Just so we have this ready in a week:

1. Sebastian Vettel
2. Lewis Hamilton
3. Mark Webber
4. someone else (maybe Schumi 😁)
5. Fernando Alonso

I mean, I think this is pretty fair considering how Felipe Massa let Fernando Alonso down...
Massa gave way to Fernando, Webber got outplayed by Sebastian and vice versa, plus those
Sebastian Vettel engine failures—even with his mistakes during the season, the guy deserves the championship

Between Massa letting Alonso slip, Webber being outpaced by Sebastian Vettel, and vice versa—not to mention those
Sebastian Vettel technical issues—the kid really deserves the championship regardless of any mistakes made during the season.

Come on, please, let's be serious here.

Sebastian Vettel has been driving the fastest car most consistently throughout this championship, and now suddenly he's somehow "earned" it?

He hasn't made a single move this entire season that would actually make it memorable.

To me, Jenson Button was much more interesting last year, even if he is a bit of a dry personality himself.

I honestly can't believe how much everyone is obsessing over that mistake by Felipe Massa. 🤦

I wanted to say more, but I'm not trying to spam. All I'll say is the race was pretty dull, and it sucks that the only guy this season who hasn't messed up wasn't fast enough (Jenson Button). Maybe he just had to save fuel. Anyway, cheers to the former champ. 👋

stormybadger8 said:Maybe Pato is right—it feels like Mark Webber was just a bit too slow, and by being that way, he basically knocked Sebastian Vettel out of a genuine title fight. Honestly, Webber was the one who completely undermined the Red Bull Racing team during that race in Istanbul. Sebastian Vettel did everything he possibly could, but he was clearly slower than Vettel in that specific session, and his performance essentially sabotaged both Vettel and the entire team, ruining any chance at the championship. It’s kind of similar to how things went last year when he played a part in letting Vettel snatch that title away.🙄

I'm with you on this one. Honestly, the way he's acting is totally unacceptable, and if you ask me, he should be kicked off the team immediately.

Now he’s probably going to hand him this trophy just so they can claim the champion comes from Red Bull Racing—even though he hasn't actually cared about that team for ages.

If he had missed out today, we could probably say he was handed the championship on a silver platter. But given how things actually went down in that last race... it’s different. It’s more like a situation where Sebastian Vettel just can't clinch the title on his own anymore. 🤷

It’s not really about doing this for Mark Webber's sake; I guess it's more about what's best for Red Bull Racing.

Look, Pato, at the end of the day, this all just boils down to pure commercialism and Red Bull Racing's damn marketing machine. It honestly has nothing to do with actual sport. You can forget that whole idea about it being okay to let a slower teammate slide for the sake of the team. No real athlete is ever going to do that, because once you go down that road, you're just being a jerk—and a massive one at that. Maybe the team owners won't care, and maybe the die-hard fans will cheer, but in your own eyes? Not a chance. Every single time that person looks in the mirror for the rest of their life, they're going to have to admit to themselves that they were just being a total jerk.☕

I don't really see it that way. I guess Formula 1 is... I guess you could call it a team sport, primarily. That doesn't necessarily mean we should be letting slower drivers through during a race, or that there needs to be a strict hierarchy between a number one and a number two driver. But honestly? Looking at that last race and how things are playing out right now, the whole situation just feels completely different. 🤷

Drivers only get to where they are because of their teams. It’s the crew that hands them a car capable of actually contending for a championship in the first place. In that kind of situation, I guess the team's collective interest really should take precedence over any individual driver's ego. 🤷

If I were Sebastian Vettel, I probably would have just let Mark Webber go. If things had played out where he was second and Fernando Alonso was third, I wouldn't have had any realistic shot at the title anyway. Honestly, I don't think anyone should have to tell me what to do over the team radio—it should have been common sense. 🤷

I don't think I'm exactly a jerk. 😁 If I were actually a total jerk, I’d probably be sitting here overthinking whether or not to pull the trigger... wondering if I was sabotaging my own team just out of pure spite, anger, or some petty grudge against Mark Webber. I guess I'd have to ask myself if I was being driven by my own selfish motives before making such a mess of things. 🤷

