I'm kind of confused here... how is this NVIDIA GTX 460 supposed to be better when the core clock and memory clock are both lower? Also, does the gtx 460 actually support DirectX 11?

It’s not just about the VRAM and the core clock, you know. There are at least a hundred different graph functions to consider.

The specs say it does. 🙂

Greetings.
I am seeking recommendations for a graphics card within a reasonable budget.

My current system specs are as follows:
-Motherboard: BIOSTAR Group TP43D2-A7
-Processor: Intel Core2 duo E8500
-RAM: 6 GB DDR2

Up until this point, I have been utilizing an 8800 GTS.

Check this one out; it gets the job done reasonably well. 🙂

Man, I’m looking to grab a decent GPU in the $367
range. Here’s what I’m running:
ASUS M4N68T motherboard
AMD Phenom II x4 970 at 3.5 Ghz
4GB of DDR3 RAM
I was lowkey eyeing this XFX AMD Radeon HD 6790 with 1GB DDR5, 840 MHz core clock, and 4200 MHz memory clock $338

Here's my setup:
The ASUS M4N68T motherboard.
The AMD Phenom II x4 970 at 3.5 GHz.
Maybe 4GB of DDR3 RAM is enough, I guess.
I was thinking about picking up this XFX AMD Radeon HD 6790 with 1GB of DDR5—it's got an 840 MHz core clock and a 4200 MHz memory clock. Maybe it might work for what I need. $338

I think this might be what you're looking for. It seems to match up with those specs.

It’s probably about 10-15% faster than the XFX AMD Radeon HD 6790. 😉

Yo, crimsonstag84, what’s your take on the SAPPHIRE AMD RADEON HD 6770 Vapor-X with that 860 MHz core clock? Also, what about the SAPPHIRE AMD RADEON HD 6770 Flex?

Can someone break down what AGP and PCI actually are?
Is there any way to check out what kind of power supply I've got without actually cracking the case open?

Copying this from an old thread I found... 😁
"Basically, AGP and PCI-e are the standard ports used for graphics cards. AGP is the older, slower tech that’s pretty much dead at this point—you can't even find modern cards made for AGP slots anymore. PCI-e is the current industry standard that everyone uses for GPUs now.

As for regular PCI slots, those are mostly just sitting there for things like modems, sound cards, or TV tuner cards. Finding a graphics card that actually fits a standard PCI slot is super rare, so I'm betting you actually meant PCI-e when you were asking about PCI."

Maybe check your receipt if you bought the PSU separately. If it came pre-built in a case, I guess you might be able to guess based on the model of the tower itself.🙂

Jacob Jones782 said:Hey crimsonstag84, what’s your take on the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce with an 860 MHz core clock versus the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce?

The HD 6850 is definitely the powerhouse of that trio, way stronger than the HD 6790.☕

And by the way, when you asked which card was best for around $367, I suggested the HD 6850, so I'm not sure why we're guessing now? 😛

I've got an ASUS Motherboard in my rig, but I can't find any info on whether it actually supports PCI-e. I'm looking everywhere but I just can't find 🤷

There exists this thing called the internet, and an even better companion to that INTERNET is Google!

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=gigabyte+M68M-S2P&l=1 If you actually bother to look at the specifications, you'll see what's included and what isn't. In short, your ASUS Motherboard has a PCI-e slot—the long one used for the graphics card.

And btw, I already asked which card was the best pick for around $367 and I specifically said the HD 6850, so why the hell are we playing guessing games now? 😛

It’s not even that deep, I was just thinking about grabbing one of those three

So, my old POV 8800GTS finally kicked the bucket on me. I'm looking for something new in that same ballpark. Maybe something like a GT 440 or something similar? I don't really need anything for a High-end PC or anything crazy, just something that can handle games on low-to-medium settings. I guess my budget is around $500-$183.

What kind of ranking is that if the 460 is three times more powerful? 😬 How much cash are we talking about here, and what does the rest of the build look like?

I went ahead and edited my post, though I'm not totally sure if the rank updated yet 😁 I've got this Biostar motherboard, an Intel Core i7-720 with an AM2 socket, running an Athlon 4400+

Check this one out... I'm not entirely sure how it stacks up against the 8800GTS, but they're probably pretty similar 🙂
