I wouldn't be surprised if Mark Webber gets a kick in the rear right now that the team title is within reach, leaving him to drive as a test driver in Las Vegas

Jason Campbell70 said:You’re probably thinking of that moment when Novak called it "little Button sending Hamilton packing." 🤔

Down in the pits, during the Safety Car.

Hold on a second. Button pitted first, while Lewis didn't go in until around lap 20 or 25. The Safety Car didn't come out until lap 50.
Does that mean Button was nearly 30 laps ahead of Lewis, sitting in P4 or P5?
And you're saying the Safety Car saved them in terms of how clean the move looked.

Given that Lewis made that mistake again while battling Alonso, I have to conclude that Button handled the USA race better than his teammate.

I’m still holding out hope that Hamilton can snatch a point from Red Bull's grasp, but he's definitely been unreliable lately (though I'll keep hoping for Las Vegas).

Nah, when the SC came out, Hamilton had to pit for a second time because his tires were shot. He came out behind Button, and then just to avoid any "clashes" on track, Button pitted a lap later.

I never once thought that, even with the username. Honestly, I haven't met anyone who roots for Kimi Räikkönen without being able to tolerate Lewis Hamilton at least a little bit.

Fair enough. My bad.

Fernando Alonso absolutely earned that title after that performance in the USA. That move passing the unnamed driver was pure genius, and he forced Lewis Hamilton into a mistake again 👍 Driving like that in a car that's clearly inferior to the Red Bull Racing machine—which should have clinched the championship already 😲
Mark Webber is struggling, but it’s such a tragedy that even though he has more points than Sebastian Vettel, he's still stuck as the second driver... he's practically barred from winning the title 🤣
Sebastian Vettel has blown so many opportunities that it would be a crime if a driver like that took the championship this year... nine top starting positions and only two wins if I recall correctly, all while driving the fastest car on the grid as the team's lead driver 😂
People are always blaming the fact that Felipe Massa let him slip away, yet nobody mentions how they're sidelining Mark Webber despite him outscoring Sebastian Vettel. Christian Horner has truly outdone himself here... 😕

The best thing for Red Bull Racing at the next race would be for Webber to win and take the title, finally proving he's just as good as Sebastian Vettel
Though I doubt Fernando Alonso would see it that way 😁

I don't see that happening. Red Bull Racing simply can't afford to leave Sebastian Vettel without any support. If he happens to have one of those "off" days and loses control, they absolutely need a championship-caliber backup ready to step in.🙂div>

Ferrari has always preferred drivers with actual brains, and Webber definitely isn't one of them. 😁

Well, look at that. I just learned a whole new definition for "smart." Though I'd never go as far as saying smart and a total jerk mean the exact same thing. 🤣

Debating the minutiae is our job, and frankly, I consider it a privilege, an honor, and a duty.😬🤣

God forbid we all actually agreed with one another and that everything we wrote turned out to be the absolute truth by the end of every race. That would be incredibly boring.😂

Absolutely! 🙏

Gary Palmer8 said:If he clinches the title with less than an 8-point lead, it’ll be the most undeserved win in the history of any sport, period.

Besides that, Fernando Alonso has been running the second fastest—okay, third fastest—car on the grid all year long.

And then there's this whole nonsense about him driving a junk car.😁

He was driving a junk car back at Renault after leaving McLaren, kind of like how Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are stuck in that McLaren this year.

But this year? He's got a car that the entire Ferrari team is basically built around. That's a far cry from a junk car...

All I'll say is... if Alonso were driving for Red Bull Racing, the season would be incredibly boring because we'd know who the champ was months ago.
Sebastian Vettel or Mark Webber would have been fighting for the title against him in that Ferrari.
Fernando Alonso is pulling off miracles here. He's clearly proving he's the best driver on the grid right now, and by some margin.☕

Sebastian Vettel or Mark Webber would be fighting tooth and nail against Ferrari for the title.
Alonso is definitely pulling off miracles right now—he's showing everyone he's the best driver on the grid at the moment, and by some margin too.☕

Honestly, after getting outclassed by Lewis Hamilton back at McLaren, and all that drama over the team wanting to move on from Felipe Massa—if he were in a Red Bull seat with an even stronger teammate this year, he'd be back to complaining on the team radio, kicking the doors of the motorhome, and demanding they install a referee in the pits just to ensure "fairness."

