Regarding those bugs, I actually caught a glimpse of something similar—like a snout firing blue lasers.🙄

It’s probably just some kind of plasma stinger.

Oh, right. Was it just me, or were there some massive robots in that movie too??

Those are those suits I was talking about a few posts back. This is actually the first time we're seeing those suits on screen, even though they were mentioned in the book. Basically, every soldier hops into one while they're in orbit and then they just plummet through the atmosphere like a Transformer.

BTW, I honestly don't buy the idea that this movie is going to be some cheap flop like some people are claiming. Word is the budget was around 20 million USD.

Wasn't that already in the first movie?
That "Fire in the hole" scene.

Yeah, but from what I remember about the book, they lean into that much harder. It’s way more aggressive. 😁

"Aggressively," you say.😁
As far as I can tell, blowing up entire mountains😂 has always been...😲

Yeah, sure, because in the book they act like those little nukes are just being hit by standard bullets like something straight out of a Rambo movie. 😁

😂😂
I'm with you there, though I wouldn't call myself a huge Rambo fan.
My main hope is that the movie isn't some rushed, short runtime thing. It’s a shame they didn't include that blonde guy from the unit.
(you know, that totally unhinged Ricov friend).
I think if he were in it, the whole movie would be legendary.

My only real condition is that the movie shouldn't be too short. It’s honestly such a bummer they didn't include that blonde guy from the squad.
(you know, that totally unhinged Ricov buddy).
I really think the movie would have been absolute fire if he was in it.

Are you talking about Riley (Jake Busey) or that "Gestapo" type 😁 Neil Patrick Harris (who's basically a staple in the Harold and Kumar film series now 😁)?

BTW, I thought Clancy Brown was legendary playing Sergeant Zim. 😁

By the way, I always felt like Clancy Brown was the absolute authority when he played Sergeant Zim. 😁

I’m thinking about Riley. Honestly, the guy is just top-tier.
Is Zim the guy who lost his leg in that trap?

Nah, that's actually Jean Rasczak, played by Michael Ironside.

I mean, honestly, it wasn't even intentional... Desmond just ended up killing him while they were out on that island... 🙄

Yeah. Now I finally see who he actually is.
First, he was working under Ric, but then the roles flipped.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that actor play the villain in Highlander? 😕

Look, I knew who the villain was, I just blanked on the fact that Clancy Brown played him. Heh. And from what I can tell, Rasczak, played by Michael Ironside, was the bad guy in Highlander 2.🤣div>

Every recent Seagalov flick has a $20M budget too, so you tell me how that looks.😉🤣

I bet they blew that whole $20 mil just trying to make the effects look decent, but judging by the trailer, the directing and framing look pretty trashy and low-budget...
We'll know for sure once we actually sit down and watch it.

You're spot on. I'm not exactly out here setting my expectations through the roof either, but it’ll definitely be an interesting watch regardless.

Speaking of budgets, look at those two Stargate SG-1 movies (Ark of Truth and Continuum). They both pulled in about 8 to 9 million USD each, and honestly, they look great—especially Continuum based on what we've seen in the trailer—even if they were just direct-to-DVD releases. But you really have to keep one thing in mind there: you had the full weight of MGM behind them. Plus, they had the legacy of ten seasons of Stargate SG-1 and four (soon going on five) seasons of Atlantis to lean on. Not to mention the US Air Force and US Navy stepped up too, giving them access to fighter jets, a submarine, and even a base in the Arctic.

Anyway, I skimmed through the movie trailer earlier and even with my usual skepticism, I gotta say it looks pretty damn cool... fingers crossed it actually holds up😁
