I had a blast. To be honest, I don't follow this band that closely, but there was this incredible connection between them and the crowd that just made my day. The sound quality was decent enough, even if it hit a few rough patches here and there, but when you're with good company, you can overlook the little things. They actually reminded me quite a bit of The Storks, though they definitely feel way more authentic than those flashy acts out of New York. I especially loved one track toward the end of the set—found out later it was a cover of an American Music Club song called "Ex-Girlfriend." Really hoping the guys tour back our way soon.

It was actually a blast. Being right up front, the volume wasn't even that crazy—or maybe I just have good ears, who knows? No ringing in my ears at all, and I didn't have any issues hearing Deacon for the next three days either. The band sounded awesome; they played all the hits from the first album, though they skipped some of my absolute favorites from the second. Still, "California Dreamin'" was killer, and the newer stuff was alright. Honestly, the crowd was a mess, though. Some people spent the whole set with their fingers in their ears like they were at a Chopin recital instead of seeing The Rolling Stones. People, please, buy some earplugs—they aren't even expensive.

It was killer. I already thought they were a top-tier band, but seeing them live just leveled them up in my book. 🙂

Way too loud. Couldn't really tell the guitars apart from the vocals, but the energy was raw, gritty, and honestly pretty killer 👍 👍

The flaws? Probably just nerves from playing for the best crowd on the planet 😁

Or maybe just the terrible acoustics of the venue (that underground club), which is what he mentioned on his blog and in Why? a few months back ☕

Did you catch the blog post by The Rolling Stones? Man, seriously... what do they have to say about the acoustics in the arena (that micro-level sound stuff)?!

Room was way too live, sounded like being stuck in a damn cave. Had to crank the mix a bit louder than I wanted just to hear anything clearly.

Great show overall. The sound quality, however, was absolutely abysmal...

Man, where did everyone go... the sound right by the mixer was killer... maybe Spencer just cranked his Ampeg amps way too high and totally drowned out the rest of the band in those first few rows 🤷

They seemed stoked after the show, though. Anyway, Lollapalooza is taking a year off this October, so it’ll be all about The National and The Shins next 😁

It was a little too loud for my taste
but honestly, other than that, the sound was actually pretty solid
and that venue is easily the best 👍(well, after the local arena, obviously)
it was a really great Concert 🙂
even with that guy Jarney trying his absolute hardest to ruin the vibe for me 😬
I love Spencer ♥ though it felt like he could barely wait to get off the stage—he kept dimming the lights again! 😁
Anyway, thank God* they finally showed up after 2x, The Shins, and The National. 👍 Not that I’d ever complain if those bands decided to tour here more often! 😁

Sand and their crowd seem like they'd be the closest match to that band you're describing, if you ask me 🤷

The sound against the wall was actually quite decent. It might not have been the absolute pinnacle of audio engineering—or even the best I've heard in a venue of that size—but it was perfectly fine. The Concert? Really good. I have to admit, I'm a little taken aback by all the enthusiasm, though I suppose there’s no harm in letting people enjoy themselves at a show.

Anyway, Lex and Dan are heading our way this October, but they aren't playing any shows—just coming to visit. Dan’s totally obsessed with this part of the world, so they’re planning to spend a month road-tripping through the Midwest and down toward Texas...

I've had "Expo 86" on repeat all month... that album is a masterpiece, and Dan's "Yulia" is definitely the song of the year. 🙏

I haven't even listened to the new album yet, and here I am already losing my mind on 😢
But man, that Concert was absolutely insane. When they finally ripped into Californian Dreamer right before the encore... ugh, I'm still reeling. 😍😍
