac has found the net in all four head-to-head matchups between these sides. Three of those went to the big club with 2-1 scores, while Dragovoljac snatched one 2-0 victory. For a team currently sitting at the bottom of the table, their scoring consistency is weird; they've only failed to score in three of their last 13 outings. They’ve actually put points on the board against everyone from the league leaders to the mid-tier squads. Meanwhile, the big club hasn't been kept clean in 15 of their last 17 matches. Not much else to say.

EDIT: Just caught the analysis above. We’re on the exact same page.

Jeremy King4 said:The underdog is getting 1.80 odds for this away game against the home favorites.

The kids at the academy deserve nothing but praise this season. They’re playing with enough heart and grit to stay right at the top of the table. It’s a tall order to expect them to go toe-to-toe with a powerhouse like Inter Miami, but given how they've been playing, they definitely deserve the credit. That said, this young squad is incredibly vulnerable. They can concede a goal to literally anyone—even a bottom-feeder like St. Louis City. In their last outing, the guys from St. Louis found the back of the net, just like they have against several other white-clad teams lately. Honestly, they played better than the score suggested, but luck just wasn't on their side. St. Louis actually plays decent soccer. I’ve caught a few of their matches, and frankly, they shouldn't be sitting where they are in the standings. Their roster is thin, injuries are constant, and they're always dealing with suspensions. On top of that, they just haven't had any luck. They have nothing to lose playing in Miami. This isn't a team that’s going to park the bus and pray for a draw; they play an attacking style and will hunt for openings. Between the lack of experience in the local team's backline and the visitors' tactical setup, I wouldn't be surprised if the guests walk away with at least one goal tonight.

Nice work, guys.🙏

I might actually start taking your advice more often. Might even make me some money today. 😉

Saturday, Northern Ireland: Linfield vs. Ballymena Utd | Over 2.5 goals @ 1.45 (Result: 6-0)

Sometimes I just don't get the oddsmakers. To me, this is a total lock, and I find it hard to believe this wouldn't hit. Linfield is basically the Bayern Munich of this league—they win, they jump to the top of the table, and eventually, they end up sitting there comfortably, much like how the Dodgers dominate their division. BallyUtd is a mess right now, sitting at a goal difference of 38:45. Linfield dominates the top tier year after year, and with a scoring record like 57:34, it tells you everything you need to know about this league: goals are everywhere. Head-to-head stats aren't even necessary here because I just don't see an "under" happening in this matchup. These two met in the cup about ten days ago and Bally pulled off a 2-1 win. I’m expecting some revenge today, with at least 3 or 4 goals flying into their net. It's my lock of the day.
Good luck, everyone!

Solid pick - Nice @ 2.15 (ss) (0-0)

Let's start by acknowledging Nice is the home side, which tells you everything about their points split: they’ve banked 25 points at home while scraping together just 5 on the road.

Their home record stands at 8-1-3. They're currently riding a five-game winning streak, two of which happened this year. They did stumble against teams like Atlanta United, St. Louis City, and New Orleans, losing three straight from late November to early December. You can write those off as a month-long slump; they haven't lost a league game at home since.

The only red flag is the scheduling. It's mid-December, and they just played a midweek US Open Cup match against New Orleans at home, losing in extra time. Whether they can bounce back for today's match remains to be seen.

Nantes is mediocre on the road, sitting at 4-2-6. They've dropped three straight away games and have lost four of their last five trips. Earlier this season, they went to face PSG and Chicago Fire and couldn't even find the back of the net.

It's worth noting that Nantes hasn't won an away game against Nice since 2002. This year, they managed a 2-0 win at home back in late September.

More importantly, these two met earlier this year in the League Cup on January 5th and 15th. Both legs were held at Nantes' stadium. Nice took the first leg with a 2-0 win, though they ended up losing the second leg 4-3.

Against mid-tier teams of similar caliber—think Seattle, Portland, or Atlanta—Nantes is inconsistent, posting a 1-1-1 record.

For today's matchup, Nantes is dealing with a massive hole in their lineup. Their star striker is out due to suspension, and he's been their main threat with 9 goals this season. On top of that, they'll be missing their starting keeper and another forward who’s only managed two goals in 19 appearances.

On the Nice side, they're missing their regular left back and their primary playmaker, who has started 24 games this term.

How much these absences hurt each squad is still a question mark.

One final thing: Nantes played recently on February 1st, 4th, and 9th. Even with a week of rest, combining that schedule with an 800-mile flight to Nice might leave them feeling a bit sluggish.

Good luck everyone. Cheers.

Werder Bremen - Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 @ 2.10 (ss) (1-1)

Let’s dive in with Mönchengladbach, my favorite team in the MLS this season. I’ve caught several of their matches lately, and they look like a side that actually knows what they're doing—playing smart, cohesive, and entertaining football.

The stats back that up. Between late October and early December, they ripped through a six-game winning streak. They cooled off slightly right before the winter break with draws against Mainz and Wolfsburg, but an eight-game unbeaten run is objectively impressive by any standard.

As for this year... who knows. 2014 has been a total curse for the Gladbach squad.

They dropped a quiet 0-2 to Bayern Munich on January 24th, followed by a deserved 3-1 loss to Hannover on February 1st. Then on February 7th, they lost 0-1 to Leverkusen in a game that honestly could have gone either way.

