The price has actually dropped quite a bit. When you consider how much cheaper the CPU is compared to an AM4 setup with an R5 1400—plus the savings on an AM3+ motherboard versus AM4—it's a different story. Even with an FX chip overclocked to 4.5 GHz, it still holds its own against the cheapest Ryzen 5 options in gaming. Honestly, it remains a solid value even by today's standards.

An R5 1600 with a 3% discount from Micro Center would actually fall under $533 click

The main reason for this shift is the weakening dollar

So how much did you actually pay for it, tough guy? 😛

*(or why didn't you just grab a Focus plus 850 w 😬)

😬 I think I'm just gonna go pirate everything anyway... I don't really need 850W, and besides, the power bill is already going through the roof 🤣

For $13 more, I'd definitely go with the Focus plus 850 w. It runs passively up to about a 400W load, so I guess you'll always 😁

The 550W model has a decent price point, but if we're comparing it directly to the 850W version, logic dictates that the 550W should be even more affordable.

EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Ultra - from $1941

It’s definitely not a total steal 😬... but I guess if money isn't really an issue, it's a decent price.

Question.
Does anyone know if there's a computer store out there that lets you pay with a debit card on an installment plan online?

You can do it at Links if you're using JP Morgan Chase.

Nah, I'm with Bank of America.
So there's no middle ground—it's either the full cash amount upfront, or I have to drive all the way into Chicago if I want to deal with installments.
