Did any of you find that your nasal side bones widened out a month or two after nose pyramid and septum surgery, making it look broader... like a Black person's profile?

They did for me. Now I'm waiting on a second procedure where they’ll have to break them again just to get them back in place... I really hope what you're seeing is just temporary swelling and everything turns out fine.. 🙂

Hey everyone

I’m not here to start any drama or call anyone out, but honestly, the nightmare I went through is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. It started with a little bump on my nose and a tip that tended to droop whenever I laughed. My first surgeon was Duje Ostojic. I was crystal clear about what I wanted—just to smooth out that bump and give the tip a tiny lift—but he ended up giving me this weird "bird beak" look instead.
If I had realized back then that he’d peaked, I never would have gone back to him to fix it, because the result was nothing like what we discussed. A year later, he performed a revision under local anesthesia, and let me tell you, he absolutely wrecked me. Apparently, his "technique" involved thinning the skin from the inside. When he finally took the mold off, my nose was purple and flattened. Once the swelling went down, it looked like a pear. He completely destroyed my cartilage; it was deformed, lacked a defined tip, and was totally asymmetrical. It was just HORRIBLE. Every time I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I felt like I was losing my mind. That "doctor" didn't even offer an apology, and he wouldn't dream of refunding my money until I threatened to make sure every newspaper in town heard about him. I was at my breaking point, so eventually, I gathered enough courage to see the well-known Dr. Glumicic and begged him to try and fix the damage.

It wasn't just the shape, either; my nose was covered in broken capillaries, making it look like I had a permanent alcoholic's nose. I explained everything to Dr. Glumicic, and during our consultation, I actually felt like I could trust him. He seemed self-assured, and when I asked if he could actually repair the damage and if he was willing to operate, he was incredibly blunt. He told me, "Look, I can't fully fix this, and honestly, I wouldn't even agree to operate on you because I know exactly what you've been through."
At the time, I actually felt relieved because he sounded so honest and sincere.
So, he did go ahead with the surgery, but I have to be real with you: it doesn't look much better than before. The asymmetry is still there, and there's still no defined tip. All in all, it's a CATASTROPHE. Of course, he took all the money upfront—some before I even arrived in NYC and the rest right before the procedure. Then, at my first follow-up, his excuse was, "We really struggled with your nose, but you just need new cartilage." To me, that’s just plain rude. He told me before the surgery that there wasn't much that could be done, yet he took the cash anyway and then gave me that line.
The last 13 years of my life have been trashed because of a simple procedure I thought would just make me feel more confident and fix a problem I've had since childhood. Instead, I got a lifetime of misery that I paid for, and I don't even have a proper receipt for the damage done.
Does anyone know an honest, high-quality surgeon who specializes in reconstructive work? I desperately need someone who can rebuild my cartilage because I can't bear to walk around looking like this anymore.

Thanks 😉

I have no desire to criticize anyone, but I wouldn't wish the ordeal I went through on my worst enemy. I had a small bump on my nose, and the tip tended to droop when I smiled. My first surgery was performed by Dr. Duje Ostojic. I was very clear about my goals—removing the bump and slightly lifting the tip—but he shaped it into a "bird beak."
If I had known that was his peak performance, I never would have asked him to fix it, because the result was nowhere near what I requested. A year later, he performed a revision under local anesthesia and completely disfigured me (supposedly by thinning the skin from the inside). When the mold was removed, my nose was purple and flattened. Once it healed, it looked like a pear. He completely destroyed my cartilage; the nose was deformed, lacked a tip, and was crooked on asymmetric sides. It was simply HORRIBLE. Every time I looked in the mirror, I felt like I was going crazy. That "doctor" didn't even offer an apology, and he refused to refund my money until I threatened to tell every newspaper about him. As I said, I lost my mind, and once I finally found the strength, I went to the well-known Dr. Glumicic and begged him to fix it if possible.

My nose wasn't just disfigured; numerous broken capillaries appeared on the surface, so now my nose looks like an alcoholic's. I explained everything to Dr. Glumicic, and during our consultation, I felt I could trust him. He seemed confident, and when I asked if he could actually repair the damage and if he would operate on me, he replied that he couldn't fix it and wouldn't even agree to operate because he knew exactly what I had endured.
I felt relieved because I believed he was telling the truth. He seemed honest.
He operated on me, but unfortunately, I must say it doesn't look much better than before. The asymmetry remains, there is no tip, and overall, it is a CATASTROPHE. Of course, he took the money upfront—part before I arrived in NYC and part before the actual procedure. His explanation at the first follow-up was, "We struggled with your nose, but you need new cartilage." To me, that is pure insolence. I have much more to say, especially since he told me before the operation that not much could be done, yet he took the money only to say that afterward.
The last 13 years of my life have been ruined because of a simple procedure meant to beautify my face and fix a childhood issue. Instead, I received suffering that I paid for, yet I haven't even been given receipts.
If anyone knows an honest, high-quality doctor who could help me—specifically someone capable of reconstructing cartilage—please let me know. I don't want to walk through this world looking like this anymore.

