Secondly, if you look at the actual NFL rulebook, a play doesn't end just because a player's knee touches the turf; it only ends when an opposing player forces him down. Look, if they aren't allowed to absolutely pummel you like a heavy-weight boxer once you've hit the ground with the ball, then I'm calling that a dead ball, regardless of whether the clock is still running or not...

And honestly, I feel like by any reasonable definition, the play is over—or whatever term you want to use—because I've seen players who are clearly cornered or stuck in a bad spot just drop to one knee, and everything just stops right there...

"a player stuck in a dead end... literally drops to one knee and everything just halts" => that's usually the QB doing it to dodge an injury. He's too vital to lose, especially with his arm.

Yeah, you're right on one point,
BUT from that moment on, everyone is calculating yards to the next first down, whether it's second, third, or fourth down, how close they are to the end zone, how much time is left on the clock, and what the score is. That's when the next play gets mapped out and players get back to their huddle.
So there's basically zero time for a "break" or a breather. Maybe 4 or 5 seconds if you're leading, but if you're losing, you don't even get that.

The same goes for the defense.

From a player's perspective, there is no break; you're mentally or physically locked in the entire time.

As a spectator—assuming you actually know the basic rules—you get the same feeling.

You only feel like the game has stopped at halftime or during a timeout.

Maybe this is actually happening...

There’s a legitimate chance we might finally get some serious American football going here in the States!

Word on the street is that a ton of people are itching to give it a shot—so much so that we’re probably going to set up a massive meetup for everyone interested.

I can't spill too many details just yet, though... stay tuned.

There might even be an immediate path to playing in the EuroLeague—you know, that international circuit involving teams from Italy, Canada, and Austria—since there's a club over in Trieste that's practically begging to take on players from around here.

Hey everyone!

So, here's my story. I'm 18 years old and currently living in Nuremberg. I've been playing gridiron football for about a year now. I started out with a local youth football team, but now I've moved up to play for the Nuremberg Buffalos in the Major League here in Bavaria.

Honestly, this sport is incredible. It takes an insane amount of training, serious discipline... and then some.

If there's ever a meetup happening in the States, I'd love to make the trip—though I'd probably just swing by during Easter or over the summer. I’d really love to help grow the game back home in America, too.

He’s Italian, goes by Carlo Mariani.
Not sure if you guys crossed paths, but he was playing in Germany about two or three years ago.

I played during the '04 season for the Youth football team. So, it hasn't been long enough for me to know everyone. If he was playing on the varsity squad, I probably wouldn't have known him—we didn't really hang out much back then.

lol, my perspective has shifted over time, I'd probably take the head coach job right now if it were an option 🤣 the current trend is all about hiring young coaches, anyone interested? 🤣
