Can I just shut this topic down so we only have one dedicated NFL thread? It doesn't make any sense to merge them because it’ll just totally wreck the main thread.

Besides, everyone over on that other thread is more interested in talking about playing flag football than actually discussing the NFL anyway...🙄

Whatever, it’s better having one single thread than two separate ones.

People actually went out of their way to ask me to start this thread, claiming it’s some kind of massive historical milestone. 👋

Well, I suppose I should make my mark on history too. 🙂

Much appreciated.
Yeah, this was the first real call to action. NFLLook, she just went public with it, and bit by bit, things started falling into place. Oklahoma City Thunder...

That other thread is about the Z1 and the NFL. Hopefully, the rest of the football fans around here start showing up again. 😎

Anyone else in the San Francisco area interested?
Anyone from the West Coast, hit me up here or over on the Oklahoma City Thunder forum.
There’s interest, and a few people have already stepped up, but we need to hit a critical mass before this actually gets off the ground. Beyond just players, I need a couple of people willing to help with the actual organization side of things. If you actually believe in what you’re doing and bring even a little bit of enthusiasm, nobody can stop us. Hit me up via DM or use the email listed on the pages above. Subject: e-mail

Heads up—the Oklahoma City Thunder have games coming up soon. You can catch all the NFL action live right here in New York City. 😎

Ha, by the time you force that "trend" on the rest of the world, you'll be old and gray.

Some things just take time.🙂

I’ve been looking into the NFL lately. A few questions. How many active teams are there in the US right now? Are there any organized tournaments? And what’s the age limit for joining a club and playing in those tournaments? If anyone has the answers, I'd appreciate it... thanks in advance.

From what I can gather about the New York City scene, it’s no surprise we’ve suddenly got yet another club popping up, the Washington Capitals. It seems like neither the Oklahoma City Thunder nor the Washington Capitals can manage to pull themselves together—not in terms of talent, let alone organization... but hey, that's just how things go for us Americans. We've basically got two people trying to run three different clubs.
The Washington Capitals are only playing flag football because they clearly lack the resources for the real deal... feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You're incredibly perceptive.

The Washington Capitals have actually been an established club since July 1, 2007.
Since then, we've competed in six international tournaments. I'd highlight our runner-up finish at the tournament in Vienna and an impressive 7th place at the second-largest tournament in Europe held in Walldorf, where we went head-to-head against four national teams (Israel, Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark—all ranked in the top 20 globally) along with about 20 clubs from across the continent.
Alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Green Bay Packers, and the Seattle Seahawks, the Washington Capitals were founding members of the first American flag football league, which took place this year. After four tournaments and 24 games played across three cities, the Green Bay Packers took first place, followed by the Washington Capitals in second, the Oklahoma City Thunder in third, and the Seattle Seahawks in fourth.
Currently, the Thunder is the only tackle football club in the country participating in organized competition, though the Las Vegas Raiders, Miami Pitbulls, and New Orleans Saints are all showing serious ambition to grow tackle football here in the States.

But sure, it's much easier to just talk trash on a forum than it is to actually look up the facts.

And what exactly was my "inaccurate" data point? Look, I’ll give you credit for your results, but let’s look at the facts: someone established the Oklahoma City Thunder, then barely two years later, someone else founded the Washington Capitals, and before we knew it, there were the Las Vegas Raiders.

The reality is this sport is still in its infancy here. It’s been active in New York City for maybe three or four years and we already have three different clubs. You can call that "spitting on the game" if you want, but to me, it’s just a classic reflection of our American mentality—where you end up with the Republican Party, the Libertarian Party, and several different splinter factions all fighting for air.

So, here is my question for you: wouldn't it be better if you all sports fanatics just united into one decent, single club? One organization with one high-quality roster for the NFL and another solid squad for the local flag league?

