True, and the link shows it for $136 as low as 19.2

Well, thanks for clearing things up for me, I guess... But what’s your take on this power supply unit here:

LC POWER Silent Giant GREEN POWER LC6650GP3 V2.3, 140mm vent. 650W?

I’ve noticed people aren't really raving about it much lately, though the price tag is sitting right around $117, so if it actually lived up to the hype, it would probably be my first choice... assuming the cables aren't ridiculously short

I’m trying to figure out if I need to upgrade my power supply. My current setup is running an Intel Core 2 Duo on an ASUS P3-AE5 motherboard, paired with an NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT. Right now, I’ve just got a generic 400W unit that came bundled with the case, and frankly, it's a total question mark. Any advice? Thanks.

Thanks!

Since you're working with a Barebone desktop case, the power supplies tend to be a bit odd—narrower and longer than what you'd find in a standard American desktop tower. If you aren't planning on upgrading to a high-end graphics card that requires its own dedicated power connectors, and if this current unit hasn't given you any grief so far, I guess there isn't much point in swapping it out. 🙂
Based on what's listed online, a 275W unit should technically be enough.

According to the specs online, that thing should be pulling about 275 Watts.

Well, thanks for the input. I'm hardly a tech expert, so that actually clears things up for me. Thanks again.🙂

EVGA Power Supply, 650W with a 140mm fan?

I noticed people don't seem to be raving about it as much lately, but since it's sitting around $117, I figured I might grab it first if it really is as solid as the rumors suggest. Assuming, of course, the cables aren't too short.

Where on earth did you find one for $117.

I have a question regarding whether an EVGA Power Supply
Intel Core i5 PC Build
ASUS M4A88T-M
MSI HD5550
2 HDDs and 1 DVD-RW

And will there be enough headroom if I decide to swap in a beefier GPU and an SSD down the road?

Yeah, you're good. Plenty of room left.

My mistake, I misread that initially, though I wasn't too far off regarding the portion size $130 , here's the link $148

Joshua Garcia3, what's your take on this??

It says it's available, and if that's actually the case, I'm wondering if this is a smart move... I noticed it has 2 x PCI-E connectors, and while I'm not entirely certain how many the AMD Radeon HD 6870 Hawk I'll probably grab requires, if it needs two, I shouldn't have any issues...

For about six months now, I’ve been slowly upgrading an old rig. Right now, I’m running an Intel Core i5 PC Build with three hard drives, an 8800 GTS, 8 GB of RAM, and a five-year-old 550W Corsair power supply.
The old GPU and this PSU are next on my list to swap out. Since I was advised to hold off on the newer Kepler cards for a bit, it’s time to focus on the power supply first.

To make matters worse, I’ve run into some recent issues—likely the PSU. When I boot up, everything spins for about two seconds before it shuts down, followed by a continuous loop of starting and stopping until I pull the plug entirely. Once I reconnect it, it boots normally. It doesn't crash mid-game; it just acts up after sitting overnight.

Anyway, what PSU should I get? Just something reliable that can handle this setup plus a future GPU upgrade for the next 3 or 4 years.
I'm not considering overclocking right now since I don't know much about it, though who knows what I might feel like doing down the road.

Ideally, I'd grab it from Best Buy since it's relatively close to me.
They currently have a 500W Corsair Series on sale for $125.
How good is that? And what would you recommend instead?
Looking for something budget-friendly that isn't total Scrap Yard quality.

Thanks.

I'm not really sure about those new Corsair units; they haven't exactly built a massive reputation yet.

If you ask me, you should probably go with

I’ve been hunting for some advice on a quiet power supply for this specific setup: an Intel Core 2 Duo E5700, an ASUS EN210, an ASRock 4coredual-sata2, 2GB of DDR2, a 160GB HDD, and a DVD drive... and someone actually suggested the LC Power Super Silent Series 600W. Now, look, I was originally planning on grabbing a Corsair Series unit, but since I was handed this cheaper alternative, I can't help but wonder if it’s actually worth anything. I mean, 600W for $117... seems a bit sketchy (to put it bluntly, it feels like Scrap Yard) 😁... doesn't it?

Forget about that XFX unit, honestly. I’m not exactly planning on dropping cash on a new power supply tomorrow, and the local shop doesn't even carry it—plus, seeing it on Newegg right now? Way too overpriced... so really, I just want to know what you guys think about these two specific options. Is the CX430 actually quiet enough to not drive me crazy?

Stretch for $3.25 and grab this:
http://www.amazon.com/power-supply-unit...

It’s a way better pick than that "600w" unit. Besides, Corsair's new CX series didn't exactly win any awards either.

Someone ought to find quietly, high-quality power supply. I'm looking at this build: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, an ATI 4670, two drives (1 TB and 250 GB), and 2GB of RAM. I'm planning on throwing in at least another 2GB of RAM in the near future.

Hey everyone..
I'm looking for some power supply recommendations for my next build. Give me a few ideas—maybe a minimum wattage and an ideal target so I can make a final call later on...

GPU ..........AMD Radeon HD 6870 Series

Motherboard...........Gigabyte 3870

CPU..........Intel Core i5 2320 box

HDD.................Just looking for a standard 7200rpm drive (that should be enough info to figure out the PSU requirements, right?)

RAM.................4GB DDR3 1333 (for now, though I might toss in another 4GB stick down the road)

Not sure which soldering iron I'll grab yet, probably just a basic one from Home Depot.

Thinking about picking up this case

Alright, help me out with the PSU choices!
