After a winning streak, I’m looking to keep the momentum rolling... here is my slate for

granger(18,5) - over ...I just hope he doesn't get blown out early and spend half the game riding the pine. Otherwise, Granger can hit this number all by himself.

stoudemire(21,5) - over ...Anthony isn't quite at 100% yet, but it looks like Amar'e is finally finding his rhythm. They absolutely need this win against a limited Detroit squad, plain and simple.

curry(18,5) - over ...The kid has had nothing but bad luck with injuries, but he's back to his old self. I expect a high-scoring affair against Sacramento—well over 200 total points—and Curry clearing this line easily.

galinari(18,5) - under ...This is my riskiest play. They're facing Memphis, and I suspect Allen and Gay will do a solid job of shutting him down. The total is set above 200, but I'm anticipating a much grindier game, regardless of how much Denver likes to score.

shadowjackal27 said:If a player misses more than 20 free throws over three games, he has no business being on the court—period. Toss in those abysmal free throw percentages, an offensive game plagued by turnovers, and picking up two quick fouls in four straight games while barely seeing 30 minutes of action... what is there even to discuss? This is why I maintain that his value lies entirely in his defensive work. If he weren't the elite defender and rebounder he is, he wouldn't even be playing in the NLB, let alone the NBA. But he is—which is exactly why they tolerate the struggles at the line.

🤦 🤦 🤦

Watch Orlando play once or twice this season and you'll realize Dwight Howard is the most overrated center in league history. 🤦

Edit:

I see you deleted that...

Howard is convincingly the best center in the league and arguably the best defender in the league. Offensively, he’s perfectly capable; there isn't a single team in the NBA that wouldn't want him on their roster. But fine, there is no point in continuing this explanation...

Leave your betting instincts at the door and face the cold, hard reality.

Watch Orlando play just once this season and you'll realize immediately that Howard is the most overrated center in the league—maybe ever. 🤦

Edit:

I see you deleted that...

The reality is Howard is convincingly the best center in the league and the best defender, too. Offensively, he's solid, and there isn't a single team in the league that wouldn't kill to have him on their roster. But fine, there's no point in arguing further...

Try to separate your gambling instincts from reality once you miss out on a few bets.

Just go ahead and facepalm. 🤷

First off... I wasn't even betting on Howard yesterday. That's why I was talking about Mehmet Okur, who wasn't even an option. And for the record, I follow Orlando more closely than anyone else here. At least over the last few seasons... I was actually sorry to see Gortat leave the Magic.

I wrote that he is excellent defensively... 🤷
But when a player misses that many free throws in every single game 🤷 that’s not exactly a minor issue...

You have your opinion, and I have mine. 🤷

So by that logic, I guess Shaq was barely good enough for the NBA either, unless you factor in him being 7 feet tall and weighing 330 pounds—because let's be real, his free throws were absolutely pathetic... I mean, wtf 😕
By that same token, if we're talking defense, I’d probably put Dwight Howard in the top 5 centers of all time... strictly for the defensive side of things. For the offensive stuff? Yeah, I'm with you, he still has a ton of work to do—Andrew Bynum was actually better there. On the other hand, I honestly gotta admire how Howard hasn't knocked someone out yet, considering how much he gets beat up. I mean, seriously, some team recently was intentionally hacking him so hard—and even when he didn't have the ball, just as soon as Orlando swapped centers, he ended up setting a record for missed free throws... you can't play like that, man, you can't just play so sporadically...

First off—I wasn't even betting on Dwight Howard yesterday. That’s why I brought up Mehmet Okur, who wasn't even in the conversation. Look, I follow Orlando more closely than anyone else—at least over the last few seasons. It was a shame when Marcin Gortat left the Magic.

You have your opinion, and I have mine. 🤷

Sure, Gortat is a very solid player—I agree there—and it was a loss for Orlando when he moved on.

But damn it, it’s blindingly obvious that Howard is the best center in the league. He’s convincing even now, while everything is going sideways and he's looking to get out of that mess in Orlando. This team deserves a guy who actually fights for a title, not a bunch of scraps like a worn-out J. Rich, Jordan Duhon, Nelson, and the rest.

Besides, the guy hasn't missed a single game due to injury in the last several seasons. Last year, if I recall correctly, he only sat out once—and that was due to a suspension.

