Heh, the 5770 is definitely faster than the 5750... by maybe one single frame per second, if you're lucky 😛

That power draw (220W and 280W) isn't just the card—it's the entire system combined. Watch what you say, okay? People read this stuff and start spreading nonsense like, "Oh, some guy on Reddit told me this." 👍

🙂

Personally? I'd go with the Nvidia GTX 460. But since the price gap is only $167... the 5750 definitely wins on value alone.
Then again, it depends on what you actually want to do. If it’s just movies, browsing, or Word docs? The 5750 is a beast. But if you're gaming? Get the Nvidia GTX 460 and call it a day. Otherwise, you'll regret picking the 5750. 👍

Missed that 😢 But if we're talking about gaming—if you can actually scrape together enough for a GTX—it’s definitely the better move...

I mean, I’m not even looking to play much, but is it really true that I can't run anything at all with a 5750?

come on, seriously...
just saying, maybe look into the power draw and stuff first? just something to keep in mind...
don't go posting things you don't actually get... 👍 (I write stupid stuff all the time too, so I'll be the first to admit it 😬 )

@Noah Ramirez2/">@@Noah Ramirez2... I've got a 5770, and it's a bit better. Like, noticeably better...

I can run basically everything at Full HD or even slightly higher (2048x1152)... stuff like
Mafia II, Call of Duty (any of them), Anno—all those types of games mostly on max settings with everything turned up.
The 5750 will struggle, though. It's gonna sweat a bit more with GTA IV on high settings and all that...

So, maybe I should just grab the 5770 since it's more expensive $33??
Is that actually better?

better?

Yeah, probably better..
but seriously, what's your budget and where are you planning to shop???

I mean, the gap between the Nvidia GTX 460 and the 5770 is $33 (if we're talking about the Nvidia GTX 460 768MB vs the HD5770 1GB)..
that's why I'm asking..

I was thinking maybe up to $1000 just for the tower, so if I stay under 440, I could grab a monitor too.
I'll probably hit up Best Buy since they seem to have the best deals.

So, I mostly just cobbled this together today from their online store

- CPU: AMD AM3 Athlon II X2 255 (3.1 GHz, 2MB, 65W) Box
- MOTHERBOARD: ASRock M3A UCC - AMD 480 X
- GPU: PCI-E ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5/128bit
- PSU: 550W Xilence Office Edition
- RAM: DDR3, 1333MHz 2X2GB Kingmax
- HDD: 500GB WD Caviar Blue SATA II 7200 RPM

TOTAL: $900

I'm thinking about grabbing it from Dell since they seem to have the best prices.

A lot of people will tell you to steer clear of Dell. Sure, they’re usually the cheapest option around, but lately? They've been a total headache. Between the rude service and them trying to nickel and dime you for every little thing—like basic assembly and whatnot—it's just not worth it. Is it actually worth the hassle? Probably not.

Click.Read this...

So, what about everything else?
The Nvidia GTX 460 is sitting around $115? Really?$400 768MB? Yeah. It actually packs more punch than the HD 5770 or the HD 5750. Believe it or not.
The HD 5750 is sitting around $900 to $950. Is that right?
The HD 5770 is sitting around $1050 to $1100... right?

I’d go with the Nvidia GTX 460. I mean, unlike the Nvidia GTS 450 or whatever... why bother with anything else? $67 Nothing to think about. Really.
A hundred bucks difference? Seriously?$67 Is that screen flicker showing up on your monitor too? Or is it just me? $400 Anyone looking at 22 to 23-inch Full HD monitors? 🙂 )

Back again, I guess. :P

So, I finally pulled the trigger on a 5770. Now I'm browsing and stumbled upon a VTX HD5770 1GB for $367, plus a SAPPHIRE HD5770 GDDR5 1GB for $467.

Does anyone actually know what the difference is here???

That’s your call, but honestly? It’s a bad one. For $140, you can easily grab a 6850 or an Nvidia GTX 460 with 1GB that will absolutely demolish this 5770... not to mention you can find a Sapphire 5770 at Best Buy for $366
.

It’s a waste of breath even discussing it. Just pick up a Gainward or a Point of View Nvidia GTX 460 for $115 or maybe $389 and call it a day. At that price point, there's zero point in looking at anything else.

Honestly, why even argue? Just pick up a Gainward or Point of View Nvidia GTX 460 for $1155 or $389 and call it a day. For that price, nothing else makes any sense

fixed it 🙂 switched stores, they've got a Sapphire for $1100

You’re being stubborn 🤣

Just take a look at the performance gap here and try to wrap your head around those $18 differences: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/A...768_MB/31.html

Maybe check out the performance gap here before deciding on those $18 differences: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/A...768_MB/31.html

Where am I even gonna find a 460 at that price to test out the deal? 🙂I haven't seen one for under $140 anywhere
