I disagree completely.
It makes you bloated, wreaks havoc on your digestion, and frankly, leaves you with some pretty questionable-smelling gas afterward.

A friend of mine was out at a music festival in the Rockies and ordered a vodka juice mix.

Even if the beer is absolute garbage, I can never leave an IEEE gathering without having at least four pints. The trick? You just knock two or three of them down lightning-fast, and then, honestly, who cares about the quality? Besides, I think I’ve built up a bit of a tolerance, so the headaches aren't really an issue anymore. On a different note—you should definitely check out Stillness! They’re super socially conscious and have a great urban vibe. 😬

Anyway, the beer has actually been better this past week than it used to be, and it definitely beats that whipped cream beer they were serving at the campus pub. But if it’s just a matter of luck, then we're stuck in a situation where quantity is being traded for quality, and the only way out is 🙂

your programming is garbage. I’m not one of those people who constantly mourns the good old days, but honestly, I can't remember the last time I attended a decent lecture at IEEE... even if there were any. There is zero promotion outside of the internet; you almost never see even basic A4 flyers posted around. Consequently, nobody shows up, even when the content is actually high quality. As for the IEEE cafe, it's mostly junk. The last decent show I caught there was Baroness and some stoner band from Florida, but that was four months ago.
mostly, the atmosphere there has gone completely downhill. At least the movies are free on Sundays; respect for that.

if you think "revitalizing" IEEE with a new crew is going to work, you have to overhaul the entire promotional strategy. Right now, IEEE isn't exactly a place people feel a sense of urgency to visit.

Look, regarding those listening rooms—you're spot on. The folks running them got hit with the exact same feedback you just laid out. I’d bet anything there’s a massive crowd of people who would’ve shown up to these events if they even knew they were happening.

Starbucks is for everyone; it doesn't have to be your personal cup of tea. But even there, people have been complaining way too much and acting totally unreasonable.

As for the concerts—we're working at it, bit by bit. Hopefully, things will start looking up soon.

At the end of the day, the vibe comes from the crowd, not the organizers. :-D
