Honestly, I’m not even counting the die-hard Tonio Cetinski fans who would show up anywhere or those hardcore electronic music freaks.

They’re honestly the only group I follow—their musical direction and evolution actually make sense to me. The lyrics and the music? Just too good.

Five out of five—not a mistake there. I don’t have anything against them filling out the lineup for this festival, even if I have already sat through their set four times.

P.S. For crying out loud—why on earth did you shove U2 in there with all those monsters and freaks? :-(

You missed the point.

I'm just saying that if I were organizing this, I'd try to pull in fans from neighboring countries by booking a band that's already touring through Europe—and the US is definitely on their radar. Forgive me, but looking at the lineup, there really isn't anyone bigger than Massive Attack—and even they haven't quite hit that "legendary status" peak yet...

Look, you can't please everyone. Personally, I think Billy Idol is pretty mediocre, though I've seen people on other forums acting like he's the greatest thing ever—which I just don't get. But hey, it is what it is. Everything will work out fine, anyway... and trying to compare an English crowd to an American one is a losing battle. People just have completely different mindsets.

Chris Chase5 said:Given how things work in America, they actually let someone like Tonio Cetinski play—you know, the guy who sounds like he's dying a hundred times in every single song.

And what about Molko? Doesn't he die a hundred times a day too?☕

Look, I get it—Massive Attack and Billy Idol could totally headline for me—but where are the other 30 or so bands?

In my humble opinion, a festival like Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival can only really draw people from the surrounding areas, and it would be a missed opportunity for Washington, D.C. not to take advantage of them being on tour nearby at that time.

I included U2 because of the sheer hysteria that gripped the American crowd, where every tenth person before or after the craze had listened to at least one song or CD by the group. The bandwagon mentality shown by my fellow Americans is pathetic and, frankly, quite distasteful to me.

Personally, I feel U2 loses more than they gain with Bono; I don't consider him a particularly high-quality singer, and I think they've lost their signature sound. However, I do agree they aren't in the same league as the other sell-out concerts we see here in America...

For instance, I've never really been a fan of Billy Idol, yet I see people on other forums acting like he's the greatest thing ever, which just doesn't click with me. But hey, whatever, that's just how it goes. Everything will work out fine in the end, though... trying to compare the American audience to an audience in America is basically impossible. People just have completely different mindsets.

To me, Billy Idol falls into that category of washed-up stars who have suddenly decided they need to make an appearance in America. Even if his sound is iconic and he’s got a few timeless hits under his belt...

I mean, don't get me wrong, I could definitely get behind seeing Massive Attack and Billy Idol as headliners, but where are the other thirty or so bands supposed to be?...

If you're looking for some recommendations, I can definitely pull together a few favorites from different artists. I usually find myself circling back to them pretty often depending on my mood. Here’s a little breakdown of what I’ve been listening to lately... **Stone Temple Pilots** I tend to put them on whenever I need something with a bit more grit. I’d say I listen to them maybe once a week. Two tracks that always hit home for me are "Interstate Love Song" and "Plush." There's just a certain raw, melodic quality to their songwriting that feels timeless... **Placebo** They are definitely in my rotation, especially when I'm in a more introspective headspace. I probably listen to them a couple of times a month. "Special Needs" and "Pure Morning" are staples for me. Their musical value lies in that unique ability to blend alternative rock with such an edgy, atmospheric tension... **Massive Attack** When I want to decompress or just zone out, I go straight to them. They're a regular part of my evening listening. "Teardrop" and "Unfinished Sympathy" are absolute essentials. As far as musicality goes, they basically mastered that trip-hop vibe—it's incredibly layered and immersive... **Rise Against** I lean toward them when I need a bit of energy or a sense of purpose. I catch myself playing them quite frequently during the work week. "Prayer of the Refugee" and "Swing Life Away" are two that really resonate. Their strength is definitely in that driving, melodic punk energy paired with lyrics that actually mean something... **The Flaming Lips** These guys are my go-to for something a bit more psychedelic and experimental. I listen to them occasionally when I'm feeling creative. "Race for the Prize" and "Do You Realize??" are beautiful tracks. Their musical value is all about that sheer, colorful imagination and the way they push the boundaries of what a rock song can feel like...

