They offer a five-year warranty on this, which says a lot about the quality of the power supply.

Thanks so much for the help... I think I’m going to end up pulling the trigger on an XFX card tomorrow 🙂 because I really need that specific VTX 3D ATI Radeon HD 4850 1GB DDR5... I’ve heard some chatter about them being a bit power-hungry, so I'll send over the link once I'm back at my desk, since typing this out on my Samsung Galaxy S is proving to be a bit of a chore... but from what I can see, XFX builds such high-quality gear that I'm leaning toward grabbing that one.

XFX uses the same design philosophy as Seasonic, and Seasonic is gold standard.🙂

Just wanted to double-check here, because this specific listing mentions a minimum system Power Requirement 450 w, and I’d much rather ask around now than realize I've wasted my hard-earned cash on something that won't actually work once I get it home. 🙂

That's the price for the whole rig, not just the GPU 🙂

My apologies, I really missed the mark there 🙂

Anyway, I’ve decided that when I head over to Best Buy tomorrow, I’m going to pick up this XFX card. It should be significantly quieter than what I’m running right now, which is a relief because my current setup has been driving me absolutely crazy; it’s honestly unsettling how much the fan noise spikes the second I launch any application 🙂

I appreciate everyone's patience, and sorry if I caused any confusion. I'll be heading out to grab this 🙂tomorrow

Anyway, I'm hitting up Best Buy tomorrow to grab this XFX. It’ll definitely be quieter than my current setup. My present one drives me insane—it's like the second I launch any app, the PC just starts screaming at me. Totally unnatural. 🙂

Thanks everyone. Sorry if I was being a pain. Heading out for this 🙂

Don't hold your breath. I put a beefier 550W unit in a buddy's rig for his SLI setup and you can barely hear it running.

I’ve got an XFX card myself, and honestly, it probably won't let you down—it's pretty solid. I guess you should just register on their site right after you buy it to snag that 5-year warranty 🙂

Anyway, I'm pretty sure there isn't an HD 4850 with DDR5 memory—that description seems a bit off, I guess...

Oh, it definitely exists. 🙂

It isn't a mistake at all; it really does have DDR5, 🙂 which is exactly why I'm picking one up. They're incredibly affordable and perform remarkably well for what they are. 😁

I was actually planning on joining the conversation anyway, so I went ahead and signed up right away. 🙂

Let me check again... it’s kind of weird that it isn't showing up on any of the GPU charts I've looked at so far.

Take a look over here. I caught that same thing myself earlier. By the way, I ended up pulling the trigger on an AMD power supply, so thanks for all the solid advice! 🙂

Has anyone here actually messed around with Dell power supplies? A buddy of mine picked one up recently and he’s swearing by it—claims everything is running smooth. He even mentioned they handle high-end builds without breaking a sweat... I don't know. To me, they just look a little too budget-friendly to be legit, almost like they're cutting corners somewhere. 🤷

Get outta here. You honestly think anything built for $53 is gonna be high quality if it's claiming to be "500w"?

He even mentioned they can handle some pretty beefy builds without breaking a sweat... Personally, I don't know. They look way too cheap to me. Feels like a gamble on reliability if you ask me. 🤷

Here’s what I’m running right now: Intel Core i5 with ASUS motherboard
Asrock z68 extreme gen3
sapphire hd 7850
wd green 750 gb hdd
60 gb mushkin ssd
cm 692 advanced x2 kkn5
2x4 gb skillex memory
lg gh24 dvd drive

I’m looking to pick up a new power supply for this setup $183, ideally something on the quieter side, and I'd love some recommendations from the usual suspects over at Newegg, Micro Center, or maybe Amazon. Thanks!

I’d probably just grab the XFX 450 w. The 7850 isn't exactly a power hog, and your CPU isn't pulling that much juice either, I guess.

But the Intel Core i5 2500 needs plenty of power if you're planning on overclocking.
It's easily one of the top-tier power supplies out there. Plus, it's currently on sale $183
