quietcobra As I was saying, Dennis Lee87 mentioned:
I’ve heard of most of the headliners and those big international bands, for the most part. But honestly, I can't say I actually know any specific tracks from Alice in Chains or The Flaming Lips. My only real connection to them is knowing that their lead singer lent his vocals to a song by The Chemical Brothers once. 😁 )
I was listening to a bit of Massive Attack earlier, though that’s more of a "maybe" for me. If I were truly in the mood to dive deep into their discography, I probably would have made the trip to catch them live about six months ago. As for Morcheba, they’re decent enough, but if you leave them playing for too long, you’ll find yourself nodding off quite easily. Now, Bullys? That's actually something I could get behind. Personally, I think LCD has one standout track, but the rest of their catalog doesn't quite hold my interest. ☕ It’s always the same old story with these music discussions. Someone will claim that *Idol* has one redeeming quality—though, if you ask anyone who was actually hanging out at Coachella, they'll tell you something entirely different—and then they’ll pivot to how "chk chk chk" has its own merits. Of course, they usually follow that up by admitting they're only talking about some specific remix of the track, which really doesn't count for much in the grand scheme of things. It’s just an endless cycle of "this is good, but actually, that's better," followed by a dozen little caveats that eventually render the whole point moot.

If I were to offer a recommendation for your listening, I would suggest Halid Bešlić. Given your taste, I imagine you likely already know his entire discography by heart, but there is certainly no harm in revisiting his work. Enjoy.

I was spinning some Massive Attack earlier—not that I’m obsessed or anything, but if they’d toured through my city like six months ago, I probably would've jumped on those tickets in a heartbeat. Morcheba is decent enough, I guess, but honestly? You start drifting off after a while. It’s just too easy to nod off. Now, Bullys... I could actually get into a set by them. As for LCD, they’ve got maybe one killer track in my book, but the rest of their stuff just doesn't really do it for me. ☕ Look, everyone’s got their own little take—like how people at Coachella were raving about Idol having one redeeming quality, or how that "chk chk chk" track has its own merits (though let's be real, that's just because of the remix, and the critics won't ever admit that)—it’s all just endless back-and-forth, blah blah blah, you know?

😕 But man, that part about Idol really stung... you seriously can't sit there and tell me a legend only had one good thing going for them—nooooo way. 🙂 Look, if you're already planning on hitting up Pendulum, you might as well branch out and check some other acts—I guarantee you won't regret it! Unless, of course, deep down in your soul, you're actually a huge fan of Seka & Co. 😉

Honestly, I feel like the next person who tries to drag folk or some low-brow, trashy pop music—you know, the kind of stuff you’d hear if you weren't listening to xy, you're almost certainly blasting Ceca or whatever—into the lineup for a festival like this should probably be slapped five times straight. I mean, seriously, what on earth are you thinking?

Oh, come on, it was a joke! Why is everyone taking this so incredibly seriously? Look, even if they *do* listen to that kind of stuff, who cares? It's not my business. I was just trying to suggest some other artists to check out—you know, things they actually won't regret listening to if it’s even remotely close to their taste.

It’s just because that same tired "joke" keeps popping up—usually with a much more serious undertone—on pretty much every other thread on this subforum.

I listened to a little bit of Massive Attack recently, but I guess if I actually wanted to hear them, I probably would have gone to see them live about six months ago. Morcheba is alright, but I think you might fall asleep if you listen to them for too long. Now, Audio Bullys sounds like something I could actually get into, and I suppose LCD has one good song, but that's about it ☕ Idol has one decent track (at least according to what they said at Coachella), and Chk Chk Chk has one good song too, though that was just a remix so it might not count for much, etc., etc., etc...

Maybe give Rise Against a listen, and if they aren't your thing, I guess Flogging Molly is a guaranteed good time. I went to their show last year and it was honestly one of the best festivals I've ever been to

And honestly? Now I actually feel bad because I seriously wasn't trying to offend anyone or anything. Look, I was just trying to suggest that if this guy is into that specific vibe, he should probably check out some other artists too—if that's his style, he'll love them. Mentioning Seka was really just my way of saying, hey, if this is what you listen to, maybe the lineup isn't quite worth the ticket price for you. My bad, guys—no shade intended toward anyone. I'm just genuinely hyped for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival!!🙂

??????????????

If you had bothered to actually read my post in the first place, wouldn't common sense dictate that my preferences lean heavily toward electronic music? How on earth did you all arrive at the conclusion that I’d want to listen to classic pop icons or old-school crooners? 😕😕😕

quietcobra said:Wait, what? Seriously?

If you actually bothered to read my post—which, let’s be honest, some people clearly didn't—you’d see that I was talking about Electronic music. I have no idea how you all managed to jump from there to mentioning Hall & Oates or any other pop acts... 😕😕 😕

Ugh, look, I’m in a massive rush right now, but I just had to get this out there—I only just realized you thought I was talking about Hall & Oates. Believe me, I wasn't trying to be shady or anything! I was just trying to explain the specific role that singer had in my original point. Sorry if things got lost in translation, and I really hope you still end up going to the show. Peace!!

It isn’t really about taking offense; it is more that such a comment feels somewhat tasteless. There is a generally accepted etiquette to avoid bringing up those topics, especially here on a forum within this specific context.

By the way, if you are into electronic music, I think you would really enjoy two specific things: on one hand, there is Ame, and on the other, L-Vis 1990. You should definitely check out both sounds; ZKN is a solid choice...

By the way, if you have any interest in electronic music, there are two acts you really ought to check out—on one hand, you have Electronic music, and on the other, L-Vis 1990. Take a listen to both sounds; the choice is yours.

I’ve seen those Electronic music acts before; I know their track Reebok is quite something, but where on earth are you finding this L-Vis 1990? On the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival website, it lists someone named Jaguar.

Electronic music is simply incredible; they are easily among my favorite DJs. They always deliver an absolute banger, and their Innervisions label puts out such phenomenal sound... it’s just top-tier stuff overall.

I couldn't track down a specific mix for L-Visa, but I'll leave you his MySpace link here so you can dig through it yourself. He’s got some really fresh tracks—everything from deep vibes to high energy. It's all great stuff for mixing, and honestly, it's just perfect for getting people on the dance floor.

I simply hope they play something different and move away from those repetitive stages, because I would truly prefer not to have to listen to their spinning records playing right alongside the mainstream concerts.

I hit up that Electronic music set at Aquarius last year—honestly, one of the absolute worst parties I’ve ever dragged myself to, and believe me, I’ve been to plenty of them. 🤷
I think I’ll just sit this one out when it comes to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. 😁

I think I'll probably skip it during Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 😁

I suspect the issue might lie with you,
considering this is the only event that has consistently run for several years, typically on a weekday, and it's quite a phenomenon given how packed it always gets for such sophisticated electronic music. Therefore...

I believe it would be much clearer for everyone if you specified exactly what kind of events and music you actually enjoy.

That settles it, even the heavy hitters are in

What can I say about such an incredible lineup? Even those three guys are among the most influential promoters out there currently...

Each one brings their own specific artist to the table...

Eddy pairing with Simbad
Juice with L-Vis
Jaguar with Electronic music

It really couldn't have been handled any better...

I reckon we’d all have a better idea if you just specified what kind of shows and music you actually vibe with.

Look, I already mentioned that for me the experience was a total disaster—not that I’m telling anyone they have to go listen to 😁

I dig all sorts of music, but I'm not really in the mood to sit here and list them out 🥳 and besides, that’s not even the point of this whole conversation
