Byrne actually played at the factory a few years back, and man, that show was incredible. He's an old pro, but he's still got all the moves 🤣

wanderingraven20 said:He played at Carnegie Hall back on October 30, 1994. Just him and an acoustic guitar, covering all the Talking Heads hits. 😍

Later, he ended up at some house party, jumped on stage out of nowhere, and played a few more hits. It was a blast for everyone involved. 🙏

I think around 1995, he had a solo photography exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. He gave me one of his signed art prints, but I ended up giving it to my sister later on. 😵

Anyone here actually keeping tabs on what’s been happening at ZGu lately? 😬
Byrne performed at the factory about two and a half years ago.

EDIT: Adam Moore 👍

It should have been more... because if it had happened two and a half years ago, I’d already be living in Los Angeles and would've happily headed out to that concert by now.🤔

R.E.M. could totally pull off a summer tour, but I’ve got a bad feeling they’d cost an absolute fortune...

you better run 🙂

Are you guys out of your minds? 🙄

Kevin Chavez3 said:Screw seeing Cave at Carnegie Hall—he needs to be out in the mud and the dark, maybe with a storm rolling in to set the mood for something like "Tulapelo," for example. 🙂

🙂

As long as it's just thunder and lightning—rain can wait until the show is over. 😁

I wonder if it’s even possible to squeeze Cave, Jamiroquai, ISIS, Manu Chao, Róisín Murphy, and The Stranglers all into a single day? Maybe I could just breeze through them all at once and skip the rest elegantly? 🙂

Whoa, hold on now!
We're talking about the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival here.
VIP status. High-end cell service, premium everything...
I mean, who actually has more cash on them than those crowds?
🤷

Michelle Hall9 said:I’m not feeling this one at all. What kind of leap year dates are Tuesday and Wednesday? 😠 Honest people have college classes to attend or travel plans to make. I don't know, 🤷 if there isn't some spectacular headliner—something like Radiohead, which isn't happening—then I'm out.

Look, the dates being midweek is definitely a bummer, but let's be real: the US market isn't going to dictate terms to giants like Germany or the Netherlands just yet. You have to consider the scheduling. The weekend right before this features Primavera in Barcelona and Pinkpop in the Netherlands, and the following weekend is Rock am Ring/Rock im Park, both of which have much deeper traditions than Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Later weekends are already booked up too—think Lollapalooza, Heineken in Venice, Southside, Roskilde, and so on. Plus, since Cave & the Seeds are touring during that exact window, the dates are being adjusted to fit their schedule. Maybe in a few years, our local market will have enough leverage to set its own conditions, but for now, we just don't have that luxury.

On top of that, the European Soccer Championship kicks off right around those same days this year. It wouldn't make any sense to host a festival on June 29th when the final is 🙂

🙂

And honestly—yes—David Byrne was absolutely phenomenal during that set at Brooklyn Brewery. It wasn't exactly a packed house, but the man danced like he was possessed... just pure energy radiating off him. He performed a selection of Talking Heads hits, but with these incredibly wild, experimental arrangements involving a string section... truly something else. I really wish he would tour back this way... 🙂

That’s all well and good, but I guess Cave just carries more weight. Maybe David Byrne won't draw quite as much of a crowd 😢

Rage Against the Machine is officially confirmed for Lollapalooza.
The Magic Numbers and Smashing Pumpkins are set for Pinkpop, for instance.

Portishead and Okkervil River will be performing at Primavera Sound... and so on.

I wish they’d throw us a few crumbs from that table.😬

magic numbers 😍

It would be an absolute massive win if they could actually land them for Coachella 👋

I honestly can't remember a single concert in my life where I felt more hyped than when I saw them live 🙏

No matter how you look at it—really, if you take any angle at all—this festival is going to be an absolute beast... 🤮
