Dead carrot. Just dead. said:Haha, once he finally realized he’d completely blown it. 🙄

Believe whatever helps you sleep at night. Honestly, go for it.
Just some transcript from some news broadcast over in the North America. Or whatever.

Hey Adam Moore, wouldn't it be just great if they could slide right into that empty spot? I bet they’ve all got some tragic little sob story about a rough childhood and everything, too. Then all those teenagers could finally "identify" with them and really get the whole "message," right?

Since you both studied linguistics, you actually have some actual insight here... 🙄

That's a fair point you made there. :emo:

I just can't quite wrap my head around it—how someone who comes up with something like "Damn it duck, life is short" and then decides to actually record it and present it to the masses can be considered "talented." And honestly? He can't even sing. Not in that Berman or Dylan sort of way—just, well, he simply can't. It's a shame, really... that's just how it is. 🙂

I honestly can't wrap my head around how someone who comes up with something like "Man, life is short, just go for it" decides to record it and push it on everyone—you've gotta admit there's a certain talent there. Plus, the guy can't even sing. And I don't mean he's not on that Berman or Dylan level; I mean he genuinely lacks the skill. It's just sad, really. 🙂

Yeah, that first album was trash too. But those last two? Absolute gems. The songwriting is at its peak, some beautiful lyrics that actually hit you right in the feels during "2x2" and "Narcotic"... man. But yeah, if he can't sing, he can't sing.

Adam Moore said:Just wondering—how much does it actually matter to you if a musician happens to be a jerk?

It's only true for black metalheads. But then again—I guess you can't really call yourself a black metalhead if you aren't black. You just shouldn't listen to Cradle of Filth, for one. It doesn't sit right with me.

So, say someone pops up whose music totally blows you away—but they’re openly pushing Nazi ideology, violence against women, or whatever else—would you actually keep listening? And I guess, how did you guys handle that kind of thing back when you were teenagers?

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing back when I was a teenager—I mean, I'm not exactly planning on hanging out with him, so why would it even matter?

Regarding Chomsky and linguistics—honestly, I find his theory pretty repulsive and overblown. I’m no linguist or anything, though my folks dabble in that kind of stuff every now and then. 😬

It doesn't even matter if his theory is spot on or not; what matters is that her questioning actually pushes things forward...
When it comes to politics, Chomsky is just riding the postmodern wave without bringing anything fresh to the table.

Irrelevant.
It doesn't matter to me if you've never listened to the Ramones.

Personally, I actually prefer knowing absolutely nothing about an author. Once you know their deal, it starts messing with my perception of the work—whether I want it to or not. It’s impossible to ignore. And it works both ways—I find myself liking things more if I start liking the writer, or hating them if they're a jerk. It’s just pointless.
Plus, unless we're talking extreme cases, you never truly know the full truth about anyone. It’s easy to just toss out a line like "Hemingway was a misogynist," but how would I actually know? For all I know, I'm just as bad.
And yeah, hypothetically speaking, I’d still want to read a poem or a book even if the author turned out to be some kind of cannibalistic pedophile. Hopefully 🤔

I'm gonna listen, and I honestly don't give a damn. That’s how I felt before, too. But honestly? Having shitty bands on my playlist is just an extra bonus for me. :cheezy:

I mean, I bet you’d actually pull a crowd! Right now, you're basically those cult classic movies that sat on the back shelf for years—you've grown up, but since that old niche market disappeared, there's a huge gap in the scene that you could easily step in to fill.
😁

Well, to actually make money, you'd have to learn how to play properly, and since we'll never master that, I guess we'll just cling to our indie cred until the very end. Even if filling those gaps in the industry does sound pretty tempting!😬

Translated? As if they’d ever bother to pack a single thing! 😠

Staying on topic here, I actually think Tomorrow Belongs to Us is a pretty decent track. 😳

From Skrewdriver? Personally, I've always preferred "The Snow Fell"...

And yeah, looking back, I was basically an idiot when I was a teen—pretty much held the exact opposite views then. I remember going to see this concert, some edgy Satanic metal act, just because he was cool. Honestly? That whole performance still haunts me. The music wasn't even good; I just thought he was cool. And he was from a tiny town in the Midwest too 😬

I find myself wondering... how on earth can anyone actually listen to Skrewdriver? 🙂