Those free throws are killing him, especially this season, but what can you do? He more than makes up for it with offensive rebounds. He dominates on both ends of the floor.

That isn't an opinion; those are facts.

An opinion would be if you claimed that Andrew Bynum (or Michael Jordan, or any other center) had a shot at being better than Howard in his career.

The stats back Howard up—his field goal percentages, his rebounding averages from previous seasons, two or three consecutive Defensive Player of the Year awards, and his All-Star appearances. As I see it, even this season, he seems to have the highest fan vote of any player in the All-Star voting.

I’d put Dwight Howard among the top 5 defensive centers of all time... as far as defense goes. For offense, I agree he needs a lot more work; Andrew Bynum was better there. On the other hand, I admire how Howard hasn't knocked anyone out yet, despite how much he gets beat up. Some team recently was intentionally fouling him so hard that when he didn't even have the ball, right after Orlando moved on from their center, he ended up setting a record for most free throws attempted... he needs to toughen up; you can't play this game being that soft.

I agree regarding the defensive side; that's what I was saying. 😉

But the guy simply has to work on his free throws... ☕ 🤣

I get that centers generally struggle with free throws... but they should at least try to bump that percentage up to 50-60% per game. 🤷

Man, everyone was losing their minds yesterday because of Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh, but honestly, why even get worked up? It is what it is, sometimes you just have one of those days where nothing goes right, you know?🤷

Kevin Garnett over 13.5 @ 1.85
Amar'e Stoudemire under 21.5 @ 1.85
Cleveland over 86.5 @ 1.85
Toronto over 85.5 @ 1.85
Granger over 18.5 @ 1.85
Andrew Bynum under 16.5 @ 1.85
New Jersey under 89.5 @ 1.85 SS

6/7 system slip☕

Paul Pierce under 20.5 @ 1.85
Al Jamison over 15.5 @ 1.85
Joe Johnson over 18.5 @ 1.85
DeRozan over 14.5 @ 1.85

Just one little public ticket for you guys:

Amar'e Stoudemire over 20.5
The Detroit defense looks pretty soft in the fourth quarter, which is usually when things get real, and most players really capitalize on that. Amare is struggling a bit with his jumpers right now because the New York Knicks just don't have a true floor general to run those Pick and Roll or Pick and Pop plays effectively, at least not until Baron Davis gets back on the court. That said, Mel is likely looking doubtful for this one, so the whole vibe really rests on Amare's shoulders—especially since he already tore it up against Detroit earlier this season, dropping 22 points (shooting 8-15 from the field and 6-8 from the line).

Joe Johnson over 18.5
The Hawks leader basically runs the show for them, and honestly, he shouldn't have any trouble against Toronto since he's always had their number.
Johnson, who leads the Hawks with 18.6 points per game, has averaged 30.0 in his last three games against Toronto.
image

Al Jamison under 15.5
Trying to score against Kevin Garnett and Bass is like trying to run through a brick wall; Jamison is going to be totally neutralized.

Golden State vs Sacramento under 199.5 @ 1.85
Indiana vs New Jersey under 190.5 @ 1.85
The lines they set are just way too high, easily by about 3 or 4 points for each of these matchups.☕

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I see you guys follow the NBA and get your bets in, so I figured I'd join the fray... Today, I noticed the spread is sitting at 200.5 for the Lakers vs Charlotte game... That feels way too high to me, like they're overshooting by at least 15 points... What do you guys think?

Which sportsbook is offering a line like that?

That line is just straight-up inflated; if I were the bookie setting the spread, I would've put it closer to 185.5

Grab it while you can before they pull it off the board. 🤷

I'm with you there, honestly, it should be sitting right around 185 points. The Lakers are putting up about 94 at home while giving up 88, whereas Charlotte is averaging around 86.8 when they're on the road, so it's a total bummer that kind of line wasn't available this morning.🤷,I really don't see this going over 180 points because the Lakers barely touch the 100 mark these days, and Charlotte is absolute trash on the road, especially since they're missing their top two scorers, Henderson at 15ppg and DJ Augustin hovering around 14.5ppg🤷

At DraftKings. Didn't say it right away because I wasn't sure if we're allowed to mention specific sportsbooks... 🙂 It's still live. I put a single bet on $67, so we'll see how it goes...

I just dropped 200.5 at Stanley. My wallet is officially empty, but hopefully I can empty theirs out a little tomorrow.
