Decent time to grab a CPU.

If the R5 3600 hits the $200 mark, it makes sense.
Still, nothing groundbreaking. How many years ago did we pay this much for a dual-core i3?

Exactly. That’s why I always include the price right in the link—I don't want anyone coming after me saying, "WTF, Timothy Kim60 is drinking the profits."

I mean, look, it isn't even $533 bad, but they've spoiled us with all those sales lately. We've gotten used to seeing $1200-$433 as the absolute
standard.

Prices on the 2000 series are gonna tank once the new stuff drops. The 1000 series is probably mostly cleared out by now anyway.
If the new 3600 hits at $200, and we see it starting here at maybe $600, performance-wise—multi-threaded—it’ll be sitting right near the old 1700s. Prices have to drop.

That 1600 for $310 is still a killer deal.

Around $280

Silicon Valley ships to the US.
But honestly? With a GTX1660Ti in the mix, I don't think it's worth the money.

AMD 56 is faster, plus it’s $30 cheaper 🤷

Over at Silicon Valley, there was a sale for about $265, which works out to roughly $290 with shipping to the US. Not sure if they even ship here.

Yeah, the 1660Ti is maybe 7-8% slower than the AMD 56. It's a decent enough deal, but once you factor in shipping, it ends up costing about the same as the 1660Ti. Honestly? For that price, I’d probably just grab the Alan Turing.

What an absurd value... Just a few years ago, you could get a 6c/12t processor with Haswell-level IPC for $293 LOL... 😵

Between the new optimizations and those security headaches over at Intel, that IPC is actually better than Haswell.

It depends on what kind of software you're running, maybe somewhere in the Broadwell era... But honestly, if we're looking at today's budget CPUs, IPC isn't really the dealbreaker. It’s all about the core and thread count instead, especially when your alternatives are sitting below $333 quad-cores or 2c4t setups... basically, more is always better.
