They're all basically the same... just different versions of the 8800 GTS 320MB from various "manufacturers."
Just pick whichever one you want..

Could someone please advise which graphics card would be the optimal choice for $500? I am looking at the current pricing from Best Buy.

Thank you

Thanks

You really need to list out the rest of your specs—your CPU, your RAM, and most importantly the model, wattage, and age of your power supply.

And can we get the resolution too? 😁

I am considering assembling a new desktop system, and this is the configuration I have in mind:

ASRock M3A770DE, AM3 - AMD 770 + AMD SB710, ATX, FSB2600, Dual C

DDR3 4GB (2x2GB) Kingmax, 1333MHz, FLFE

AMD Phenom II X4 925 Processor, AM3 socket, BOX, 8MB cache, 95W

CORSAIR 500W CX Series Power Supply, ATX, ATX12V v2.3

CoolerMaster Elite 335, black, (W)185 x (H)413 x (L)486 mm, 6kg

WD 500GB HDD, 5000AAKS, SATA II, 16MB Buffer, 7,200 rpm, 8.9 ms

LG Flatron W2240T 22", black, Full HD, LCD, DFC 30000:1

Grab a Seasonic 430W or even the 520W... honestly, this Corsair unit is total junk (and I'm talking specifically about the new CX series).
I noticed there's no GPU listed in your signature—you actually running one?

That is precisely why I am asking; I require the graph, as you previously indicated an interest in seeing the rest of the data set

So, how much more cash are you actually willing to drop on a GPU? That's the real dealbreaker here 🙂

The previous post stated the figure was 1500 🙄

GTX 460 1GB
or the 6850

Personally? I'd go with the GTX 460 1GB

The 6850

That's the GTX 460

And this one's the 6850

But I think this is the best bet for $13 more

Just bump up the clock speeds. Better cooling, plus it's quieter👍

Man, I totally missed the post 😬 even though I checked three times... guess I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning..
Take a look at what I mentioned in my last reply...

Higher clock speeds, better cooling, and way quieter too.

Why's the 6850 cheaper than the 5850?

It’s just a bit weaker, I guess. Personally, I’d probably grab the Radeon HD 6850 even if they were priced the same.☕

Because the 5850 is more powerful than the 6850.

Total joke—they drop the newer model and it’s somehow even weaker than the last one... 😁

I guess it wasn't really meant to outperform the HD 58xx series; the HD 6850 and HD 6870 are basically just successors to the HD 5750/5770. 😁

The Radeon HD 6950/6970 should be out in two weeks, and those will actually be going head-to-head with the GeForce GTX 480/580. 😉