Honestly, trying to compare Toni to an artist whose last three albums have been completely stagnant, while simultaneously comparing him to a band that’s constantly evolving—you know, if you actually had any decent musical training, you'd see how different they are—is just a complete waste of my time...

...he’s been out of it for a long time—ever since he decided to route part of his tour through places like Austin, Belgrade, Washington, D.C., or Ljubljana... all they need now is a stop in some random small town to complete the set.😂

P.S. I was actually hoping the promoters might pull off Stone Temple Pilots (they're active again), but I doubt it'll happen.😢😢

Chris Chase5 said:Give me at least two songs from five other bands—how often are you spinning them, and what’s your take on their musical value?

😂 So, what about the musical value? Does that mean I can get back to you on that later?

Comparing Toni's recent three albums—which, let's be honest, are all pretty much hitting the same note—to a band that’s actually evolving and finding its groove? If you had even a basic grasp of music theory, you'd see how ridiculous that is. One is stagnant; the other has genuine emotion and a signature sound. It's just a nonsensical comparison.

Sure, they should keep evolving—but let’s be real, you can't deny that Placebo is a total downer band. They’re fading out, and Toni is too—just in a different way, obviously. Anyway, have you actually sat down and listened to Toni's last three albums?😬

Hey OP, thanks so much for pulling all this info together! 🙂

🤮Honestly, here we go again—another "this one band is amazing and everything else sucks because they aren't touring" type of thread, right? 🤮
But hey, I have to brag a little—I haven't even read half of these comments yet, so I'm making progress! :S
I actually ran into someone claiming Placebo is a band that’s still evolving... seriously? If that's the case, what on earth is going on with the Flaming Lips? They must have lived through several lifetimes by now, LOL!

Since Broken social scene OP doesn't really have its own dedicated topic, I figured this would be the perfect spot to chat about some new releases... I think World Sick is absolutely fantastic, but Forced to Love was just terrible. As for All to All, I'm still on the fence :S (I've only listened to those two once, so take that with a grain of salt, okay? 😬 )
Also, does anyone happen to know who is actually in the band right now? Like, specifically, who are we actually going to see performing under that name on stage? 😁

What a mess of a schedule. Is there any way to just grab tickets for a single day?

You can, though I think you have to wait until the actual day to grab them. Not before. I'm not 100% sure, though. Maybe check.
Yeah, you can definitely just buy for one day.

They're asking for a bit more cash than most promoters can actually swing.

But somehow, I still find myself clicking on that "read message" button anyway. 😢

And why on earth are you all giving up on Placebo so easily? There’s still a glimmer of hope left, surely. It's just...it's only the end of March.

So, I was sitting there staring up at the night sky—you know, that feeling when you’re just looking up and suddenly everything feels a little too big and a little too quiet—and I started thinking about that old legend, the one about the rabbit in the moon. It’s funny how we try to project these shapes and stories onto empty space just to feel less alone in the dark, isn't it? Most people look up and see a cratered rock, but if you squint just right, there’s that silhouette, that little cosmic bunny just hanging out in the lunar dust. It’s kind of absurd when you really get into it, thinking there's some celestial creature tucked away in the shadows, but honestly, I’ve always preferred those kinds of myths over the cold, hard physics of it all. Science tells you it's just basaltic plains and impact sites, which is fine and all, but where's the soul in that? Where's the whimsy? I think we need the rabbit. We need to believe that even in the middle of a vast, freezing vacuum, there’s something recognizable and a little bit strange looking back at us. It’s a comforting thought, really, even if it is totally irrational. kaže:
How can you say that? Honestly, both sides are just spinning their wheels and doing absolutely nothing of value.

😂 🤣 😂

Dennis Lee87 said:I’m pretty sure some insider leaked that the lineup is going to feature Massive Attack and Billy Idol, though honestly, who knows if you can trust anything these days? 🤷

I’m honestly crossing my fingers that this wasn't some supposed "insider" leaking info and was really just people guessing, because if it actually was an inside scoop, we seriously deserve at least one more big headliner to make it worth the hype. And while we're on the subject, when are they finally going to start dropping the names of the smaller indie acts? I'm dying to know who's actually playing the side stages at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, because frankly, knowing who's hitting the main stage is only half the fun.

Even if it’s totally unrealistic—money aside—they still had a massive gap back then 🙏
