Rhinoplasty: Experiences and recovery tips?

Mine wasn't super asymmetrical before, but it's definitely not perfectly level now either.

Could someone please recommend a skilled surgeon? My nose drifts to one side, I have lumps, a deviation, an oversized tip, and to top it all off, I actually broke it about a year ago. At this stage, my primary concern is the aesthetic outcome, so if anyone knows of a highly experienced surgeon in Washington, D.C., please let me know. 🙂 Is Glumičić any good, or should I be looking for someone more accomplished? Also, does anyone have a rough idea of what the costs might look like?

Instead of having a nose tip like Blanka Vlašić, I ended up with something totally natural, and most importantly, I can finally breathe. If I had it my way, I'd want the tip a little longer just for the look of it, but I get that there's no such thing as perfection, especially when you're dealing with a revision rhinoplasty.

I put myself in the hands of the best surgeon I could find in the country (at least in my opinion, and I did my homework), and my only regret is not going to Zambelli for the very first surgery. He really looks out for me; whenever I have a question (since I haven't been able to make it out to San Francisco yet), he responds, he calls me... he actually cares about his patients and wants us to be happy.

It’s incomparable to my first experience with a surgeon who didn't just ruin my nose aesthetically but also lied about fixing the deviation, only to try and shake me off at the end. Yeah, he even suggested just filling my nose with fillers 🙂

Since I got burned so badly the first time, I'm telling everyone 😁Honestly, you really need to do your homework here. Get a few different opinions before you settle on a surgeon. My best advice? You absolutely have to go see Zambelli for a consultation first. Getting a pro like that to weigh in is worth its weight in gold.

Who did you go to??????? Susan Cooper23 wrote a ton about her experience, so I'd definitely suggest taking her advice to heart. And look, just from a quick consultation standpoint, you really need to wait at least a full year from your last surgery before anything else happens!!!

I have a single inquiry... Does a physician who has completed training in both head and neck plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery actually perform rhinoplasty, or what exactly is their scope? 🙂

Up here in Canada, there’s a spray you can use for longer periods than Operil—it's Avamys fluticasone furoate nasal spray, and it runs about $40.

Greetings! I am inquiring whether it is possible to undergo rhinoplasty at a hospital by paying for the procedure entirely out of pocket, rather than going through my health insurance provider.

I've got my surgery scheduled with Dr. Raguž on February 25th, 2013. 🙂 Honestly, I can't wait! I have absolute, 100% confidence in this doctor. This marks my third nose surgery, though it'll be the first time we're touching up the aesthetics a bit too. 😉

Has anyone here had any recent experience getting nose surgery done in Indianapolis? I’m weighing my options between going to the local clinic to see Dr. Šoša or heading over to the Lega Artis clinic to see Dr. Milenović, but I haven't heard a single word from anyone who's actually gone through it. 🤷

Well, you definitely have options in the USA 😁—honestly, those guys are top-tier when it comes to nasal specialists and can work absolute miracles. That said, every single surgery is its own unique beast, and things can always go sideways—there's just no such thing as a 100% guarantee anywhere in the world.

And I'm sure there's someone great in Europe too... maybe Italy or the United Kingdom... If you're looking closer to home, though, it seems to me like the best experts are right here in America because I know people travel from neighboring countries just to get surgery done here (and by neighbors, I mean folks from the old regional areas. You get foreigners too, but from what I've heard, they're mostly drawn by the fact that it's way more affordable compared to what they'd pay back home).

This sounds incredibly similar to part of my own experience. I never actually found out exactly WHAT that indentation was (assuming that's what it is)—to me, it looks like there's just a "hole in the bone." It’s also on the side where the nose drifts (though less so now than before), specifically in the bony section, near the upper third of the nose. Even after my second surgery, it stayed there. 😢 Admittedly, they offered to fix it by applying a graft over the area, but I never followed through because I could never find the time... and now, it seems unlikely they'll want to go back in and fix it. Basically, I was told the reason it's so noticeable is because my skin is extremely thin (that was the doctor from my second surgery—and since it wasn't his "mistake," but rather the first surgeon's, he has no reason to lie). Also, after the second surgery, something similar popped up on the other side of my nose, just a bit lower and more "subtle," so it's most likely just due to thin skin, which isn't much help at all. :/

But definitely ask her.

By the way, does the skin feel "tacked down" or tight in that area of your nose?

I went looking at the pricing for nose surgery on the EstheticOn site. I guess you could say they aren't exactly cheap about it. Maybe it’s just how things work in this business, but the costs listed there... well, they certainly make you think twice. It's pretty blunt, if you ask me. Just a list of numbers that hit you right in the face.

He’s been mentioned over the last few pages, and honestly? I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole. He absolutely butchered my nose—it was a total disaster—so now I’m stuck facing yet another surgery to fix his mess. I definitely wouldn't recommend him to you.