So, 2014 has seen them go winless in three starts—0-0-3. It’s time to snap this skid, and there isn't a better opportunity than playing Werder.

Werder is also stuck in a slump this year. In their matchups against Braunschweig, Augsburg, and Dortmund, they managed only one point while being outscored 8-2.

Their home record stands at 3-3-4 with a goal differential of 11-23.

No major injuries to report.

LA Galaxy vs. LAFC / 1st Half Under 1.5 goals @ 1.55 LOTTO (1-1)
In their last big local derby against LAFC, the Galaxy absolutely fell apart in the final ten minutes, blowing a three-goal lead and leaving themselves gutted with injuries. They’re dealing with a massive headache right now because midfielders Vojnović and Erceg are both sitting on yellow cards, plus they’ve lost Rugašević in defense, along with Vidović in the midfield and Bilić up top—though at least Vitaić and Baraban are back in the mix. With the roster looking this thin, most of the guys actually available for today's match are defenders, so you don't even have to guess how the Galaxy are going to try and surprise the Galaxy—they'll likely just park the bus. Honestly, I'm taking the under on 1.5 goals in the first half, because I think the Galaxy can hold off the Galaxy's pressure while they're still feeling fresh, and who knows what kind of chaos will erupt later in the game. The Galaxy just don't know how to play defensive, low-block football, and we've seen that lack of discipline trip them up plenty of times before. Historically, matches involving these two usually end up low-scoring; in their last ten meetings, there were only two games where three or more goals went in, and only two times did we see two goals before halftime—the rest were just zero or one. I don't see any reason to doubt that pattern holding true today, especially with the solid odds the lottery is offering.

LA Galaxy(-3+)-Inter Miami LESS (2,00) (2-1)

We all know Miami basically acts as another farm team for LA. The last four matchups between these two ended with a margin of less than two goals—three of those were by just one goal. So, I guess it’s unlikely we'll see a blowout today, and since the odds look decent, it might be worth a shot.

San Jose Earthquakes-USL Phoenix1 (1,75) (1-0)
This is USL play. San Jose has won two in a row, while Phoenix is coming off two straight losses. San Jose is sitting at the top with the same points and games played as the leaders, so I suppose they have to win today if they want to stay in that title race.

Man City/Away-Chelsea YES (1,65) (2-0)
These teams met in Manchester about 12 days ago, and Chelsea managed to scrape by with a narrow win. I don't think we'll see a repeat of that; instead, I suspect both sides will find the net. The stats back this up too, as their previous meetings usually feature plenty of goals on both ends. Both clubs are looking to bounce back after last week's hiccups to keep their US Open Cup run alive, so maybe there will be some quality plays—and definitely goals.

EDIT:
One riskier pick to wrap things up:
Orlando City(pk)-Columbus Crew 1/2 or 2/1 /(30,0) (2/2)
They've already faced off once this season, and Columbus (who always seems to pull off these upsets, similar to how they handled the last matchup) won via a comeback. I'm not entirely sure who takes it today, but I suspect a turnaround is coming. Orlando lent their keeper to a rival recently, so maybe they'll win something out of spite? On the other hand, Columbus is facing elimination, though a loss might not hurt them much. Still, there's money to be made on a comeback.

Arse/Live/(-1+)-Liverpool VISE (2,00) (1)
After that 5-1 disaster, I guess Arsenal still hasn't figured out how to handle Liverpool's attack. The Reds will probably settle for nothing less than a win, but then again, Arsenal will want to make up for that blowout in front of their home crowd. Maybe we'll see some decent football today with plenty of goals on both sides.

Augs/Nürn/(-1+)-Augsburg VISE (1,70) (0)
Since returning from preseason, Augsburg has taken 7 out of 9 possible points. I suppose they might keep this streak going for a few more games. On the other hand, Nuremberg was only stopped by Bayern Munich from taking all 9 points, so I think they'll find the net today. Even if the head-to-head stats don't look great for us, I believe Augsburg can score more than once and pull off a win against a decent Nuremberg side.

Panio/Giann/dng-Giannina DAJE (1,70) (2-0)
Seems like a safe bet to me. I honestly don't get why the odds are so high for Giannina to score. Panionis has suffered 6 straight losses while Giannina has won 3 in a row. Giannina is sitting 7th and Panionis is down in 15th.
Maybe there are injuries or something else going on that I'm not aware of, but I think it's worth trying to back Giannina to score.🤷

Seattle vs. Portland 2 @ 1.7 & 1/2 @ 25 lottery (1-0)

Man, they’ve definitely taken some hits from the visitors today—lost a few teeth in the process, if you know what I mean—but honestly? They *have* to win these kinds of matchups. It hasn't been easy for them, especially with the field looking like a complete swamp thanks to this nonstop rain; it totally messes with their heads when they can barely get a footing, let alone find any rhythm... it's just demoralizing. Plus, since we're out of the running for the Champions League, everyone’s gotta lock in on the Cup and grabbing that runner-up spot—that's basically non-negotiable at this point. We're sitting 6 points behind the LA Galaxy... okay, fine, they have two games in hand, but we still need to pull this off. Really hoping they head into the away leg with a massive win under their belts..

I might hedge my bets and take the smaller spread if things start looking sketchy early on 😁