Thank you😉

I am so sorry you had to endure such a nightmare.🙂 🙂
I have been preparing for surgery for a long time, but I just can't... I just can't manage to save enough money.🙂
But so far, at least I have managed to decide who I will eventually entrust myself to when the day comes...
Honestly, from day one, the names Glumicic or Ostojic never even crossed my mind. In my opinion, they are just selling smoke; it's nothing but pure marketing.☕
I made my decision based on choosing a doctor who is at the very top of his field here—that’s my own take, and many of his colleagues agree. I did a lot of research before deciding..😉
So... Dr. Munitic, MD, PhD🙂
First off, he is an ENT specialist, which is crucial. He is a head and neck surgeon with 35 years of experience under his belt. He served as the department head for ear, nose, and throat diseases at Mercury, and interestingly enough, he also performs reconstructive surgery following car accidents, which isn't something everyone can claim to do.😛
Here is the info, Mark Nelson46... I hope this helps. Perhaps. Good luck.🙂

Has anyone here actually gone through surgery for their nasal tip? When I don't smile, my nose seems to droop toward my upper lip, and as I get older, it feels like that downward pull is just getting worse. Does anyone have advice on where would be the best place to handle this and which surgeon I should look for? To be specific, there’s also a small protrusion—not quite a bump, but more like a hard ridge—that I’d love to have smoothed out. Other than that, I wouldn't touch a thing else.

Last night, which was the 8th day after my surgery, I ran a fever of 99.0... I still have it today. My head—specifically my forehead—is aching, and my throat feels sore too. It’s probably nothing to worry about, right?? 🙂

I called the doctor; they should be getting back to me as soon as they can..

I've got a few questions for the folks on here who have already gone through surgery:

How would you describe how you were feeling about 20 days out from the procedure? Like, do you think a person could actually handle a one-hour commute home on public transit after 20 days? I'm talking about those cramped, stuffy buses where you can't even open the windows, and then when they finally do, there’s just this crazy draft blowing everywhere.

If you had the choice, and someone actually offered you a recovery period at a spa resort, how many days do you think you'd want to stay there?

Why do you guys think Blanka Vlasic was able to get a nose like that through social insurance at just any random hospital in our sad little country?

So, I finally went under the knife with Dr. Glumicic for my nose job, and honestly? I am beyond thrilled. I’d recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. And for all you people out there talking trash about him—saying he's "overrated" or whatever nonsense—you seriously have no clue what you're talking about. It's just plain wrong. Everything was top-tier, from the actual work to the service. My nose looks perfect; he did exactly what I asked for. I had this bump, and he smoothed it right out, slightly shortened it, and lifted it just enough. It looks completely natural. Like, nobody even realizes I had surgery because it fits my face so perfectly—straight, but still *me*. Plus, two of my girlfriends had their noses done by him too, and they are absolutely loving their results... So, to those of you spreading fake news and hating on him for no reason: stop it. Dr. Glumicic really is the best. But honestly, my god, some girls come in with noses that are just... well, Lord help us. They expect him to perform some kind of magic trick, but you've gotta get real. If you're actually ready to commit to a rhinoplasty, go to him. It was basically painless, and after a week, I felt like a whole new person. Even getting the packing removed didn't hurt. Most importantly? My nose is perfect. 🙂

If you're deciding on nose surgery, I highly recommend him; it was totally painless, and after a week, I felt like a whole new person. I'm really glad you're happy with your result, but personally? He actually pretty much ruined my nose. It was supposed to be a very minor aesthetic tweak—I didn't even have a huge nose or any crazy expectations. The thing is, Glumicic seems to use a "one size fits all" mold for everyone, regardless of what you actually discuss during your consultation, and that’s just a fact.
Nobody here is trying to bash someone for no reason; I honestly wish he had just done the job right for me.

I can't help but wonder why they are so sweet to people arriving with "difficult" noses, promising everything can be fixed... only to make excuses afterward, saying "well, it couldn't be done," once the results are in.
I think a major issue here is that most surgeons in America are incredibly charming when they're trying to convince you to book a procedure. But once it's over? Well, suddenly nobody is checking in on you.
Also, if you do a little digging and look at what's being done abroad, you'll see that plastic surgery can achieve almost anything—but you have to be realistic and take plenty of time during the surgical process itself.
The claim "like a new person in a week" after nose surgery sounds quite strange to me. Regardless of the type of surgery, it's a massive trauma to the face, which is a very sensitive area. Once the body reacts, it needs real time to recover.

