Hey, can someone please walk me through this? I’m looking at how this is set up in the sportsbook, and honestly, I always mess up these spreads and moneylines...

+7.5/New Jersey-LA Clippers Thu, 2:00 AM 1.85 1.85

So, if I want to take the away team here, I'm betting on the two, right? 🤷

I know it sounds like a pretty silly question, but last time I tried something like this, I ended up totally broke because I misread the line. I figure it's better to ask and look a bit clueless than to just be clueless and lose my money. 😬

+7.5 / New Jersey vs. LA Clippers, Thurs, 2:00 AM | 1.85 | 1.85

So, if I take the two, that's what I'm doing, right? 🤷

I know it's a pretty amateur question, but last time I tried this, I ended up losing my shirt because I misread the line. I'd rather ask and look silly than just be wrong. 😬

If you're copying the spread pick, then yes, you're taking the two. That means New Jersey gets 7.5 points added to their total. Essentially, you and the original poster are betting that the Clippers won't win by more than 7 points—meaning they need to cover that 7.5 margin.

How intriguing...

"I'm just playing with a lot of confidence right now," Josh Smith remarked after dropping a game-high 27 points. "My teammates are coming my way, and I realize they're leaning on me to step up my scoring more than they used to. They need me to be there, and I feel a deep responsibility not to let them down."
"Since we're playing without Joe and Al, he's become our primary option," Larry Drew noted. "We're going to funnel the offense through him as often as possible and trust that he'll make the right decisions. Honestly, his performance has been nothing short of phenomenal."

graniteotter6 said:If you're following the player prop, yeah, you're betting on the two, which means the spread is being adjusted by 7.5 points. So, I guess both you and the player are basically banking on the Lakers to win by at least 8 to clear that 7.5 line.

👍

I mean, whatever, I don't really care too much. It's just one of those things where you try to be sure about what's certain, I guess. Thanks 😉

Nicholas Chase34 said:Regardless, I’ve managed to settle on my play of the day:

New Jersey Nets vs. LA Clippers
pick: LA Clippers -7.5 @ 1.85
unit: 8/10

I am firmly siding with the Clippers here, primarily because their sheer dominance in the paint creates a massive disparity between these two squads. Honestly, if the Nets had Brook Lopez in their starting lineup, they might actually stand a fighting chance; as it stands, they look quite limited. After watching how these two teams matched up inside during their first meeting, I feel I have a sufficient sample size to make this call.
image

As we observed, the Clippers' strength lies in the interior, particularly when it comes to finishing at the rim. The Nets simply lack a presence capable of consistently converting layups or driving for dunks. That deficiency was glaring in their first game, where they fell behind by 18 points—though they did manage to claw some of that back through perimeter shooting. It reminds me of how the Heat dismantled them in their last outing; the Nets could only muster 16 points in the paint compared to the Heat's 34.😲🤷
image

Even though Chris Paul wasn't in that previous matchup, Chauncey Billups did a respectable job holding things down. Now, the situation has flipped, and I suspect Paul will handle his responsibilities even more effectively than Billups did.
In my estimation, this represents a significant edge for the Clippers that the oddsmakers haven't fully accounted for (I guess so). Consequently, I am confident in a visitor victory by at least 10 points. Any team with even a modicum of ability to attack the rim tends to blow the Nets out by large margins. I should also note that the Clippers struggled miserably from the free-throw line in that last game, shooting a mediocre 19-for-35 (54.3%). If they tighten up there, I fail to see how the Nets can possibly stop the "Lob City" onslaught. For those looking for higher risk, the larger spread of 13.5 @ 3.3 might be worth a shot.☕

Regarding the play, would you mind sharing which site you use to track these? Thanks a million.
I'm a newcomer to this forum, but I've been following the NBA for a long time, so I hope to contribute and help others out once I get my bearings...

NBA experts, I need some insight here 🧐

Is Bosh playing tonight? I need to know if I should put my money on Wade instead.

How solid is Parker’s defense right now—can he actually hold Lin to under 10 points?

Does Denver have any real interior presence? Can they actually stop Jamison when he’s playing this well?

And can Gay really shut down Ellis to under 24, or is he just letting him run wild?

Thanks in advance for the help

Is Bosh playing? Just trying to figure out if I should take the under on Wade.

How's Parker looking defensively? Like, can he actually hold Lin to something like 10 points?

Does Denver have any decent rim protection? Can they actually stop Jamison, since he’s been absolutely killing it lately?

And can Gay actually shut down Ellis for under 24, or is he just letting him run wild?

Thanks in advance for the tips!
:clapping:

Yeah, Bosh is in. And look, obviously Parker can keep Lin in check—hell, I probably could too. Denver’s got solid rebounding defense, but I’m not so sure about the under; that guy is on fire right now. He might pull it off, but he doesn't have someone like Curry out there to bail him out, so he'll probably end up taking a ton of bad shots.

Man, those sites of yours are legit; they’ve actually been a huge help to me lately 😍
Anyway, if anyone has a link, maybe shoot me a DM? I remember seeing this one forum where some guy was constantly crunching the numbers on average team scores, which helped me out when I was betting overs, unders, or even just picking winners for the first quarter.

By the way, if anyone has a link, maybe send me a DM? I am looking for a specific forum where someone used to track average points scored by teams. I was using those stats for over/under bets and first-quarter winners.

I am also searching for that same link, but I just can't remember which site it was on... though I know I used it before... please.

Hey everyone. I decided to put some money on Oklahoma against Phoenix today. I was hunting for a specific set of odds, and this matchup seemed to fit the bill, so I figured I'd run it by you all and see what you make of the pairing. 🙂

I'm seriously stoked to hear they’ve been working out for you, 😁

As far as that site goes, is there any chance you're thinking of http://www.teamrankings.com/nba-betting-picks/😕
?
That's my go-to spot for digging into over/under stats, team trends, quarter breakdowns, and pretty much all that other random stuff you need to track. 🤷

It wasn't exactly a massive trending topic on the boards, I guess, but hey, this stuff is pretty interesting regardless.

Personally, I’m really digging this pick. I haven't placed the bet myself yet, but considering his current form at the wall and the caliber of the keeper he's facing, those 18 points look like a very reachable number.

What’s the consensus on Garnett and Pierce playing tonight?

Thanks!

Look, Pierce has been looking solid these last couple of games, but honestly, his numbers always seem to tank whenever they play the Sixers, right? 🤷,and as for Garnett, I mean, he’s been hitting the over pretty consistently lately, but then out of nowhere in the last game, he only takes seven shots? Like, seriously? 🤷,so I don't know, maybe just skip this one because these guys can be super hit-or-miss depending on the night, you know? 😉

Thanks!

Pierce is looking sharp, but he's facing Iguodala, who I’d say is basically the best defender in the league at those wing positions. It's a toss-up, but since Boston has plenty of other weapons, they won't have to force it through Pierce, so I'm leaning under. Garnett has a tough matchup too, though he could always go over because, well, he's KG—not something I'd bet on. Personally, I'm expecting the total to stay under 177.5, so logically, everyone should be an under play for me. 🤷

The Clippers, man, the Clippers.

🙄

They’ve got a talented roster, but they just can't seem to stay focused... 🙄

Seriously, Bulls fans, how does a guy like Gooden—who hasn't even made a decent play all season—suddenly drop a performance like this? 😢

And don't even get me started on Rose. He was shooting 4/4 in the first quarter, but now he’s sitting at 7/21. It's just abysmal. Absolutely terrible.

My apologies. It seems whenever I try to offer an actual analysis, everything falls apart. 🙂