Way to go, Pato. You might be a bit of a wild card, but you certainly know how to make a smart point. 🙏

Sebastian Vettel lets Mark Webber past during the final lap, but then everything goes sideways when Fernando Alonso slams into the wall on the far side of the track. Vettel catches the chaos on his monitor, loses his head, and lunges right into Mark during those last few turns... Then Lewis Hamilton charges through the wreckage to snatch the championship. It's over.☕

Come on McLaren, let’s go for the 1-2 in Abu Dhabi!🙂

Because honestly, if Fernando Alonso just walks away with 6th, I'll take it.

I’d celebrate a McLaren win like I was their biggest fan on earth.😁

And my scenario is even more insane.🤣

Sebastian Vettel's leading the race, Fernando Alonso is in second, and Mark Webber's holding down third.

Thanks to the absolute mess up by the Red Bull Racing pit crew, Sebastian Vettel is muscling past Fernando Alonso. Alonso was leading everything until the final lap, with all the Ferrari fans celebrating, when—out of nowhere—his engine just dies halfway through the last circuit. Suddenly, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber blow right past him, and things go absolutely mental.🤣

Just 100 or 200 meters from the finish line, Sebastian Vettel’s engine gives up the ghost again. Mark Webber has nowhere to go, slams right into his rear end, and practically catapults him across the finish line.🤣

Sebastian Vettel clinches the title thanks to Mark Webber.🙏🙏🙏
Mark Webber just slapped a reporter near the track after being asked if that move was a team order or if they just decided to help out their teammate on their own.😬 🤣

Flavio's sitting in the stands making about as much money as a rainy season in Seattle, while Felipe Massa’s just standing there laughing his head off on the podium. 😬

Sebastian Vettel is leading the race, Fernando Alonso is in second, and Mark Webber is holding down third.

Because of some absolute disaster at the Red Bull pit wall, Vettel loses his lead to Fernando Alonso, who ends up driving the race and leading all the way until the final lap, leaving the Ferrari fans going absolutely wild in the stands, but then, right in the middle of that last lap, Alonso's engine just completely gives up on him, letting Vettel and Webber fly past, which kicks off this total chaotic mess.🤣

Then, just when you think it's over, about 100 or 200 meters before the finish line, another engine dies on Vettel, and Mark Webber, having no idea what to do, slams right into his rear end and basically catapults him across the finish line.🤣

So, Sebastian Vettel clinches the championship thanks to Mark Webber.🙏
Webber starts slapping away the reporters near the track who are all badgering him, asking if that was an official team order or if they just decided on their own to help out their teammate.😬

Thanks to some brilliant incompetence from the Red Bull pit wall, Vettel loses his spot to Fernando Alonso. Alonso holds the lead until the final lap, while the Ferrari fans are going wild celebrating. Then, right in the middle of that last lap, Alonso's engine just gives up. Vettel and Webber blow past him, and then things get absolutely insane.🤣

Just as Vettel is about 100-200 meters from the finish line, his engine dies too. Meanwhile, Mark Webber can't react in time and slams right into Vettel's rear, basically catapulting him across the finish line.🤣

Sebastian Vettel wins the championship thanks to Mark Webber.🙏 🙏 🙏
And Mark Webber ends up slapping the reporters.

🤣

I’m officially opting out of both Ferrari's and Fernando Alonso's title hopes if this is how it plays out. 🙏 🤣

stormybadger8 said:Pata, honestly—Mark Webber was just clearly slower, and he basically threw Sebastian Vettel out of a real title fight. It was Webber who actually let the Red Bull Racing crew down in Turkey—Sebastian Vettel did everything he could, but he was just slower than Vettel in that race in Turkey, and he basically screwed over both Vettel and the whole team, ruining his championship shot. Plus, he pulled that same stunt last year when Vettel managed to snatch the title away—it was wild—and now they're basically handing him the trophy on a silver platter just so the champion comes from the Red Bull Racing lineup, even though he doesn't even care about that team anymore anyway.🙄

Well, dear Pata, I think it all boils down to pure commercialism and Red Bull Racing's marketing machine—it has absolutely nothing to do with actual sports. Forget those stories about it being okay to let a slower teammate pass for the good of the team; no real athlete is ever going to do that. If they do, they become a jerk—a massive jerk. Maybe not in the eyes of the team owners or the die-hard fans, but in their own eyes? Definitely. Every single time they look in the mirror for the rest of their lives, they’ll be thinking, "Yeah, I'm a total jerk."☕

You're looking at this all wrong.

