Personally, I haven't run into any issues yet. Using Amazon US, Amazon UK, and so on, has been smooth sailing.

That's exactly how I did it too. I grabbed my RAM first while the prices were low (it sat there for about two months, but I saved $167), then snagged the CPU during Black Friday, and finally, I think I picked up the motherboard last.

That’s my exact strategy too—grabbed the RAM first before prices spiked (it sat around for two months, but I saved $167), then picked up the CPU during Black Friday, and now I'm looking at the motherboard.

I'm leaning towards G.Skill.
They might be slightly pricier, but the Trident Z series is thoroughly proven with Ryzen.

As for the board, absolutely. I won't see ch7 at this price point again for at least a year and a half, and honestly, it's an incredible deal considering this is a top-of-the-line board. For an X570, the only real drawbacks are the lack of support for ultra-fast RAM (which is negligible) and PCI 4.0. Look, I won't be maxing out 2.0 anyway, and I definitely won't be using an NVMe.

Maybe grab that Micron E-die from the link I shared; they're pretty much on par with Samsung B-Die.

For an X370, the only real downsides are the lack of high-speed RAM support (which is negligible) and PCI 4.0. I mean, I won't be maxing out 2.0 anyway, and I'm definitely not planning on getting an NVMe.

Older boards actually do support PCI-E 4.0; I previously linked some tests from Hardware News, though they haven't been verified specifically for this setup (SSD 4.0 speed tests on my X370 Prime Pro looked identical to X570 results). It seems they just disabled that support via newer BIOS updates—you can check the official sites to see which specific versions have it listed.

If you're buying right now, grab the RAM that crimsonstag84 linked...

Don't write off NVMe entirely, though; they've become quite affordable. For instance, the Intel 660p 512GB is a pretty great value

Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 590 Special Edition, 8 GB - $566

The price is fair and the cooling solution is top-notch, but we should see something similar based on the Navi architecture hitting the market soon at a comparable price point—only it'll be much more efficient.

Hold on a second, the GTX 1660 is actually $50 pricier, and roughly just as fast as the RX 590 when you look at the performance ratio.

The price seems okay since it's from a local shop, but honestly? I don't think this is a great deal. Around here, the value on these cards is pretty inflated given how the market is acting right now. I mean, AMD is dropping a whole new series soon, and the competition at this exact price point is offering stuff that's newer and way better. If you check out Computer Universe, they have basically every model, and instead of seeing the gaming x versions 😁, most of them have been sitting there for about $500. My guess is that big-box retailers are going to be dumping all this "older" stock during Black Friday, so we might see some actually decent discounts then. And when I say retailers, I’m talking about the major US online shops—local mom-and-pop stores around here will probably still be charging the same ridiculous prices two years from now.

Honestly, it’s a solid deal—the price is actually realistic compared to what we’ve seen before. I’m betting we’ll see some major discounts on Polaris cards (and maybe even some Vega models) over on Amazon during Black Friday.

Over in Germany, those Vega blowers are going for about $235.

It’s priced identically to the non-K version...

Actually, this is just the non-X version; the name is probably just a typo 😛

Hey,

Not sure if this is the right thread, but since there's "Home Theater PC" in the title, I figured I'd drop it here.

Got some leftover parts after an upgrade, so I’m thinking of putting together a Home Theater PC—saves me from having to leave my main rig running 24/7 just to run Netflix.
Since I'm building a second machine anyway, I might toss in a storage HDD now and maybe add more drives later to turn it into a NAS.

Current setup: B75-Pro3-M, i5 3350p, 8GB RAM, and a ST50F-ES 500W PSU.
The catch is I don't have a GPU, and the CPU doesn't have integrated graphics—so what's the move here?
Saw an NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 for $107 on eBay, which seems alright, but let me know if you guys have better ideas.

Also need a small case and a tiny HDD or SSD for the OS.

Any tips or advice would be huge.

The GT 1030 is basically the smartest play for a Home Theater PC. It sips power and doesn't require a massive PSU, plus it isn't some ancient piece of junk.

Since you’re running a standard ATX power supply and a regular motherboard, you can't really squeeze this into a tiny case. Just look for the smallest Micro-ATX case you can find.

As for the hard drive, don't bother with those small 2.5" drives. A standard 3.5" drive will fit in just about any case anyway, so just grab whatever capacity makes sense for you.

You could grab an SSD if you want things to feel snappy, but if this is strictly for a Home Theater PC, you can save the cash and skip it.

Intel Core i5-7600K + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 + stock cooler - $700

https://www.amazon.com/intel-core-i5-7600k/s?k=intel+core+i5-7600k

If you were to hunt these down individually at the lowest prices available, you'd end up paying about 200-$100 more

Furthermore

https://www.newegg.com/p/amd-ryzen-7...

$419 even after factoring in an $8.90 shipping fee, there's mention of using a promo code like "FREESHIP" for free delivery on orders over $40, but don't quote me on that.

Man, I still remember building my first rig and just settling for $367 16GB of 2666MHz RAM.

I felt like I hit the jackpot when I snagged 16GB for $363, especially since prices shot up so fast by $500... Looking at things now, it’s wild that we can just cram 16GB into an entry-level build with a quad-core processor.

How does this RAM perform with a Ryzen compared to something like Corsair?

Look, if you're getting this kind of performance for the price, who cares how it actually runs? 😁

Also, I know quite a few people were complaining about those Patriot kits—especially the ones paired with 1st gen Ryzen CPUs and 300-series boards where they couldn't hit top speeds—but overall, it shouldn't be an issue.
