Greetings. I will refrain from starting a new thread over such a minor inquiry; instead, I shall address my dilemma right here.
My objective is to overclock both the core and the memory on my GPU.
I am currently running a Radeon HD 9550 equipped with an exceptionally robust cooling solution—essentially a custom copper setup. With this homemade heatsink, my temperatures hover between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius, whereas the stock settings sit at 250/200.
My question is twofold: what would be a reasonable target for these increments, and is it truly best practice to proceed cautiously by increasing the clock speeds in increments of five?
Thank you.

Grab the ATI TRAY tools. You can just set it to pick the GPU or memory with the highest specs, then let it run its own tests once you bump up the MHz. On my rig, it stayed rock solid up to about 320/225...
By the way, what are you using to monitor your temp graphs?

I have ATI tools installed on my home rig... but I’m wondering if letting the software autonomously scan for GPU and memory usage might cause things to overheat or something similar? My concern stems from the fact that I don't see an option to set a specific maximum temperature threshold here.
Regarding how I track heat, I currently rely on a digital thermometer, which looks something like this:

It's not ATI tools, it's ATI TRAY tools.... Those temps are actually pretty low, maybe up to 140°F, but you aren't going to see much of a jump unless you start cranking the voltage.... Post some pictures of how you set up that cooling rig.....

Understood. I will be back in a few days... I am currently away from my home residence and staying at the university dorms, so I don't have access to my computer right now. Hehe
Regarding that Aty TRAY tool, where might one go to download it? And more importantly, is it available for free?

Why on earth would you even sign off on that???
The guy is running a 6600, while you're sitting there with a 9550. His GPU is easily twice as powerful as yours, yet you're both stuck with the exact same amount of VRAM... and you actually have the nerve to claim his setup is worse? That's a pretty questionable take, but maybe you just don't realize that a 6600 absolutely crushes a 9550. 🤣
If you ask me, he's got the much better rig.

Maybe one day you'll catch up....🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

The guy’s running a 6600 and you’re sitting there with a 9550. His GPU is at least twice as good as yours, yet you both have the same amount of RAM... and you're calling his setup worse? Interesting take. Maybe you don't realize that a 6600 actually outperforms a 9550. 🤣
If you ask me, his rig is better than yours.

Maybe you'll catch on eventually....🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Bragging about a Pentium 4... seriously?👎
Did I ever say he had a worse computer than mine or a worse GPU?
At least I don't brag about my PC. I've never felt the need to. He’s out here flexing this piece of junk—so what does that make the people with rigs three times more powerful than his?
He thinks he's "overclocking" a GPU? Give me a break. You click three buttons and the software finds the max core and memory for you. All you do is hit save. That's it.
And one last thing, "buddy"—you're the pathetic one for bragging about a machine like that. 👎 🙂 🙂

MY RIG IS THE BEST!!! 😁😁😁
MY DAD IS THE MAN!!!!
Now, don't go attacking me right away, northerncrane33...
Hehe........🙂
_______________
Maybe he just wanted to show that his PC can actually be overclocked—it doesn't really matter how much or by how much! It’s the intent that counts!!
I mean, I once overclocked my own processor just to prove to everyone here that I could push it past 4 GHz....😁

I once overclocked my CPU just to prove to you guys it could hit over 4 GHz...😁

If he’d just said he clocked his CPU (which might even be stock) or his GPU, instead of claiming his rig is king and we're all losers, it would be different.👎

I've had this GPU for a few years now, using it occasionally for gaming.

I messed around with some overclocking settings, which you can see in the attachment.
The core hit over 380 MHz and the memory reached 315, but I guess this current setup is the most stable. It passed the stress tests, and I've had Stalker running for two days straight without any issues.

Has anyone managed to get better results out of this card? I'd appreciate your thoughts.

The GPU actually hit over 380 MHz and the RAM reached 315, but honestly, what I have here is the sweet spot for stability. It passed all the tests, and I've had Stalker running for two days straight without a single hiccup.

Has anyone managed to push this card any further? I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Have you tried using those softmode drivers I posted? If not, seriously, give them a shot. It should be a pretty significant upgrade.

Steve, this is an overclocking thread. It doesn't matter how much you pushed it; what matters is that you actually moved the needle. An overclock is an overclock, even if you just bump the CPU from 2GHz to 2.01 GHz!!!

If you didn't catch it, when he was "bragging" about his rig at the end, he threw in a HAHAHA and a few emojis... you might want to pay a little closer attention to what's being said.

So, today I’m overclocking my cousin's AMD Sempron 2400 + which is currently running at 1.6GHz on some random ECS motherboard and some generic RAM... Without even touching the voltage, I managed to hit 2000MHz... You can't adjust the voltage or the multiplier on this board, either...
