When it comes to overrated music,
The Ramones—pretty much anything they put out, 🙂
The Rolling Stones—about 90% of their catalog
Miles Davis - On the Corner (this one is tricky because people either worship the ground this album walks on or absolutely despise it; I’d say I land somewhere in the middle. It’s fundamentally interesting, sure, but it's definitely overhyped)...
Maybe even Kind of Blue. Look, it’s a truly fantastic, timeless masterpiece, but I still think it gets too much credit, even if it feels almost sacrilegious to say that given it dropped back in 1959...
The Supremes, Jackson 5, and all that Motown commercial pop from that era (yeah, including Marvin Gaye before his 1971 peak and the untouchable What's Going On)—it’s fine for background listening, but it doesn't hold much actual substance...
Outkast - Speakerboxxx / The Love below—I honestly cannot wrap my head around the glowing reviews for this bland, mediocre mess. The only standout track worth a damn is "The Way You Move."
About 90% of Rap and Hip-hop albums, regardless of when they were released, that constantly get shoved onto "Greatest of All Time" lists. Most of them just have one or two solid hits surrounded by a pile of garbage. There are very few albums where the entire project is actually good...
