Christian Thomas49 said:The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival—basically the headquarters for the most alternative bands in the entire universe! Listen, even with all your fake-ass "alternative" vibes, when you claim this is a damn killer lineup, you’ve gotta realize this is absolute garbage. Aside from Massive Attack and maybe The Flaming Lips, who the hell else is there? Give me one band that actually feels real, flesh and blood, instead of all this alternative dance/electro/new wave crap (which, by the way, are the best tags ever) that's only "cool" and "urban" because they wear hats! This is seriously pathetic. And yeah, spare me those moronic comments like "if you don't like it, just don't comment" or "to each their own." That "to each their own" nonsense isn't welcome here because A: it's not just my opinion, I'm pretty sure about eighty percent of people feel the exact same way
B: this is the most brainless lineup in the history of the universe
C: honestly, this much "alternative" stuff makes a man's eyes bleed.
Thankfully, for those original $250 tickets where you can at least see Massive Attack, I wonder how much a ticket would cost if they were just doing a standalone show. Truly, truly terrible.

I'm signing on to this word for word, except I already dropped $350 (plus another $350 for my girl 😢).
Fans can come in here and start posting the listener numbers for certain "bands," but that doesn't change the fact that this festival is total trash. Not to mention the second—actually, let's call it the third—tier headliners like Billy Idol, who honestly belongs on some hotel summer stage in Austin, performing at the same level as Samantha Fox (yeah, I'm old enough to know who that lady is).
Give us our money back.

I’m convinced this is one of the absolute worst lineups ever put together. If there was actually a ranking for bad lineups, I’m sure this one would be sitting right at the top...

They could’ve thrown in Portishead too, just to give us the whole Seattle scene in one go...

I guess they could have even booked Portishead, and then we'd pretty much have the whole Seattle scene all in one place...

I just saw the news, and honestly, it seems kind of underwhelming.

Look, I have a decent enough opinion of them, but that doesn't change the reality—they're pretty much the same as most of the other acts coming out. They're incredibly cool, hip, and urban, which just means 👎

Just a heads-up that tickets for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival are going for $147, or maybe just $130 if you happen to be a Verizon customer, but those prices are only sticking around until Wednesday, May 5th.

Starting this Thursday, May 6th, I guess the ticket prices will go up to $163, which would be $147 for anyone with a Verizon discount.

Finally, some common sense from the diplomats and the higher powers (they’re the ones who actually make the rules)! This is finally something good... 🙏

So, the voting for who gets to play at Lollapalooza is finally wrapped up, and I guess it looks like the bands Law of the Skies and Embassy 516. pulled in the most votes from everyone.

Are they actually going to announce more headliners soon!? Coachella is only a month away!
What exactly do they think is going to happen—that people will just magically decide to sprint out and grab tickets at the very last second!?

I’m still holding onto this tiny shred of hope that Muse might end up on that lineup. 😬

They’re usually touring through various festivals around that time, and I checked—the band is actually free during those dates! 😁

http://muse.mu/tour-dates/upcoming/

It would be a chance for everyone to see what they missed back in 2007, when the band was playing sets that were honestly much better than anything they've put out lately (to be fair, the tracks on this latest album are pretty mediocre).

If I’m remembering correctly, the lineup for this festival is already set in stone.

Scream at me!? 🤣 I think I read somewhere that they don't announce the headliners until after the early bird ticket window closes (I haven't followed things closely enough over the last few years to be sure, so who knows?), and since those cheap tickets were pulled on Wednesday, isn't there still a chance they might drop one more big name to draw people in?

If the performers they've announced are truly the entire roster, then 🤣 🤣 🤣

They just won't stop bragging about it.

But there's nobody you actually want to see. 😁 They really didn't invite anyone relevant or exciting, did they? 👍🤣🙂 Who is going to shell out that much money for such nonsense this year?

Just for comparison, look at what's happening at a festival nearby:

Honestly, if I have the opportunity, I think I'd rather just leave my money in Canada instead!

Back 2 seasons ago, Nick Cave was the first act announced. Last year, it was Kraftwerk and Franz Ferdinand leading the charge.

So, normally speaking, the big names drop very early on. From what I can tell, there hasn't really been this kind of "calculating" with the major bands in the past. As soon as they’re confirmed and management clears the press release, Coachella just announces them.

Man, this year is just different—it feels like things are stalling, so Central Park might end up being a bit of a letdown. At least when it comes to the lineup.

.....and I get the feeling people feel it too.
I honestly hope a lot of people just skip this kind of event. They could have brought in much bigger names for that kind of money, IMO! If this list weren't so sad, it would actually be laughable.

I can't imagine why an organizer wouldn't try to book a band that is widely considered one of the best live acts in the world right now—especially since they happen to be touring nearby at this exact moment:

.....or any other major artist who's actually relevant right now!?

Are you absolutely sure about that? I mean, I suspect they still need to announce at least one more headliner. I'm probably wrong, of course, but the list just feels... I don't know, a little thin to me. 😢

This lineup is so depressing I’m actually on the verge of tears... we should probably just make a movie about it. A tragedy this big would sweep every award show

The lineup isn't weak—it’s just a bit more underground, which doesn't mean it's bad. Honestly, this whole thing is clearly curated for the indie crowd. You've got Broken Social Scene, Flaming Lips, LCD Soundsystem, Caribou... it's definitely a specific vibe, but I'm perfectly happy with it.
