They’re messing around—definitely.
They're enjoying themselves—most likely.
It’s a circus—true enough.
But is it actually good music?
Sorry. For me, it was just exhausting. I don't mind long songs, but this felt like constant noise that the drummer was desperately trying to salvage... though... it would be better if he were just playing while everyone else focused on being funny.
The guy doing the "vocals" and guitar is just awful. It’s painful to listen to.

So, is it good because it’s alternative, or is it actually good?
Do you guys even listen to this at home?

I can't believe that in 2005 I'd still have to argue that this counts as music just because it doesn't sound like everything else 😁... and it's great music, too. Of course I listen to them at home, in the car, everywhere. Honestly, I was the first one jumping for joy when Matt first mentioned they were coming to town...

I listen to it—and I like it. It's got an atmosphere. But live? That's way more intense. Honestly, I think I'd enjoy it even if the album itself was total garbage.

Aha. Well, if you haven't yet, you should definitely check out the album Leaf by Public Image Ltd.
It's such a classic piece of tribal post-punk, and I'm pretty sure it served as the main inspiration for their follow-up album.😍

Obviously, I listen to them everywhere—at home, walking down the street, whatever. I was the first one jumping around with pure excitement when Mate first mentioned he was coming to town...

Facts. I never actually listened to them, not even a single album, except for that one time on cassette, which was my first (and honestly, last) time hearing them.

Maybe they sound different... on CD.

But like this...
🙄

Music... hmm... yeah, I guess you could call it music... hard to draw a line between what counts as music and what doesn't.
But at this rate, any horse could probably step in and take over those vocals/guitar parts.

Not saying it's bad or that I'm the only one who thinks it's good.

I'd just really appreciate it if you guys could explain what exactly makes this good to you.

If you can... maybe give me something a bit more detailed than "I jump around to it on the sidewalk."

Thanks.
I'd get it.
😁

it’s this post-punk tribal classic that I'm pretty sure inspired their second record 😍

my "crew" 😁 yeah right... fat chance!
some drummer's gonna blast it for his girlfriend, who's gonna play it for my sister because they’re both at the same college, same year, whatever...

and there you have it.

It's tough. That guy is just straight-up unhinged—I guess. 😵

I’d honestly just be happy if someone could explain what exactly makes this so good.

Honestly, those kinds of questions aren't really worth much—I guess. You'd probably have a better time just sticking to their first album; might actually be more your style.

wiredfalcon2 said:My "crew" 😁 definitely doesn't work like that!
He’d probably just blow up the drummer who tries to hand that over to his girlfriend, who then hands it to my sister since they’re in the same major and year at the university...

I mean, if my drummer didn't have that, he wouldn't be my drummer in the first place. 😈 😈 😈
And honestly, what's the upside? You get those tribal rhythms, incredible soundscapes, killer live dub, some wicked vocals (haha), and that dark atmosphere... though I guess even I don't experience them quite the same way I did with the first Weezer album. 🙂

then your drummer goes and burns his girlfriend's house down... you know how it goes 😁
hm...
hm...
hm..

still don't get it.
just me being an idiot, I guess.
I mean, I love that Kid A track, really. Even if it isn't exactly... easy to sing along to 😁
but yeah, this one just flew right over my head.
maybe one day... I'll get it.

just me being dense, I guess.

I’m not great at embedding links, but here goes nothing.

It’s... addictive. Skip the philosophy and just listen to the albums three times. If you don't feel like your joints could bend in every direction from the sheer intensity of it, then you'll never get it.

Well, I guess you could dance to the second one too—maybe some dancing around a campfire with a broomstick? 🙂

Worst one: East Rodeo.

/Does anyone know who messed up my Death Disco track? 😲

The best one we missed out on.

worst ever—album Leaf

I honestly don't get how someone who isn't even slightly hard of hearing can claim that album Leaf was bad. 😕 🙄

I mean, sure, maybe you aren't a fan of the electronic layers they use, or maybe that whole vibe just isn't your thing, but calling them the worst concert of the year? That's a bit much, if you ask me.

I suppose someone might not care for the electronic elements in their sound, or perhaps they just don't enjoy that genre, but saying they were the worst concert of the year... that seems a bit much.

Yeah, "a bit much" is putting it lightly.🙄 It's almost as if asking about the "worst concert of the year" is some sort of scientific study where everyone is required to agree with your heavenly musical taste. To me, album Leaf was the worst show of the year, largely because I find the band itself to be quite mediocre. They have songs that are simply dull and poorly executed.

So, according to you, I'm allowed to say "I don't like this style," but I'm somehow forbidden from stating that it was the worst concert I attended all year. That's pretty funny, I guess. Cheers.👋

Are you actually kidding me right now...? Seriously...?😲
They were supposed to play in Chicago, but then the drummer gets sick—because drummers always find some way to screw everything up...😁... honestly, I think album Leaf is actually pretty damn good... :/

😢You dodged a bullet there. I could have easily just called you an idiot or something similar.😁

Back to the topic—yeah, the Notwist concert (day one) keeps getting better in my memory.😍 Sometimes the tunes still play in my head.🙂
