Your motherboard doesn't support voltage adjustments. Besides, I don't know any software that lets you crank the voltage from within Windows...

Does anyone actually know where I can track down these programs? Specifically looking for AquaMark and FutureMark 3DMark.

You’re gonna try overclocking😲 😱

Can't even Google a program name to download it yourself.
Don't know how to bump up the voltage, and you're out here looking for some program to do it for you?!

🙄

Stop messing with stuff you don't understand before you end up frying something.😉

Stay away from things you clearly don't understand before you end up doing something incredibly stupid.😉

Whoa, slow down there with the attitude... maybe learn how to type properly before you try lecturing me.

And I'm dying to hear your brilliant suggestion on how I should adjust my voltage—there's nothing in the BIOS. > told me my motherboard doesn't support it, and nobody seems to know which software actually works. Pretty smart of you, aren't you?

And I’m just dying to know—how exactly would you suggest I change the voltage? It's not even an option in my BIOS... northerncrane33 already told me my motherboard doesn't support it... and does anyone actually know a software for it?????? MR. SMART GUY.

I posted a link above. Just download the benchmarks. There are plenty of other utilities used for overclocking, so maybe you'll find something that actually works for you.

Hey everyone, I could really use some advice here.

Here is my current setup:

Processor... Intel Core 2 Duo E4400
Motherboard... Asus P5N-e
Memory... Transcend JM667qlj-1g, two 1GB sticks at 557 MHz
Graphics... ATI x1300xt
Hard Drive... two Western Digital Caviar 160 GB drives in RAID0
Power Supply... Antec Basiq 500W
Cooling... stock cooler on the processor, plus two case fans

So... I've been reading online that people are pushing these processors past 3 GHz, but for some reason, mine just won't run stably above 2.55 GHz (with the Front Side Bus at 1020). Once I go beyond that, my Everet stability test hangs after only a few minutes—and if I try to push the Front Side Bus to 1100, it refuses to even boot. Interestingly, if I push it to 1200, it boots up, but Windows won't fully load—it just hits a black screen and stays completely frozen. My temperatures are sitting around 41°C, so I don't think heat is the issue here. I even tried bumping the core voltage up to 1.50V, but it didn't help at all. As for the memory, I've tried keeping it at 667 or dropping it down to 400, but nothing seems to change the outcome.

Is there some trick I'm missing, or is there a hardware bottleneck somewhere? Or did I just end up with a dud processor that's being stubborn?

You really think the FSB can hit 1020???
Stability tests: run Prime95 or Orthos....
Check the temps using Core temp at 0.94 or SpeedFan

The FSB is at 1020—and by that, I mean the actual FSB clock speed (255 base clock × 4).

I've been checking stability using the Everest test, though I just realized that most people usually lean on different tools for this kind of thing... Regardless, it's pretty obvious the system wasn't holding up, since Windows kept crashing on me every thirty minutes to an hour or so.

Look, he can only really mess things up if he cranks up the voltage... honestly, he could probably overclock for a hundred years without touching the voltage and he definitely won't "fry" anything that way!

So, what kind of rig is that in your signature anyway?😲 😲 😲
The first part of your signature is👍 🙏 ,though you'll probably just end up deleting this signature too.

Here’s my current rig: AMD Athlon64 3000+ (running at 2000), integrated Nvidia 6100 256, 1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, an Asus DVD burner, and an 80GB Western Digital hard drive. 😎 It’s running fine, haven't even messed with any overclocking yet... it's pretty much fresh.

Now, about the old one: AMD Athlon XP 1800 (actually hits 1500), 512MB DDR RAM, DVD-ROM, CD burner, 40GB Maxtor, and an Nvidia 6600 GS 256. And get this—I actually tried some overclocking on it and managed to bump the processor up to 2100MHz (it was stable at 1750)... but it didn't last long. The motherboard just died on me out of nowhere. It gets power, sure, but won't boot... just keeps throwing that "CPU Fan not working properly" error. Whatever, at least I picked up a new MB.

Does anyone on this forum happen to be running the same CPU and motherboard combo? This ASROCK 4COREDUAL-VSTA is... honestly, it's garbage. I only picked it up because I wanted to keep using my old Radeon card from a previous build. The highest FSB clock goes from 297MHz to 2673MHz.
You can't even adjust the CPU voltage on this thing.

Man, you really pushed that processor through some serious overclocking, especially when you consider that motherboard is honestly kind of a joke...

If you were running a decent board like a DS3, you’d easily have that CPU hitting well over 3.2GHz...

Yeah, true, but look at the CPU overclock percentage; 48%!!!!
That chip is insane. 🙏 🙏 🙏

northerncrane33, when are you finally going to pull the trigger on a purchase? I mean, seriously, can't you put together a decent setup for about 4k these days?...

wiredmarlin5 said:northerncrane33, when are you actually buying? You think you can pull a whole rig together for $400?

I'm seriously thinking about it. Been looking at parts for three months now.🙄😳
Here's the plan:
E4400
Gigabyte P35-DS3
2GB Kingmax
Gigabyte x1950pro
Chieftec 550W.......

If you think I need to swap something out, just say so.
I'll probably pick it up at Best Buy or Micro Center.👎