To fight against jerks like Ferrari and Fernando Alonso, you might just have to become a jerk yourself, unfortunately.

Sebastian Vettel should have let Mark Webber pass way earlier today.

The way they handled it, they've seriously tanked their chances at the driver's championship.

If they pull off the championship with less than an 8-point lead—honestly, I mean it—it would be the most undeserved win in the history of any sport. Just saying!

Plus, Alonso’s been running the third fastest car on the grid all year long—it's pretty impressive, honestly!

And man, those jokes about the car being a total junk heap? Those are definitely the best ones—honestly, they kill me! 😁

It’s kind of like how things were at Renault after McLaren—sort of like what Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button went through at McLaren this year.

This year, there’s one car that the entire Ferrari team is throwing everything they've got behind—it's definitely a far cry from those old days of just scraping by!

He’s got no one to blame—the kid was just faster than him in qualifying--it happens!
He’s got no one to blame—the kid was just faster during the race too
He’s got no one to blame for that mess back in Korea

Seriously though, what are you guys even getting at?🤷

And he's still ahead of Sebastian Vettel... man, that kid is actually incredible, LOL

Still no championship though, right?

So, is this kid finally going to take home a win?

So, nothing from the headline after all, huh? Typical.

So, is that little guy finally going to win something? 😁

Look, things are starting to move, but honestly? I’m terrified they’re just going to stall out again.😢

Looks like our perennial "future world champion" might actually pull it off after all.😢

The guy just has zero luck. It’s nothing but giving up, constant breakdowns, and making boneheaded calls that screw him over. It’s actually ridiculous. But even with all that chaos, he’s still out there fighting. Honestly, I’m still a huge fan.🙏

Look at this:
Lewis Hamilton just blew past Scuderia Ferrari and Michael Schumacher on track. Honestly, it’s a good thing the FIA didn't hand him a trophy for that one.
Mark Webber just sticks his nose into everyone's business. The FIA won't lift a finger—not even a second glance to see if they should hand out a penalty.
Alonso is being an absolute nightmare, whining like a child because he wants Felipe Massa to let him pass. Honestly, just let him go. If the FIA actually steps in with a penalty, they might as well just hand him the championship on a silver platter right then and there.🤦
Sebastian Vettel losing his car while trying to pass Jenson Button—and that penalty—just makes zero sense to me. Why didn't anyone else get flagged? Like when Mark Webber went airborne over Kov? It was total nonsense. And don't even get me started on that Scuderia Ferrari situation. You could clearly see it: Weber suddenly floors it to create a gap, then the Safety Car shuts its lights off at the absolute last second. Honestly, that was one of the most brainless Safety Car calls we've seen all season. The race leader gets slapped with a penalty immediately through some lightning-fast process, yet they took half the race to decide if Lewis Hamilton actually overtook the Safety Car or not. Make it make sense. 🙏

Like someone else already pointed out in this thread, Jenson Button definitely earned that title more than anyone else. It’s honestly a shame he wasn't a faster driver and didn't take a few more risks every now and then.😢
But Sebastian Vettel is definitely sitting in second behind Jenson Button.

It feels like everyone is just spinning their wheels here,
the championship goes to whoever racks up the most points, not necessarily the one who "deserved" it more. Sure, sometimes those two things happen to be the same person, but let’s be honest—it doesn't happen nearly as often as we'd like. 🤣🤣

That's just the nature of the game, and it isn't any different in Formula 1 😉
