Is this actually worth grabbing if the price is dirt cheap? http://cgi.ebay.com/550w-650w-ATX-Po...item45f617d285

Of course not—have you actually looked at the shipping costs? It's $45 just to get it to your door! For that kind of extra cash, you could be getting a much higher-quality power supply right out of the gate.
Besides, there isn't even any clear information listed about which specific model we're looking at, so honestly, who knows if it's just some cheap junk...

This is a King Power power supply.
King Power belongs in that same "avoid at all costs if you don't want to fry your PC" category due to its generally poor build quality.

Need some advice here. Which one of these two power supplies would you guys go with?
600W SCYTHE Stronger Plug In
or
620W ENERMAX Liberty ECO II

620W ENERMAX Liberty ECO II

What kind of build are we talking about here? Do you really need that much raw wattage?
Now, look—Enermax is easily at the top of the food chain when it comes to sheer build quality, but you’re definitely paying a premium for that name. The Scythe Stronger series is solid too (it might not quite hit that same elite tier as Enermax, but it isn't lagging far behind)...
At the end of the day, though, we're talking about sinking a massive amount of cash into a power supply.

I need a power supply for this build
ASUS P8P67 Le motherboard, iP67 Rev B3, DDR3, audio, S-ATA, RAID, G-LAN, PCI-E, eSATA, USB 3.0, CrossFire, FW, ATX, socket 1155
Intel Core i7 2600 processor, box, socket 1155, 3.40GHz, 9MB cache, integrated graphics, quad Core
PC-10600 memory, 4 GB KINGMAX, DDR3 1333 MHz, 2x2GB kit
1000.0 GB hard drive, WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar Black, SATA3, 64MB cache, 7200rpm, desktop
PCI-E SAPPHIRE AMD RADEON HD 6970 graphics card, 2GB DDR5, HDMI, DVI, DP, D-SUB, HDTV
Thinking about an Enermax, but would I be making a mistake if I went with Scythe instead? They both have 600 w options. Doesn't seem overkill, but I definitely wouldn't want to go any lower than that for this setup...

A 500W unit is more than enough for this setup. Honestly, if you're looking at that specific range, the Seasonic 520 w is easily the smartest buy you can make.
Now, if you aren't strictly stuck choosing between just those two models and you’re looking to step things up a notch, I’d personally recommend the Corsair VX 550 w—you get plenty of overhead in terms of power, plus it comes with a solid 5-year warranty.
That said, generally speaking, you really can't go wrong with 😉Scythe
either; they're reliable.

Those Liberty power supplies from Enermax were about as reliable as a screen door on a submarine—I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole. I’d much rather go with Scythe.
Anyway, I'm on the hunt for a modular PSU somewhere in the 500W ballpark (it's gotta handle an i5 2500K paired with a GTX 460), but Corsair doesn't seem to carry anything in that range. Right now, my options are basically either the Scythe Gouriki 3 or the Cooler Master real Power M520. Honestly, I have zero clue how Cooler Master units perform in general—this thing is a few years old, so I haven't been able to find any decent, modern reviews online. 🤷

I would appreciate some suggestions for a configuration centered around an AMD Phenom II (quad Core) X4 955 running at 3.2GHz with 4 GB of RAM. I also intend to add a dedicated graphics card to this setup eventually, though I have yet to make a final decision on which model to select.

It all comes down to which card you pick...
A Seasonic 380w might cut it, but honestly? You'd probably be better off grabbing a Seasonic 520 w... 🙂

What’s a good modular PSU I can grab here in the States without breaking the bank?
I want something decent, you know... solid brand, actually reliable..
Decided it’s finally time to ditch this old Seasonic 520 w 👍

For anyone interested, here’s a handy little cross-reference table covering basically every possible power supply out there—both the good and the garbage—along with their max 12V combo ratings:

It’s great for a quick glance, plus there's some other useful info tucked in there too... 😁

My Antec pulls 52 amps on the 12V rail... (split across three rails)..
But it still puts out a solid 624W

How am I supposed to know which power supply to pick?
What actually matters when I'm trying to choose one?
