Toronto Raptors vs Indiana Pacers 2 1,57
4/10

Unlike the Washington Wizards mentioned earlier, Indiana actually has some veteran presence, and they look like a legitimate powerhouse this season. They dismantled Detroit easily, and I fully expect a similar blowout tonight. I’m specifically looking for them to absolutely dominate the boards against the Raptors...

Atlanta Hawks vs Washington Wizards 1/1 1,50
5/10

The Hawks rested their entire starting five last night, and now they're hunting for a seventh straight home win. Given they're grinding through nine games in just 12 days, they can't afford to drop one to a squad like Washington. On the flip side, the Wizards probably haven't even processed how they blew that lead against New Jersey yet, proving once again they lack the maturity to handle the big moments (as I noted in the preview)...

Both of those went south last night 🙂

Some low-level sports junkies are also busy dissecting player statements.

Rose dropped down to 1.70.

EDIT: A bit of turbulence regarding the Durant-Westbrook : Quote situation:

Thunder notebook: Russell Westbrook struggles after altercation with Kevin Durant

Russell Westbrook let his emotions get The Best of Him Wednesday Night, resulting in a heated exchange with Kevin Durant on the bench during a second-quarter timeout.
Westbrook simply never found his rhythm again. He ended the night with what was arguably the poorest performance of his entire career—just four points on a dismal 0-for-13 shooting night, alongside six assists, three rebounds, and four turnovers.
The friction seemed to ignite with only 3 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter. After driving into the paint, Westbrook kicked the ball out to Thabo Sefolosha in the corner. When Sefolosha declined a wide-open three-point attempt, Westbrook snapped, yelling at Sefolosha to "shoot the (expletive) ball."
Sefolosha and several teammates, including Durant and center Kendrick Perkins, tried to settle Westbrook down during his subsequent trip to the free throw line. However, those emotions boiled over toward the bench just a minute later.
Durant appeared to try and calm Westbrook once more, but Westbrook seemingly took offense to the way Durant approached him. The two players began shouting at one another and eventually had to be pulled apart.
Durant patted Westbrook on the head as they headed back onto the court following the timeout, and the pair appeared to be back on the same page for the remainder of the game.
“We’re going to disagree sometimes, like I’ve always been saying,” Durant said. “But I’m behind him 110 percent, and he’s the same way with me. And you seen when we came on the floor we clicked and everything started to work from there.”
Westbrook was unavailable for comment following the game. It looked as though he had already cleared out of the locker room before the media arrived.

Before heading to bed last night, I also took Chris Paul over 17.5 on a 2/10 split—missed that one, which explains where we stand now:

3w/3l ; +2.69 units; ROI: +13.45%

Houston vs San Antonio

Pick: Over 197.5 total points

Odds: 1.99

Stake: 4/10

We have a matchup here between two high-level shooting squads. For the Spurs, this season might be their final shot at a title—given that Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili aren't getting any younger. Last year was a letdown; despite a strong regular season, they folded in the first round of the playoffs. They’re looking for a similar start this year, hoping to string together a few wins early on. Their core strength lies in the trio of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker. They complement each other perfectly, with Patty Mills and Richard Jefferson providing support, alongside younger pieces like Blair and Hill. Last season, the Spurs were arguably the best three-point shooting team in the league, hovering near 40% from deep during the regular season.

The Rockets are a solid group, though they dealt with some bad luck last year playing in a brutal West—finishing 43-39 and still missing the playoffs. Their main weapons are the sharpshooter Kevin Martin and the reliable Argentinian Luis Scola playing the four. Beyond them, the rest of the Rockets roster is well-balanced and dependable. They are particularly tough at home, where they tend to put up big numbers and prove difficult to beat.

Both teams excel offensively (both averaged north of 104 points per game last season), while their defenses are decent, if nothing more. Historically, games involving these two in Houston tend to be high-scoring affairs. Given all that, clearing 197.5 points shouldn't be much of a stretch.

Dallas Mavericks vs Oklahoma City Thunder...
Think Dallas can pull this one off and make it work for them?
Asking for my sportsbook bets, because honestly, seeing Dallas at 3.3 feels like a total insult to what they're capable of.
Feels like they're just trying to bait people into betting on the underdog...

Asking for betting purposes, because 3.3 odds on Dallas feels like they're being slept on.
Basically, looks like people are just biased toward the home team.

Sure they can, but those odds are legit. They reflect how things actually look after these first few games.

Hey everyone.

Can someone break this down for me? Orlando vs New Jersey; (+11.5) New Jersey, (-11.5) Orlando Magic

Could someone please clarify what this actually means... Orlando vs New Jersey; (+11.5) New Jersey, (-11.5) Orlando Magic?

It seems to be just a standard point spread.🤷
To me, it looks like the numbers might be pulled from two different sportsbooks.

Basically, you can either bet on Orlando winning by 12 or more, or you can bet that New Jersey won't lose by 12 or more.

Since I haven't had much luck lately with tickets sitting in that 2.0 to 2.5 odds range, I figured I might try my hand at one involving a total of 27 points for the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston-San Antonio matchup. Everything else here is really just going off of pure gut feeling... though, if I’m being honest with myself, I probably wouldn't even bet ten bucks on this based on intuition alone. But hey, it's the holidays, so why not? 😉

It probably looks like this:
New Jersey Nets +11.5
Orlando Magic -11.5

If you bet on Orlando, you win if they cover by at least 12. If you take the New Jersey Nets, you win if they pull off the upset or just lose by 11 or less.

It actually says: New Jersey Nets @ Orlando Magic - Orlando Magic (-11.5)

New Jersey Nets (+11.5) @ 1.86
Orlando Magic (-11.5) @ 1.95

At this rate, I won't even be able to figure out a basic point spread soon. 🤣

Let's try it this way... here's how this handicap is set up:
Orlando Magic (-11.5) @ New Jersey Nets

If the final score is 92-80 and you bet on the Orlando Magic, you win because 92 minus 11.5 is 80.5, which is more than 80. If you bet on the New Jersey Nets, you lose.

But if it ends 91-80 and you went with Orlando, you lose since 91 minus 11.5 is only 79.5, which falls short of 80. In that case, betting on the Nets would mean you win.

Orlando-New Jersey 2 @5.0
Sacramento Kings - Chicago Bulls @ 3.6
LA Lakers-NYK 2 @2.5

@45

Bet365

Orlando is shorthanded, plus Dwight Howard is playing through some issues. Sure, the Nets aren't exactly great either—they're missing Brook Lopez, who's pretty much their main guy alongside Deron Williams—but at +5, it’s worth a look. 😲
Sacramento Kings handled the LA Lakers easily, and Chicago looked sluggish right out of the gate. That wasn't some massive win for the Bulls—it was basically just the Kings making a mess of the Lakers. The New York Knicks lost to Golden State yesterday, but honestly, I think this squad is solid enough to beat anyone. We just lack consistency. Plus, the Lakers are definitely feeling it without Andrew Bynum playing these early games. It could go either way, so I’m just leaning toward the underdog with the better odds.

Alright, got it. 🙂 I'm putting my money on the New Jersey Nets +11.5. I don't see Orlando covering a double-digit spread here.

Might be worth a shot

Bet365

Kevin Durant under 31.5 @1.85
Russell Westbrook over 21.5 @1.85

They’re beefing, so RW might end up passing less and just hunting his own shots instead... @3.42
