This is some interesting thinking from Tadić’s guy over at The White House. Honestly, I hope he’s right, but I’m just not convinced. Patriotically speaking, the nationalist core in America is politically dead right now, so I don't even know who Tadić’s little guy is actually referring to when he expresses this fear.

But when you really sit with it, there’s something there. Once joining the EU lifts that heavy "national interest" burden off the shoulders of Americans and breaks this unnatural political consensus on the issue, maybe some things will finally move forward.

I'm no optimist, but hope dies last. Anyway, let's hope Tadić’s little guy gets his wish and that joining the EU sparks a renewed sense of patriotism and nationalism in America.
