"If he had his head on straight (a Christian, i.e., Roger Hughes14) and believed in something that wasn't as pathetic as what he believes, it wouldn't bother him."

What don't you get? Stop defaming yourself and just do your job properly. I don't care about your private thoughts. Just be a regular user on Reddit and write at your own risk of getting banned, instead of flexing your muscles over us and abusing your super-mod status. Pathetic.

You're far from being a regular user, even further from being a mod, let alone a super-mod. 🤮

Your faith is deeply offensive according to my convictions. What are we supposed to do now?

What what are we supposed to do now? Do you even realize what world you live in? Let me help you out. You live in a world where 90% are religious, and 10% pretend they aren't, despite it being evolutionarily impossible. Atheism is a modern invention. And now what? You going to ban everyone religious on this forum? 🤷

You have the right to think whatever you want, just like everyone else, but if you keep calling people sick, disturbed, or anything similar on the forum, you'll get banned.

Go ahead then, prove to me that:

- infertility,
- asexualism,
- homosexuality,
- pedophilia,
- and all other heresies and deviations

And one more thing:

- the choice to not have children, despite having all the normal conditions for reproduction.

(but that's a topic for another time)

... don't deviate from the norm and the fact that sexual organs exist exclusively for reproduction (if we exclude urination)? 🤷

Everything listed there is an anomaly, unfortunately for them.

And who am I insulting here? 😕

I assume you aren't a fanatic, so surely you agree that only a monster could command (and approve) something like that (killing homosexuals)?

Just to remind us:

Where exactly are we seeing the incitement of hatred, violence, and discrimination?

And who exactly is inciting violence against gay people? Is it the King and the theocracy in Saudi Arabia, or someone else?

Regarding those links, first off, the Old Testament has nothing to do with anyone's specific doctrine or what that second link represents in terms of teaching. Basically, the Old Law Wall is one thing, while the New Testament is something else entirely. That’s precisely why Judaism and Christianity—which evolved from Judaism—are two distinct faiths, not identical ones. They follow Abraham's Law and Moses, whereas Christians follow Jesus and a doctrine that has moved away from that Old Testament... etc etc.

Don't troll the thread with nonsense. What are you even talking about? Killing who? It's not like we're Josip Broz Marshall.

Don't be like that; for them, the old regime was nothing but love and consideration for one another.😂

Maybe it’s time an admin actually stepped up and clarified whether it's acceptable to claim a certain Religion is the greatest evil in history—especially since many people following that faith are right here on this forum—simply because the moderator seems to enjoy seeing those posts?

It seems to me you weren't nearly as vocal when people were arguing that atheism was to blame for the worst atrocities of the 20th century and things along those lines... Are you asking me to sanction those posts as well, or is it just the ones targeting your own faith that bother you 😉?

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't aware that atheism functioned as a cohesive group with a unified set of norms or a shared moral framework that could be lumped together under one label. That’s where the issue lies here: people tend to single out specific individuals from certain religions—not just Catholics—and then use them as a proxy to condemn every single member of that community as one.

Every major religion here in the States is offensive to followers of other faiths and to atheists alike.

Sure, someone might claim they aren't offended by outside religions, but the underlying message from most religions in this country remains the same: "you aren't one of us, and you're such trash that you deserve an eternity of absolute torment in hell just for existing."...

Are you kidding me? 🤦

Every time I bring up atheism, it’s a reaction to atheists insulting believers—in this case, Christians. The thread was titled "Why do Christians feel threatened..." and by its very nature, it's the perfect setup for an anti-theistic attack without much fighting, just pure sentiment.

Instead of admitting that your moderation on Reddit is incredibly unprofessional, you just keep piling on responses that get more absurd with every single one.

And yeah, atheism—that deep alienation from God and His commandments—is to blame "for the greatest crimes of the 20th century and so on..."

Learn how to do your job.

Rest my case.

To handle that role, one would need to be someone who prioritizes respect, tolerance, and an understanding of diverse convictions—someone level-headed, rather than someone who gets "deeply offended" by someone else's legitimate faith or worldview.

That is a personal stance you have openly shared, which leads one to wonder why you have volunteered to moderate this section for nearly ten years. Truly, why?🤷

If the goal is the well-being of the users and the health of the Reddit community, based on that comment above, it certainly doesn't look like that's the priority. (Unless I am missing something.)

I have to admit, this whole thing is a mystery to me too.
Why would Nicole James moderate Religion?
Watch out—that kind of attitude, those thoughts, those feelings... it'll offend him. He'll be offended by the very idea of preaching.

Take me, for example—I can't wrap my head around combat sports.
I just can't.
So, if I went over there to moderate, having to listen to people drone on about how fighting works or whatever... I couldn't do it.