I think a huge part of the problem here in the States is that most surgeons are incredibly charming when they're trying to talk you into letting them operate on you. But afterward? Well, nobody bothers to check in on you.
Also, if you actually bother to Google what’s possible abroad, you'll see that while plastic surgery can achieve almost anything, you have to know what you're doing and realize that the actual procedure takes significant time.
Promising someone they'll be "brand new in a week" after nose surgery sounds pretty bizarre to me. No matter what kind of surgery it is, it's a massive trauma to the face, which is incredibly sensitive, and it needs time to recover.

Exactly! I have to admit, plenty of them spin fairy tales without giving a single thought to facial harmony or what's actually realistic for the patient. Nobody here is attacking private surgeons out of spite; people are just pointing out the complications caused by their specific procedures.
If you end up needing multiple reconstructive surgeries after an aesthetic one, sorry, but that's a massive red flag for me to stay far away.

In hospitals, I've never been told fairy tales; instead, I've been given realistic options and honest conversations. I'm not saying hospitals are necessarily the better choice for everyone, but in my experience, I can confirm there was zero lying about what could be achieved and how it would work.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out once they start putting me back together. 😁 (It's a nasal fracture... very visible. They're doing a full-length reconstruction of the nasal pyramid using an open technique, plus reconstructing the collapsed cartilage at the tip.)

Look, I’m not here to run an ad campaign for anyone, and I’m definitely not interested in getting into some endless internet shouting match with you guys. I’m just saying—there’s really no need to drag him through the mud like this. The guy is easily one of the most famous surgeons in the US, and honestly, he gets huge praise even outside our borders. And hey, I get it, I really do; he can’t be perfect every single time, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But personally, and I’m speaking for my two close friends too, we are beyond thrilled with the results. Everything turned out perfectly for us. Meanwhile, my cousin went to this fancy new hospital to see some "top-tier" surgeon—supposedly the best in the business—and her nose is a total disaster now. She actually has to go back for reconstructive surgery because everything he did was wrong. So yeah, doctors make mistakes, just like they have successes. All I'm trying to say is that if you haven't actually sat in a room with Dr. Glumicic, don't talk nonsense about him or listen to the gossip from people who... well, you know. For me, after just a week, I felt like a whole new person. My surgery was Tuesday, Jan 8th. By Thursday, I already had the packing out. Then the following Tuesday, he removed the mold, and that was it. To be clear, during that entire week, I didn't take a single painkiller. Sure, there was a broken bone involved, and the bruising was minimal and cleared up after ten days, but everything went exactly according to what he told me during those first consultations. I guess it just depends on the individual, though. Anyway, if anyone is seriously considering nose surgery, I’d highly recommend him because I am just so happy with how it turned out. 🙂

Please, if you could just post some pictures of your nose—even side profiles would work, I’m really curious. You can always DM me if you feel awkward posting here. Honestly, I know at least five or six people who went to him, and they all ended up with that same pointy little nose; you can tell from an airplane that they had surgery. Not to mention the huge crowd of our local celebrities whose noses basically scream Glumicic )) ☕

Could you please send me some photos via DM? I won't show them to anyone, I promise. I'm planning on going to him myself, but these recent posts have me feeling pretty confused. Not to be critical, but what you wrote sounds almost too perfect, and I guess I'm just scared. I've been saving up money for three years, so I really can't afford to mess this up. I can't exactly go through it all over again, if you know what I mean. I love his before-and-after shots, but I wonder if everyone is a candidate for those kinds of results—it probably depends on a bunch of factors that are way too technical for regular people to understand.
I would be so grateful if you could send pics, and maybe even some once three months have passed? I figure everything is still pretty "fresh" right now.

Hey everyone... So, tomorrow marks exactly 7 days since my cosmetic surgery. I went with Dr. Glumicic. I spent several years searching for the right place, and after weighing all my options, he was the one who finally won me over. To give you the rundown... My issue was strictly having very thick skin on my nose. He told me straight up that he couldn't just cut the skin and tighten it because it would look completely disproportionate with my facial features. He also brought up breathing issues—if he cut too much, I might not be able to breathe properly. All this to say... when I first saw myself in photos, I thought I looked terrible. But when I compare a photo of my old nose to how I look in the mirror now, the change is definitely there. That irregular shape I had (I used to call it my "country nose") is gone... It was everywhere. I was constantly pulling at it or trying to adjust it so it wouldn't look so bulbous. Of course, part of me wanted those dramatic hills and valleys, like some celebrity, but let's be real... when you have certain facial features, there's only so much you can do. Anyway, it’s been 6 days since the surgery and I’ve already taken the cast off. We all know people say you don't see the real results until 6 months to a year pass... but it feels silly when people (and maybe I'm falling into this category too) judge everything just a few days after the procedure or immediately after the cast comes off, saying, "Oh gosh, it doesn't look pretty." I can't even feel my tip yet... it still feels large, and I know it needs time to swell down... but yeah... my follow-up appointment isn't for another 6 weeks.
Feel free to ask anything... and of course, I can send pictures if you want...
