Rhinoplasty: Experiences and recovery tips?

So, I’ve been reading through everything and it seems like quite a few of you are heading back in for follow-up surgeries because things didn't go quite as planned during the first round 🙂. 🙂 Besides the widening of the nasal side bones, what else has been happening for you guys?

Glumicic is, if you ask me, an extreme surgeon. He swings all the way from producing truly flawless and frankly stunning noses to making massive mistakes that demand a difficult revision..
His approach just isn't my style because you can really tell on the nose that surgery was performed, and I find many of his results look quite similar. Maybe his patients specifically want that look, I guess.. But if he gave someone like Severina such a botched job that she had to undergo a revision, and considering we all know what Blanka Vlasic's nose looks like, I'm not so sure he's the most reliable choice..🤷

Hey everyone, I was wondering—how many of you actually got instructions from your doctor to massage the tip of your nose to help bring down the swelling faster?
And for those who did, how long did it honestly take before your nose finally settled back into its normal shape?

Nobody told me anything about it 🤷 Is this even something you're supposed to do? Honestly, touching the tip feels pretty uncomfortable right now 😕

Are you still dealing with that swelling, and if so, where exactly is it acting up?

It has been exactly 23 days since the surgery, and my stitches have finally started coming loose. I can only say THANK THE LORD, because for the last three or four days, I’ve been breathing in this nauseating stench caused by some old blood trapped in the sutures. 😢

I finally got my cast off on Thursday. My doctor told me that after ten days, I should start with some lymphatic drainage sessions—maybe four or five treatments total. She did mention that if the first one ends up being too painful, I should probably push it back a few days...
I think I read something similar about blowing your nose somewhere on this forum... I can't quite remember which page. I don't recall seeing any specific warning about absolutely NOT touching your nose for, say, several months. Honestly, I have no idea how anyone would even think to blow their nose just ten days after surgery. Mine is constantly running, but I just stick to using Q-tips...

So, how was the transition back to real life for everyone—getting back into work, college, or whatever else you had going on?

Did anyone find it weirdly exhausting having to sit in front of a computer for a full 8 hours again?

It’s been seven days since my surgery and they finally removed the splint. I’ve been back to my usual routine, doing pretty much everything I did before the procedure. The only real difference is that you have to mess around with your nose a few times a day to clear out the crust so you can actually breathe, and use some saline spray to keep things cleaning itself up slowly. Other than that, life is just life...

Ten days ago, I underwent nose surgery. Since they had to break the bone, I’ve been left with this massive lump that definitely wasn't there before. The doctor claims it'll eventually flatten out, but honestly, looking at how huge it actually is, I’m having a hard time believing him. Has anyone else here dealt with something like this? I’m feeling pretty desperate right now...

I’ve been home for three days now. I think my procedure was on Friday, so I had the weekend to finally get back to myself. But honestly, until those tampons were out, I could barely function during those three days. The swelling was intense, and the bruising was pretty heavy too. At least the holes have closed up now, and I'm feeling slightly more like someone who could actually head into work or class the next day... I don't know how people do it. Once the tampons come out, everything feels a lot easier. I don't use any harsh cleaning solutions or anything; I just apply some ointment to the area inside...
I'm still feeling pretty fresh... I don't feel much pain... though there's saliva everywhere...🙂)

It’s been 5 weeks now, and I’m still feeling pretty swollen, especially right on the tip of my nose and around the side of the bone... I think it's because the skin there looks really shiny 🙂

So where exactly is this bump located? I’ve got one too, but I also developed this hump I never had before. It hasn't gone away yet, even though my doctor says it might eventually subside 🙂Are you dealing with a hump or just a little bump somewhere on your nose?

I actually have a massive hump right where the bone joins, just slightly below the bridge of my nose. Was yours quite large too? How long has it been since your surgery? I'm really hoping it at least shrinks down, because honestly, I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't...

I didn't actually have a broken nose, but this bump popped up exactly where people usually get one—a spot I definitely didn't have before 🙂 It was actually a bit smaller right when I first got my cast off, but unfortunately, it's gotten bigger now. It doesn't look like it's going anywhere, so I'll probably have to head back in 🙂

I'm not sure. My bone is fractured. It looks pretty rough, and honestly, I have zero desire to leave my house.🙂

That’s exactly how I felt at first, too, but you eventually just get used to it... what is what is, right? Of course, we’d all be much happier if we were actually satisfied with the results, but... 😢So, where did you have your surgery, or rather, which doctor did you see?? I’m currently stuck in this waiting game, just trying to let six months pass before I can even think about fixing this disaster. ☕I really hope you don't end up in the same boat I am.

Honestly, it’s one of those procedures that looks absolutely terrifying when you first see it, but after a few weeks have passed, most people find themselves feeling pretty (maybe even extremely) satisfied with the whole thing. 😉
It’s looking pretty likely, and honestly, I bet you're going to find yourself in the exact same boat. 🙂

Just checking in. Have you dealt with anything like this? I didn't have any swelling or bruising at all and felt like I was recovering perfectly fine... until today, when I finally took the bandage off and saw the reality of it. Shocking...
So, here’s where things stand... I’ll probably be walking around town covered in bandages for a few months until this finally settles down...🙂

I went to see a private specialist to deal with my function first and foremost, and while I was at it, some aesthetics... ended up paying 15,000.00. 🙂
