Alright, it could have been better, honestly.
To be fair, Sonic Youth sounded pretty rough to me—but hey, that whole balloon scene was a blast!

The absolute highlights were definitely Schizophrenia, their new tracks (the second song was Incinerate, then Reena, followed by Do you believe in Rapture, What a Waste, Jams Run Free, and Pink Steam), plus 100%! Oh, and they played Kool Thing too. 🙏

Everyone just sat through TBF—Rose was kind of a letdown for me, but the Happy Mondays were such a vibe! That guy jumping all over the stage is seriously adorable. 😬 🙂
My Friend mentioned that the Blue Jays are cute, though I didn't catch them.
I caught part of the Colored set, which was okay, but I missed the New York Dolls—they were playing Trash. 🙂
Luckily, I didn't even hear them, even though the stages are way too close together.

The trash cans are just your typical Central Park ones. 😕
Anyway, I totally agree—those wristbands are a disaster! They told me mine was bad (it's sticking out huge, just like everyone else's), and now it’s actually itchy. I wonder what silentgull13 is going to tell us at the meeting tomorrow? I really hope so. And that voucher system is just terrible... I'm crossing my fingers that today's ones still work for tomorrow.

Thurston is such an icon. Kim is so quiet (well, I won't say she's too loud!).

If I had seen this sooner, I would have saved an hour of walking aimlessly around Central Park in the wrong direction. 🙄

The concert and the AAA organization were great; I have no complaints.

That whole voucher system seemed silly at first, but it actually works quite well in practice. 🙂

Edit: It's true about the trash, but everyone just drops things on the ground anyway. The field was cleaned up perfectly by the time I headed home around 2 AM. 😳🙏

The organizers were total trash.
The beer sucked too.
Sonic Youth was good, but they weren't anything special.
The Colored lineup was classic perfection, though.
Everything else I caught just passing by didn't really hit the spot (even if Happy Mondays sounded decent from a distance).

Highlights of the night:
Megan Rodriguez44, who only realized on her way home after a full day out that all four of her hubcaps had been swiped from her car this morning.
A massive love message from gentlepuma20 to stormyviper11 flashed on the big screen.
Finally met Jessica Wright and realized she actually has that little symbol next to her name.

Today I’m skipping Billie; honestly, they’re a hundred times better in smaller venues anyway. I actually wanted to see all four headliners, but since none of them felt as intense as SY or OP, we’re just gonna keep it chill. Plus, I’m still debating between that stinky liquid they call Tuborg and just sticking to water...

I didn't catch the Colored program yesterday, but I saw it about a year ago back in St. Louis.

You’re way too young to be talking about the OP, honestly most of the crowd was just a bunch of retirees and folks hitting their golden years hanging out by the stage. Though, for what it's worth, the audience was insanely far from the actual action... you could tell because when the drummer tossed his stick toward the crowd, he couldn't even reach the front row 😬

Sonic Youth weren't just good, they were freaking legendary 🙏
Dear organizers, you seriously screwed us over with those wristbands, and I’ve got a meeting today too! 🙈 🙂

The bottom line:

I haven't seen a Happy Monday in a long time... spent two hoursb> waiting in line for drink and food vouchers!!! :ubij se: :ubij se: :ubij se:

Once we finally grabbed the vouchers, we had to find a restroom. ("Tojaying" is what we call it... 😎 John Doe would have definitely thought of that term.) Luckily, finding a spot wasn't the hardest part. It was just pitch black, making it impossible to aim, and you really don't want to be feeling around blindly for... well, you know... 🙂so...

And then.
The beer dispenser was broken! Right down by the Apple stage. 😵 Oh, it was awful; I wasted over twenty minutes there. The New York Dolls had already started. They played two or three songs while I was still fighting for a single drop of yellowish bubbly liquid called Bud Light.

Anyway, I managed to catch one full set of theirs, then joined the stampede toward the VIP stage where Sonic Youth was supposed to start rocking out.

Oh, Sonic Youth...! 😍 Yes, yes, yes, yes! Finally, finally, pure bliss—Sonic Youth live! Right in front of me! Shredding! 😍 I knew they’d blow through those tracks from their last album that I've been playing on my iPod lately, and man, it was incredible. :-)

Then hunger hit. No way we were making it to dinner time. We hung out for a bit with some famous faces we ran into along the way, then decided to head back toward Brooklyn. We had to get moving, though; our crew has work early tomorrow.

But. BUT! The cops pulled us over right at the exit of Central Park! Right us! Two innocent girls! Two leading the way, three hooligans behind us, and another girl trailing along... I mean, how is that a crime?! They seemed a little tipsy themselves (if you ask me, how did they manage that much on those watery beers 🙄?), but the two of us were totally sober. They harassed us for half an hour. My friend blew up a zero, they kept grilling her, and we young ones just took the heat... Meanwhile, all these crazies rolling out of Central Park looking high or wasted (I didn't see them, but I'm sure they were 😁) walk right past without being stopped! 😠 Then there was the car re-parking, a $700 fine, debating whether to grab a taxi or take the subway home...

So far, I've spent:
$83 on the ticket (thank God I bought it early)
$50 on drinks (still have some left)
$10 on food (not even spent yet)
$67 my share of the fine, which was $233:rolajz:
$5.25 on a sandwich in Beverly Hills 😬, though I think the guy messed up the order
$10 on those star earrings I fell in love with like a little kid :rolajz:
$6.00 on parking
And the first day isn't even over yet. :bonkanje:

Only slept from 3 to 5.

---

I was supposed to write something about the music, right...? 😳

Oldest in line: 🙂

The opener was killer, and Sonic Youth killed it too. Everything else? Meh. Walking back to the car was a trek 👎 Organization—they can definitely do better next year.

I just hope we don't get slammed by a downpour today...

and you're just being mean 😁
If I saw you stumbling toward a dry throat without even a drop of water to splash on your face 😢
then standing there in line, having no clue what you're waiting for or how long it'll take... you wouldn't even leave because you think "just a little more, just a little more, it's coming soon" 🙄
at least you have some friends to hang out with 🙂
I’d love to say hi to someone in line right now, but I don't want anyone complaining about me 🙂

And we might even make it to see my mother today 🙂
though everyone is really looking forward to The Hold Steady !!! and Iggy Pop 👋 👋

Man, I swear, were the Happy Mondays actually part of that whole no wave scene or what? Honestly, if they weren't, I don't even care...

Róisín Murphy is just incredible—and Sonic Youth was absolutely killer. They honestly deserve 100% of my love, every bit of it!🙂I used to think the Happy Mondays were kind of mediocre, but then I caught the New York Dolls live and totally changed my mind.🙂

I rolled up around 6:30 PM, so I managed to grab my drink tokens pretty quickly and breezed right through the entrance without any drama. Though, I gotta wonder about Dave's whole system with these tokens... wouldn't it be way more logical if every drink cost the same and it was just one token per beverage? Makes much more sense, right?

So, how did things shake out after midnight?

I stood in line for nearly an hour waiting to redeem my vouchers, only to reach the food stand and realize everyone else was just paying cash for their burgers.
Why on earth did I waste my time standing in that queue then?