So, it's not that Alonso isn't the best driver—it's just that he's lucky if he can even stay in the top three.

stormybadger8 said:Man, things are starting off so messy—I’m honestly worried they won't recover😢

It looks like our perennial "future world champion" might be in trouble😢

The kid just has zero luck—nothing but DNFs, breakdowns, and stupid calls working against him—it's unreal. Even so, I’m still rooting for him, he’s such a talent🙏

Check this out:
Lewis Hamilton overtakes the unnamed and the unnamed on track—thank goodness the FIA didn't hand him a trophy for it
Mark Webber just dives into everyone and everything—and the FIA doesn't even blink, no penalty, no investigation at all
Fernando Alonso pulling that absolute nonsense by whining about needing Felipe Massa to let him past—he gets passed, and the FIA’s response is basically handing him the championship on a silver platter🤦
Sebastian Vettel losing his car while trying to pass Jenson Button and getting a penalty that makes zero sense to me (why didn't anyone else get one? Like when Webber went flying over the unnamed?)—and then that whole mess with the Safety Car. You could clearly see it: Webber guns it to create a gap, the Safety Car turns its lights off at the worst possible second. That was easily one of the dumbest Safety Car deployments of the season. The race leader gets penalized instantly through some quick procedure, unlike Hamilton, where it took them half the race to figure out if he actually overtook the Safety Car or not🙏

Like someone mentioned earlier in this thread, Jenson Button probably deserved the title more than anyone—it’s a real shame he wasn't a faster driver or willing to take a few more risks sometimes😢
But Sebastian Vettel is definitely the runner-up behind Button.

For the sake of Formula 1, Vettel should have already been forced to yield in this race
Not just to wipe out his advantage, but to put Ferrari under way more pressure

Unfortunately, because the FIA has been playing favorites with Ferrari for years, nobody can force a correction. If Alonso is supposed to be seven points behind, the only way Webber can negate that is if Vettel gets hammered

So, unless Alonso stays ahead of Webber until the final race, this championship isn't worth a dime

But hey, like mistybear87 said, THAT'S FORMULA 1!!!!111!1

So, have we all started pulling for Mark Webber in this last race yet, or are we just holding our breath until he finally grabs that championship title? 🤷

Come on, Felipe, let's go...

Man, yesterday was killer. 15 points. 🙏

So, it's not even that Alonso isn't a great driver, it's just that he's lucky if he ends up in the top three.

Look, Lewis Hamilton is really the only one who can even be mentioned in the same breath as Fernando Alonso, so...☕

Between Mark Webber🤣 and Sebastian Vettel (who honestly can't seem to turn those pole positions into anything meaningful), any serious Formula 1 fan knows that Red Bull Racing has the absolute best car on the grid this season. The fact that Fernando Alonso is somehow holding onto first place right before the end of the race is a total miracle for Ferrari. Honestly, some people just don't get it.

What's your deal? Mark Webber's still got at least six seasons left in him. He’s finally actually matured into a real driver now... 🙏

We're looking at the start of a massive era here. 🙏

Red Bull is realizing right now that they can't realistically run two drivers of that caliber on the exact same team...
They've basically pivoted to being Sebastian Vettel's personal hype man...
And if you look closely, every single top-tier team seems to have their own "golden boy" they cater to...

Just to give you an example, every powerhouse has that one driver they prioritize...

Like, Red Bull has Sebastian Vettel, McLaren has Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari has that guy Fernando Alonso, and Williams has Barrichello. Now everyone is just waiting to see which other Red Bull seat Mark Webber moves into, but they're scrambling to find another star driver so they can actually have a competitive lineup ready for next season. 🙏

If anyone is actually the useless one at Red Bull, it’s fucking Mark Webber, not Sebastian Vettel!!!! 😁 Get it through your heads already!!! 😁 Honestly, I’d love to just throw a couple more "2up"s at the end of this post, but I’m far too classy for that.😁😁 🤣

Look, cosmicridge5, I respect you coming at me like a freight train on a highway, really I do...

But comparing that ice-cold Australian to some little wimp? That’s like saying the forum screen is yellow... it just doesn't make sense...

The kid turns into a total puddle every single time he screws up....

I still can't get over that time when someone was talking about Mark Webber and acting like he's crazy just because he didn't move out of the way 🙄

Look, let's be clear: if anyone here is being objective, it's me, because I don't root for either of them...

But hey, I gotta pick a side sometimes, though I'm definitely not rooting against Fernando Alonso 🤷

Plus, I was thinking about sending my resume over to Red Bull, you know, just so there's at least one person on the team who’s actually on Mark Webber's side 🤷

But sure, let's pretend the cool-headed Aussie is the weak one, while Sebastian Vettel—who’s constantly grinding through stuff—is totally fine 😁

cosmicridge5, you seriously cracked me up 🙏

Listen, cosmicridge5, a guy like him simply cannot be called a wimp. He could be a kamikaze pilot, an assassin, whatever—you could say anything else, but calling him a wimp or some soft little thing? No way.

Lately, we've had two drivers constantly whining about not getting equal treatment and claiming the team isn't backing them up.

Specifically:
-Fernando Alonso - back in 2007, and especially 2006 since he was leading the charge and eventually clinched the world title.
-Mark Webber, who hasn't missed an opportunity this year to complain that the crew isn't behind him.

You can't really compare anyone to Fernando Alonso when it comes to being a crybaby, though even he has his moments of fragility.

Even this gentleman didn't complain nearly as much.

Now, that guy? He actually knows how to cry.
