Summer? Please. In my book, summer needs that Latin tropical vibe. I’m getting major Blue Note vibes, though I haven't actually sat down to spin that record yet. I guess I could just throw out an album I haven't even listened to. Maybe some Romeo Santos? That bachata style is basically the definition of summer music. 😬

EDIT: Forget it, I missed the boat. 😁

quietbison86 said:I didn't vote since I didn't listen to everything—just felt like it was only fair

I mean, I'm pretty sure the vote wouldn't have gone to Cannibal Corpse anyway, maybe it would've gone to Shaka Zula, so they probably would've just split the spot

Yeah, thanks—really rubbing salt in the wound there😁

redbear12 said:Summer? Hmm. Personally, I think that should be some kind of Latin tropical vibe. It makes me think of The Blue Note, though I haven't actually sat down and listened to that album. I guess I might be suggesting an album I haven't even heard myself. Maybe something by Romeo Santos—that bachata style feels like real summer music to me. 😬

EDIT: Never mind, I'm too late😁

If I remember correctly, those guys were already winners once before.

Kevin Chavez3 said:because they were suggesting some stupid live album. Honestly, if they had just dropped "Eaten Back to Life," it would have absolutely crushed it.

I don't buy it—even that album wouldn't have saved them. It’s obvious people just aren't feeling this kind of music during the summer, and honestly, they probably aren't feeling it any other time of year either.😁

I’ve no clue if we’re waiting another week for the official summer album drop, but honestly? I’m dropping this now regardless of whether it counts or not.
This is the ultimate summer record.

Not gonna happen. You're better off talking about the Grateful Dead instead.

They just pop these threads whenever they feel like it, and if they aren't straight-up lying, they’re definitely just using word salad to dodge the point.

Yeah, we’ll kick off the thread once we can actually manage the poll ourselves and gauge if there's enough interest to spark a real discussion. That’s the whole point—listening to everyone's different picks together and chatting about them, rather than just showing up to push my own agenda.

There are always people interested, just like there were before! 🙂 And I’ve noticed that the ones who stick around are the ones who actually contributed something positive to the topic, instead of feeling the need to turn everything into some massive drama over nothing. Look, we're adults here; we don't have time for that.

And honestly, that's exactly why some people just stopped following along and stopped posting…

redbear12, man, you're a little late to the party this time; it only lasted four days. But you can still look back at all the albums from this group, including the one that ended up getting its own separate thread. 🙂

So, my plan from about a year ago was to just grab albums one by one—mostly anniversary reissues—from some famous "best of" lists. I figured we could group them under a specific theme every couple of days or so, and then everyone can just jump in and say whatever they want. You know, stuff most people already have an opinion on. I was thinking about those recent lists from Rolling Stone. But honestly, I don't want anyone to hijack my idea—feel free to go off and do your own thing. This format doesn't make much sense anyway, since most people can't be bothered to listen to everything others suggest, which leaves them with nothing to actually talk about. That’s pretty much how I approach it most of the time.

Why is my post getting censored? Is it that whole "no links allowed" rule the mod keeps harping on about? 🤷

Look, I haven't even listened to a single one of these albums, but they just don't scream "summer vibes" to me. 🙂: 😬 (Maybe something like Shaka Zulu if we're talking bargain-bin party trash)

My point was basically this: what's the use of having a "top topic" if it stays locked down for months?

Since threads on this forum pop up like weeds after a rainstorm anyway, why not just do an "Album of the Week" thing based on genre or mood? Like, say, Album of the Week—Relax & Mystic style Vox Clamantis-Jeremias This was perfect for a sweltering afternoon today.

Probably mostly anniversary releases from those big "best of" lists everyone knows. We could group them under a specific theme every couple of days or so, and then people can just jump in and write whatever they want. Basically, stuff most people are already somewhat familiar with. I was thinking about those recent lists from Rolling Stone. But, I don't want anyone to feel like I'm taking over; please, come up with your own ideas. The current format doesn't really work, honestly, because most people don't feel like listening to every single thing others suggest—which means they don't have much to contribute. And I tend to lean that way most of the time, I guess.

Are you sure that’s how your idea went? 😁 I suppose you're right, though I had something completely different stuck in my head—and it didn't even involve albums. Anyway, the previous idea wasn't great, so I'm hoping someone else joins in with a cool suggestion so we can pick up where we left off.

To comment on the winning album, you really only need to listen to that one, but expecting someone to sit through all 10 or 15 suggestions before they vote... well, that's asking a lot. But we've already gone over that, so I don't think there's any point in repeating myself..

There was this other one—the one I just mentioned, which I actually left out on purpose earlier.

Honestly, half the people on this forum probably wouldn't even bother with a debate like this anyway—they just don't have the energy to dive into stuff that's already common knowledge. Then there's the other half who probably can't stand listening to everyone else's input. I'm definitely in that second camp, too—to be real, I usually don't even listen to most suggestions; I just skim through what a few specific people say because I already know exactly where they're headed. It's a bad habit, yeah.

Geinoh Yamashirogumi – Akira Soundtrack (1988)

Asian influence

The entire album was actually composed by Daniel Lopatin on his very first Juno-60 back when he was just in kindergarten. Shoji Yamashiro allegedly swiped the whole thing using some kind of spy chip that Roland used to embed in all their synths at the time, though Lopatin hasn't been able to prove it to this day.

So, what’s the move? What are we thinking?

Solid story, Arthur Brown6—honestly feels better than the music. 😁

I assume you finally got an answer to your question.

As for that gut feeling you mentioned in the second sentence—honestly, I haven't a clue. I’d love to hear your take, though I have my doubts that'll actually happen. Not that it matters much, anyway.

Arthur Brown6, if I actually listen to this today—even though I've been stuck on Lana Del Rey for days now—it might actually mean something. 😁

So, I tried opening this thing like five times the other day and nothing happened—now it feels like it's totally zipped up too. This is clearly some intense conceptual DIY project, just classic Arthur Brown6 stuff. It’s pretty obvious where we stand when there isn't even anything on YouTube about it, and you know you can basically find half the neighborhood farting on there. 😁

Vança, since you're hanging around—what’s the deal with this thread? Are we planning to breathe some life back into it, or is it finally heading to the archives? If there's an intention to restart things, when would that even happen? And if not... well, why not just kick off something fresh instead? Dennis Hall41 has already thrown out a few suggestions, so maybe others should jump in too if they have a cool idea. It might be worth trying to revive this PDF one more time.

It feels like a waste to let this part of the forum go quiet again—especially since activity picked up quite a bit during the weekly album.
