It looks like those Gigabyte cards come heavily Overclocking-ready, which explains why they're asking for a premium.
I was actually leaning toward that MSI TwinFrozr II myself—the reviews on it are solid. It’s just a shame that at Micro Center it’s priced way too high, whereas you can find it much cheaper at other retailers.

Just so we’re all on the same page here, clock-by-clock, the GTX 560 is about 10% faster than the GTX 460... honestly, the GTX 560 is basically just a GTX 460 running at higher clock speeds (kind of like those Overclocking models you see everywhere)

That’s exactly what I was thinking regarding that MSI TwinFrozr II; the reviews are solid. It’s just that at Micro Center, the price is steep, though you can find it much cheaper at other retailers.

Hold on, hold on—you have to make sure the box actually says "Ti."
The GTX 560 TI (that's the more powerful one, right? $0.54)
Even the weaker version without the Ti is a few dozen bucks cheaper depending on where you shop.

I'm actually hunting for that "GeForce 6600 GT with 256 MB", though that other card might do the trick too... plus, you can't really argue with the price...😉

Why pick that one? For just a little more, you could grab a better card from a newer generation.

Kyle Sanchez4 said:why that one specifically? you could get a better, newer generation card for just a little more money

Current setup:

Motherboard: Soltek SL-KT880E-GR/R/RL (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio)
Processor: AMD Athlon XP, 1917 MHz (11.5 x 167) 2600+
Current graphics card: RADEON 9000 SERIES (128 MB)
RAM: 1.5gb ram (ddr1)

I don't think I could actually make use of any "newer" generation card anyway, and I'm a bit short on cash for any major upgrades right now...😉

Aha! We're talking about an AGP graphics card here—that's a much bigger headache than the processor itself. You really need to be specific, because if you aren't, you'll end up accidentally buying a PCI-E card instead!
First off, spending money on a GPU for a rig like this isn't exactly the best investment. And honestly, limiting yourself to one specific card makes it even tougher.
Something like a Radeon 2400 or maybe an x1950, though in my opinion, spending anything more than $50 on such an old machine is just throwing money down the drain...

Honestly, I feel bad dropping more than $67 on this absolute junk heap too, but I'm stuck working with it for at least the next two months 😉
Basically, I just need anything that can actually run http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Tanks

Hey there.
I'm thinking about picking up this graphics card because I really want to play some newer titles like COD4 or PES... but honestly, I'm a bit lost here. Is this thing actually powerful enough to handle modern games? 🤷
Can someone please break it down for me? 😕

A few ground rules if you want actual help:

Are we talking AGP or PCI-E?
What does your current or upcoming build look like, and what kind of power supply are you running?
What resolution are you playing at?
What’s the budget? How much are you willing to drop?
Which retailers are you looking at? Best Buy? Micro Center?
If you have any other specific requirements, just lay them out there.

Hello everyone. I have a Dell OptiPlex Small Form Factor and I am looking for a compatible low-profile graphics card to replace the integrated one, as it struggles with even moderately demanding games. I have attempted to use several cards already, but none were compatible. I am open to either AMD or NVIDIA, provided it works and has 512MB or 1GB of memory without exceeding $133. Perhaps someone here has encountered a similar issue or knows which specific card would work...

-Motherboard: Dell
-DDR3, PCI-E, x16

GT 430 low profile:

http://www.amazon.com/s?k=30+low+profile

edit: Honestly, you're better off hunting for a low profile 5570; it actually packs a punch. If you can scrape together a little more cash, aiming for a 5670 would be the move—that's pretty much the ceiling for what'll fit in that case.

I’d highly recommend the Sapphire HD 5570. Honestly, considering its size and what you’re paying, this card is an absolute steal. My brother actually has one in his rig—paired up with a Core 2 Duo T7400 mobile processor—and the performance is surprisingly solid. He’s been running > at full HD resolution, and it stays buttery smooth on medium settings. If I remember correctly, he even played > on it, and it was totally playable 😉
. At this price point, it’s really a fantastic value 👍
. In my opinion, spending those extra $6.75 is definitely worth it 🙂

I think I'll grab it from here. Just one more thing though—it says "Bus Type: PCI-E 2.1," but my motherboard is PCI-E 2.0 x 16. What does that actually mean? Can I still run this card on my board?