The Washington Capitals started out strictly as a flag football club, and they have zero intention of ever starting a tackle division. It’s like asking why small-sided soccer clubs exist when everyone can just play full-field soccer. They’re two different sports with totally different rules. Plus, flag football is perfect for recreational players who want to avoid those heavy injuries you see way more often in tackle football. Flag is non-contact, after all.
But honestly, it's so easy to just hop on a forum and talk trash without actually knowing the facts. That pretty much sums up the mentality here—everyone thinks they're an expert on everything. 🙄

You’ve gotta be kidding me. You can clearly see we're dealing with someone of limitless intellectual capacity here. Personally, I don't know anyone who could possibly link flag football with the Libertarian Party in a single breath!

Look, soccer is played everywhere on the planet, whereas American football barely even existed here until four years ago.
I honestly think things would work a lot smoother if you self-proclaimed sports fanatics—and let's be real, there aren't many of you—actually decided to get on the same page. But fine. Clearly, you know everything. Apparently, if you aren't some high-level expert, you don't have the right to offer an opinion or comment at all. You've got your little plan, and I'm sure it'll show in the results.

The stats don't lie, man. It showed exactly what it was gonna show. We're talking about two totally different sports here, you know? Your take isn't based on any actual data or solid arguments, so honestly, it doesn't really carry much weight.

Let’s just cut to the chase here and save us all the headache of a pointless debate.

To those of you actually involved in this: be honest. If you can look me in the eye and swear that the fact three separate clubs were established within four years has absolutely nothing to do with petty personal vendettas or certain individuals just needing to play boss—and that there is some perfect, seamless harmony between these three groups—then fine. I'll happily admit I was an idiot for even bringing this topic up in the first place.

Is that fair enough?

P.S. Mountaineering and rock climbing are two entirely different disciplines, so we basically operate like two distinct branches under one organization; it honestly makes things much easier for us.

P.S. Rock climbing and hiking are two completely different beasts, which is why we operate like two separate divisions within one organization. It's just easier that way.

Why don't you go troll someone else on a different thread? It's pretty obvious you have no clue what you're talking about regarding people "playing boss."🤦

Well, in American football, you need multiple teams to actually play against one another and eventually build a league, don't you think?😉

You've got it all wrong. The Raiders actually formed because of some personal beef between members of the Thunder, but you should probably ask them for the specifics since I don't know every single detail. As for the Capitol, they've been their own separate club from the start and have an incredibly friendly relationship with the Thunder. Back in the day, the Capitol was just a group of people who wanted to play flag exclusively, and we all met up on a forum. Even the Thunder juniors—basically kids between 13 and 17—used to run drills with us at the local park. We weren't even a formal club yet; it was more like a bunch of friends meeting up after school to play pick-up games. The idea to turn into a serious club didn't hit until a year later when a core group dedicated solely to flag football really solidified, and that's when we officially organized. We existed mostly on paper until things started getting serious regarding the league and the flag football association. By then, the Thunder kids had stopped playing pick-up with us because most moved over to tackle, but now that the league is established, they've rounded up a new group of kids to start a flag squad again.

About 30 people have gone through the Capitol. We train out on a field near the local high school, dodging dog poop and everything, but we still crush it at tournaments—we took 5th out of 12 in Chicago, 13th out of 20 in Dallas, 2nd out of 12 in Miami, and lately, 7th out of 20 in Houston, plus 3rd out of 5 in New Orleans and 2nd in the national championships. Sure, we're an amateur club without big sponsors or deep pockets, and we just helped launch the association and the league, but we aren't going to let anyone trash us—especially not through a totally unprofessional medium like this forum. Especially when the person talking has absolutely no clue what they're saying or how things actually work. BTW, both the Thunder and the Capitol are members of the football association and always look out for each other. In the beginning, the Thunder used to lend us gear; I even played for their squad in New Orleans when they showed up with only four players. At tournaments, there’s always a great, friendly vibe between all the clubs. Plus, the Thunder and I work together to help grow the popularity of American football, even though we technically play two different versions of the game.

BTW, I’d recommend not jumping to conclusions or talking about stuff you clearly don't understand. Now Goran is gonna chew me out for even bothering to reply to such condescending posts.
