Hey everyone...

So, I’ve officially reached my limit with my Sapphire 4870. It’s basically unusable now because after about ten minutes of gaming, I get hit with this crash (7:45). Since I can't actually play anything, I figured it was time to upgrade to something better.

I'm currently eyeing the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 1GB priced at $426 (plus, there's a 10% discount if I pay cash). What do you guys think? Is this the right move, or should I be looking for something else in the $433 price range?

My current setup:
ASUS P5Q Pro
Q6600
4 GB RAM
LC8650 650W
Running at 1680*1050 resolution

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly... I did a little digging online, and it looks like the GTX 560 and the 6870 are pretty much in the same ballpark, though the 6870 ends up being the cheaper option for my budget...

You won't be able to touch any card at all...
The real question now is whether you actually need specific features from NVIDIA or ATI..
And let's be honest, some games just run better on NVIDIA while others prefer ATI..

Hey, I'm looking for a new GPU—something in the same ballpark as my old one, nothing crazy expensive. Hit me with suggestions... maybe up to $500 $267 max

Here’s my current build

And just so we're clear, the motherboard isn't actually what's listed here, it's a different model

Also, yeah, the card mentioned in there is officially dead
A few of these caught my eye, but like I said, I have no clue which one is actually better:

Feel free to throw out other options too, just let me know why they're worth picking over these. The PC handles everything, but mostly it's for gaming.
Thanks in advance

The 5750 is pretty much right in line with what your old card was pulling—nothing crazy there. Now, if you step up to the 5770, you’re looking at maybe a 10% bump in speed, but those other two, the 6xxx series? Just cross them off your list entirely. Honestly—if I were in your shoes—that XFX-brand one is easily your best bet.

cosmicstag52, what monitor are you running?

If you're planning on gaming, what resolution are we talking about?

And honestly, I just pushed it as high as I possibly could—I think it was somewhere around 1680 or something like that, but I don't really remember specifically...

All set—thanks for the input, ended up grabbing an NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 instead.

sorry guys, me again...
http://www.asrock.com/mb/vga.asp?Model=775XFire-RAID if it's not listed right here, does that mean my NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 won't actually work?
anyway, i know it's a pretty dumb question, but still...

Nah, that's just a list of cards from maybe 6 or 7 years ago when AGP slots were still a thing. You have a PCI Express slot for your GPU, which wasn't super common back then, but nowadays 99% of cards use PCI Express.🙂

Look, I know it's a dumb question, but still...

Shouldn't be an issue. That NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 will run fine on that board.👍