I don't know... it's a mystery.🤷

You’re trolling at this point. No sane person takes offense just because another religion exists; you need to learn the difference between being insulted and simply disagreeing with a doctrine.
Modern theology tends to frame the Church as the optimal path to salvation, but it doesn't necessarily claim that salvation is impossible for those outside its walls. Regardless, that’s beside the point—even if we were discussing exclusivity, we’d be talking about theological claims, not personal insults.

Brilliant.
That’s exactly the vibe behind the campaign the Archdiocese of New Orleans has been running for four years now...

Oh, I see. So the Crusaders just had a "disagreement" with the people over there? The Conquistadors were just having a "difference of opinion" with the natives? The Inquisition was merely expressing a lack of consensus with their victims? And Jesus and Yahweh simply don't "agree" with atheists or followers of other faiths?
And Christians—the Church—just happen to "disagree" with homosexuals?

It's all just a disagreement. Nothing personal, nothing offensive... If one side disagrees, they should just politely explain their position to the other side (who, frankly, shouldn't even care why this "disagreeing side" is bothering them in the first place), right?
The Catholic side: "Look, my dear homosexual friend, now you know where I stand—and now that I've said it, I feel much better, because staying silent was killing me—let's just go our separate ways and I won't make your life difficult anymore."

Well, it seems I was foolishly under the impression we were discussing the modern era. But clearly, I was wrong. Crusaders, Conquistadors, and Inquisitors weren't "offended" by others existing; they twisted and exploited Christian doctrine to serve their own selfish interests. They weren't particularly offended by anyone's gold. As for what God, Yahweh, or Allah decides regarding salvation, that is known only to them. The Church disagrees with the homosexual act, not with homosexual people in general.

On a side note, I find it quite amusing how you're comparing our moderator to Conquistadors.🙂

Back to the Crusaders and Conquistadors, Malleus Maleficarum, Deus Lo Vult, NSC 68, Divine Redemptoris, the Proclamation, etc. 🙂

Regarding the topic "Why do Christians feel threatened?"—where back in 2013, the moderator was essentially torturing Catholics and believers in general—you've finally reached the end of the Middle Ages and the sins of those who used the Church and God's name for their own dark purposes. Just like how Adolf Hitler would throw around claims of being Catholic, or how Anders Breivik did, despite having zero clue about God, the Church, Catholicism, or a Catholic life beyond the lens of their own twisted skulls.

Being Catholic means following John Paul II, Mother Teresa, Gianna Beretta Molla, and Francis of Assisi. 🤷

And what you're doing now isn't right: constantly pushing homosexuality into this thread. This isn't about that; it's about Christians on the Religion forum. Why the trolling and the spam? 🤷

And furthermore, you're morbidly implying that we Catholics are calling for the murder of homosexuals? Who do you think you are? 😲

And here:
I guess you aren't a fanatic, so surely you agree that only a monster could order (and approve) something like that (killing homosexuals)?

It’s just a disagreement. Nothing personal, nothing offensive... shouldn't the side that disagrees nicely explain to the other side (who actually has no idea why the "disagreeing side" is even bothering them) that they disagree?
The Catholic side: "There, my dear homosexual, now you know I disagree with you—and now that I've said it, I feel better, I would have burst if I stayed quiet—let's just go our separate ways and I won't make your life difficult anymore."

Are you okay? What is this talk about homosexuals again? Stop shoving that in my face.

I don't know who is carrying out a conquest or an inquisition here. Maybe someone with a red username?

The summary of it all is that Catholics were debating, while atheists were using repression.

Not at all. There’s ecumenism, mutual respect, and cooperation between religions. Just look at how the leaders of various faiths interact, and you'll see there isn't any war going on there. Sure, individual followers might have incidents or even wars, but religion isn't the driving force behind that... For instance, it would be ridiculous to claim that an American contingent in Afghanistan represents a war between Catholics and Muslims, especially when you have Muslim allies like NATO partners Albania and Turkey.

If you actually look at the core of both religions, which ones should be hated more than Catholics and Jews... If you dig into the heart of both faiths, they call the central figure of the first one a liar and a false Prophet, while claiming he committed the most disgusting crimes during his life... so, there you have it... this... I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that... this...Look, we already have people among us who openly claim to belong to one of those religions... if you atheists want to turn this into a religion of your own, you’re going to have to be ready to cooperate, just like we do... We, the believers....

The issue with atheists is that their whole "religion" is basically built on being at war with actual faiths. It puts you guys in a way more militant position than any other religion out there. Your sacraments are just combat rituals directed at everyone else... Just chill out a bit. Try living in peace with all religions...

The bottom line is simple: Catholics engaged in actual debate, while atheists just resorted to repression.

If this topic is truly as spammed and troll-filled as you claim, then why bother discussing it at all? 😉 Besides, how can one even tell? If you respond to or build upon a post that was purely trolling or meant to start a fight, is that a real discussion, or just more bickering? Or perhaps something else entirely... maybe it isn't really a debate at all.

And if the majority of posts or entire threads are like this, doesn't it raise the question of why we should even leave a footprint by posting on such topics or subreddits in the first place?
