I suppose there might be some sort of brilliant concept emerging for a band here. 🙏 I suppose one might consider keeping a close eye on the concept for the "Golden Rooster."
If you'll have me, I suppose I'm in. 🙂

I suppose this thread is mostly for those who have an affinity for kopito; perhaps we should just let them be, even if they seem to be living under a bit of a delusion. 😈

I’d much rather be wrong about something than spend my entire life obsessing over whether a band is "mainstream" or some niche "indie" act. It just isn't worth the energy.😬
Cheers! 🙂

Sure, but there's one catch: you can't be from some tiny island out in the middle of nowhere (unless it's a small coastal town near Savannah 😈 or somewhere deep in rural Nebraska 😳).

Yeah, I worry, and meanwhile, life is just passing me by.😁

What does it actually matter if kopito plays bad, mindless music under some indie or mainstream label?😉

Later.🙂

To the people acting like kopito listens to nothing but mind-numbing, boring garbage—honestly, why are you even hanging out in this thread? Just curious...

Spot on, Jerry Patel6, haha.

I just wanted to point out that I find it honestly pathetic when people insist everything they listen to has to be "intellectual," filled with perfectly curated lyrics and complex melodies. If we judged kopito by having ultra-deep, philosophical lyrics, all the charm 😬 of their music would vanish, since it was clearly designed to be one big, fun joke.
As for this whole indie vs. mainstream nonsense—I’m just observing that a lot of people on this forum seem to live by the rule of "the less famous the band, the better." They act like they're superior just because they can spend their time trashing anyone who hasn't heard of some obscure underground act. It makes it seem like kopito is already too commercialized and therefore "bad" or shallow... but hey, to each their own.
I still don't get why you have to hunt for deep meaning in absolutely everything.

I don't really get why someone would bother asking "what do you think of kopito" just to turn around and act like a condescending jerk when people say they aren't fans 🙄

Honestly... I don't even care anymore. Let them talk if they want to.

A band that everyone loves to hate—but they keep touring anyway.🙂

I suppose some people just weigh music more heavily in their lives than others. For me, it’s all about the grunge bands, whereas for you, it might be kopito—and that’s perfectly fine. I gave up long ago trying to convince anyone what counts as "good" or "bad"; at the end of the day, it's a matter of personal taste. But perhaps you shouldn't try to prove to hollowseal33 or anyone else (specifically those who spend their last few dollars and endless free time on live shows) that kopito is actually worth it, because you likely won't find any decent arguments to support it, even if you searched your entire soul. As I mentioned, music matters more to some than to others. I don't really see the point in arguing with someone who, for example, is an expert on graphic novels when I've mostly just read Garfield and Snoopy.

Look, if we’re playing by the "to each their own" rule, then kopito is an awesome band within their specific niche—island rock, whatever. But if you’re trying to stack them up against Mozart? Then yeah, they’re trash. If you’re comparing them to Matt Bulić? They’re absolute gods.

So, did this whole debate actually go anywhere, or was it just a waste of time?

Let’s be honest here—when it comes to island rock, it’s really just Gego, Šo, and Mazgoon who actually brought anything to the table. In my opinion, kopito is easily the weakest band in that scene.

I find it hard to believe we actually agree on anything here, 🙂
though I suppose it's possible. After all, just because three bands play some sort of niche music doesn't mean Max Jurcic or whoever coined the term "island rock" should get to define it. Using a made-up label to describe a genre and then trying to be serious about it is, well, it's almost funny. 😁It’s just lighthearted music, really. It isn't meant to have deep value; its primary purpose is simply to entertain people. There isn't much artistry there, nor any real pursuit of quality.
And honestly, reading a post that lumps Mozart, Matt Bulić, and kopito together is quite fascinating, in its own way. 😬

Besides, in my previous post, I was actually addressing Lisa Flores74. Nicholas Perez33 had shared an illustrative snippet regarding what a young lady thinks of those of us who listen to this "strange" kind of music.

de ž., take a breath. if someone feels like describing those few bands as island rock, what's really the issue? 🙂

and please, try to avoid using phrasing like 🙂:

there isn't some grand artistic vision or pursuit of excellence happening here.

look, I'm not exactly a fan of kopito myself, but honestly, it just isn't that deep... 🙂

It’s not really my place, and I probably wouldn't have even chimed in if the conversation hadn't taken such an unpleasant turn. I suppose I don't particularly care what anyone else listens to, provided they aren't attacking things they clearly know nothing about.

Honestly, there’s zero artistic merit or even a hint of striving for quality in "teenage lobotomy"... 😬

I know, but I was feeling pretty bored yesterday evening, and that post about Mozart was just funny enough that my fingers started itching to type. It isn't as if I didn't try to resist the urge. 😬 😳

Honestly, kopito is solid—better than Gego and way better than whatever Jean Jakopač is pulling now with his whole Jean and Mazguni act. Mazgoon used to be killer before they lost their edge. Gego is just some commercial project Max Jurcic cooked up after realizing he could turn some local joke into a full-blown show. Not to mention all those random garage bands trying to rip off this sound—trust me, my inbox is flooded with demo CDs.
So yeah, kopito nails their genre. And if you consider kopito "pop" music? Then it’s even easier to say they outclass Zečić, Matt Bulić, Severina, Minea, and Jelena Rozga...

Kevin Chavez3 said:but even "teenage lobotomy" doesn't possess any real artistry or an actual pursuit of quality. 😬

Finally, someone actually understood my point when I compared those two. 😁

And for Nicole Baker: look, it’s perfectly normal for there to be truly great bands—what I called the "top tier." Anyone who genuinely loves music isn't just going to stick to whatever is being served up on a silver platter to the masses. I respect that. I really do. And honestly, hats off to you all for being such die-hard fans that you follow everything across every single genre and subgenre imaginable. My issue was simply with the attitude: the "I know better than you because I take trivia quizzes" or "I'll drop my last dime on any concert" vibe.
It's obvious that what you guys are looking for in music is quality, artistry, and so on. That's true. That's exactly what I look for and value in the music I listen to, too. But kopito has nothing to do with that. That's why I think everyone overreacted. You have to judge kopito within the context of its own genre—just like someone else mentioned here. There. Simple. I'm not going to argue about this anymore. Peace out. 😉
