Because they never play blues... fine, maybe they played it twice in their entire career—once in Spain and once when they were touring through Chicago...

Don't mistake their attitude for posturing—they just refuse to play the game where bands hand over a rigid setlist with a pre-planned encore list tucked underneath.
Everything they need to communicate, they say during that one hour last night—though, let’s be honest, their tour sets usually clock in at about 45 minutes anyway...
And don't even get me started on The Flying Luttenbachers and those legendary 25-minute sets of theirs... 🙄 😁

Major props to them for that performance and just how long they kept the energy up...

Honestly, it would’ve been nice if we had one more band on the bill, maybe even two.
We showed up late to the show—and had to pay a speeding ticket on top of that—so we only caught about half the set, all for $15 (the guy at the window swore they wouldn't play past midnight—typical capitalist 😁).
Then Robin Booth tells me they were way better than last time, even though they were already incredible last time.
All we have left is 🙂
But whatever, we're heading to Chicago today 🙂

I don't think they're being divas. When they were in New York City last time, I actually chatted with them for maybe 15 minutes or so, and honestly, they were so sweet. It’s not like I was expecting 150 encores or anything, but last time in NYC they actually did an encore and didn't bolt out the door like someone was chasing them just to sit in the van out front. I didn't even really aim to talk to them again, but I'm sure there were plenty of people who wanted to tell them they were awesome. Personally, I feel like 45 minutes is way too short for a show, especially for a band with this much to say. Still, I had a really lovely time...

In my book, it’s only fair to let the band decide how long they want to play. It's their show...
I’ve always preferred it when a band just sticks to the set rather than forcing an encore and overstaying their welcome until the whole vibe gets totally trashed...😎

So, we’ve settled on the plan—they’re coming up for two days next time, and we’ll spend the entire following day playing basketball. Basically, instead of just hanging out at the bar, you guys should come cheer them on... we won't hold it against you 🙂

I was seriously shocked when I got home yesterday and realized how early it actually was—but honestly, it wasn't a bad surprise at all (at least I didn't walk away from work feeling totally beaten down). The concert didn't feel short to me one bit; they sounded incredible and I definitely wasn't checking my watch. I guess it’s true what they say—it’s about quality over quantity 😉

Yesterday in Chicago, they played for a measly 55 minutes just because the US is part of the European Union!! 😁 They wouldn't even come out for an encore; after a while, the guitarist finally wanders back out and just goes, "we're finished.............. i'd like to thank everyone a hundred million times............................................. . but we're finished." 😁
It was alright, I guess, but technical perfection isn't really the point of their whole existence anyway🙂
Btw, the singer was wearing a U2 shirt—some guy in the crowd actually started yelling EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY... ( 😕 dramatic silence).... NOT FUCKING U2!!😁
Oh yeah, and I especially loved that absolute chaos at the end when everyone was basically sending their guitars to hell:2up: 😎
