analoglynx23, don't be like those people who beg for permanent bans just to get off the forum. If the garbage doesn't suit you, then stop posting. Go back to wherever you were during those months you were gone. 😉

Honestly, since you left, not a single decent trash post has been made. 😢 Trash went into a deep winter sleep the moment you walked out—now we're all wondering if it'll ever actually wake up.

It’s pretty obvious that the PDF is short on moderators.

I honestly don't get why it's such a huge deal to just bring on one or two more mods. You could either pick from the people who are always hanging out on that subforum, or, if there isn't anyone suitable there, maybe just grab some users from another PDF?

It's not like you're paying the moderators, so I assume increasing the headcount isn't an issue for financial reasons.

I just don't understand this self-sabotage where you're basically creating more work for yourselves. From what I can see, there are plenty of people on that PDF who would be happy to step up and help out. 🙂

If we are talking strictly about the headcount of mods, I wouldn't say anyone is missing. 😁
Honestly, just one single moderator could handle it without breaking a sweat—they'd just need to log in once a day, clear out the off-topic stuff, delete those massive image files, and give people a quick heads-up whenever they violate the garbage rules.
There isn't any deep philosophy happening there, no major drama among users, no intense debates... nothing of that sort.

I agree with Kovi on exactly one point, which is that the users are what actually make the PDF section what it is, not the mods. But man, let me tell you—anyone who actually had the energy to try and revive the PDF section ended up leaving because it's just exhausting reading through three pages of total nonsense, only to have some random, "funny" garbage post jump in right in the middle of a serious discussion about whether someone is actually okay or just underage. You need someone there to maintain order and clean things up, just to start with... then, eventually, the users will find their way back... 😳

It’s totally normal for user numbers to fluctuate in any thread. People drop off for all sorts of reasons—getting hitched, having a kid, getting sick, whatever—and then new people jump in, so the crowd naturally shifts. But honestly, I’ve never seen a thread "die" so hard that it actually needs to be shut down, which is pretty much what analoglynx23 is implying here. ☕

*though I haven't really noticed anyone leaving just because of the mods.

There isn't less garbage; we just came up with better filters to catch it. Why bother rehashing the same stupid crap a thousand times just to make sure a thread doesn't look quiet for a few days? I'd much rather post nothing at all than some low-effort crap 🙂or some random nonsense like "the guy finished in the bathroom with the door open, am I pregnant?". 🙄

To be fair, there were more posts back when analoglynx23 was a mod, but let's be real: the stuff people used to post back then wouldn't fly today. I remember when you had twelve-year-olds constantly fighting in the threads, so they brought in the "no kids" rule, then the rule against linking profiles directly, then the rule against posting screenshots of names like Maw Swatkwic, then the rule about not posting screenshots of people who have 26 friends listed as family, and so on... I wonder how many posts were lost because of all that. It makes me wonder if those rules were even worth it. Because if we didn't have them, there would be way more posts, and the garbage wouldn't be considered "dead."

Every thread evolves with the times and new guidelines. Mods should stay on top of things and not let stuff like direct profile linking slide, even though I see it still happening despite being reported.
In my opinion, someone who doesn't follow their own rules doesn't really have much ground to stand on when accusing others of killing a thread.

I really hope I'm not one of the reasons things are getting messy here. I'll admit, sometimes I get a bit stuck on things, or maybe I get a little too hyped up (though I always try to keep it somewhat lighthearted 😁), but generally speaking, I try my best to follow the rules. 😉

I think Dajrica is onto something regarding how the standards for what gets posted in the trash section have shifted compared to a year or two ago—which, if you ask me, is probably for the better.

In my opinion, a small subforum like this doesn't really need a moderator who just goes around handing out bans left and right. It would be much better to have more of a guiding hand that helps steer the conversation and keeps the discussions growing.

What exactly is there to be confused about?

In the previous discussion—the one that wrapped up with that classic, "Alright, we've brought Tyndall on board, everything is fixed now, everything will be fine, you can all go in peace" vibe—the administrator was being as crystal clear as humanly possible when discussing another PDF: "there are plenty of forum users who are both capable and willing to moderate it, and if there were, I would have appointed them already".

Therefore, the task now is to sift through the existing pool of worthy candidates to find someone who actually possesses the ability and the drive. Clearly, that isn't happening; clearly, there is a bottleneck somewhere, and that—right there—is the core of the problem.
