What's up, people?

A little bit of pre-90s American noise from back in the day, straight out of Houston, Texas:

2. Burial AT Ornans (09:20)
3. Cerulean Transience of All my Imagined Shores (21:22)

The original record is widely viewed as one of the foundational pillars that kickstarted the whole death/doom genre. This version just features a slightly more polished production, though it’s still 👍

👍👍👍

...honestly, if you look at the 2CD Deluxe edition from 2010, the absolute standout is The Ballad of 32 (Mix 2). It’s nearly 11 minutes long. That's where the magic happens. You can really hear the instrumentation take flight and go full Pink Floyd on you. It's spectacular.

Engineer, Mastered by, Artwork by [ cover Concept ], Music by, Lyrics by, performer [ All Instruments and Voices ] – Bill Nelson

"Recorded between spring and Winter 1981 AT Ric-Rac Studios (Leeds), and Rockfield Studios (Monmouth). The material on this album constitutes approximately half of The total recordings made AT various intervals between april and November 1981. The remainder will hopefully appear in various forms throughout The Coming Months."

This is a complete one-man studio project. Music / Lyrics... I played practically every single instrument you hear on this record.
If you can argue that certain albums in the pop-rock world possess a specific kind of "sound design," then this is definitely one of those records.

Empire of The Senses

eros Arriving

He and Sleep Were Brothers

When Your dream of Perfect beauty Comes True ( instrumental )

Flaming Desire (promo video)

The October man

The Passion (instrumental)

I already know exactly who’s going to win the vote the second I saw Pukey’s pick😁

I noticed there hasn't been any mention of them here at all—which is ridiculous because they're such a significant indie band—so I’m trying to fix that injustice by putting forward their most iconic album
Honestly, I think the other albums will eventually find their way into the conversation too since they have some seriously beautiful stuff out there, and this week's lineup is already looking pretty stacked

Arthur Brown6 said:Nelson's Chance Encounters in The Garden of Lights is actually quite intriguing to me.

......I skimmed this pretty quickly, just seeing "Chance Encounters" as the title.......it caught my eye.......and I wanted to build on that because I’ve spent the last few days diving deep into almost his entire discography. I have to admit, in all my years listening to music, I’ve rarely encountered someone who is such a quintessential "profile artist," if that makes sense.

.....Over a 40-year career, he’s put out more than 120 releases.....mostly studio albums.....plus a massive amount of compilations, some of which are sprawling 3, 4, or even 5-CD sets....and that’s not even counting the Be Bop Deluxe era......so when you really crunch the numbers, the total is way higher.

......But anyway.....the point I was getting at is that while scrolling through his titles, I don't think I've ever been quite this impressed by them, especially something like this one.......both the album titles and the songs themselves, which serve as such strong themes......especially since there is so much instrumental work.

.....Honestly, maybe it isn't surprising that everything is so sonically—and literally—shaped by his words and imagery (like the album art)......after all, the man is a painter and a photographer in addition to everything else he does......

We've got 14 albums on the table, yet the threads discussing last week's picks only have two comments apiece?

There's really no point in doing this if we're just running a poll and then letting it die without any actual discussion afterward.

It’s honestly pointless if we're just running a poll without anyone actually saying anything afterward.

I'm finally sitting down today to drop my thoughts on Robert and the rest of the group from two weeks ago—honestly, I haven't even finished listening to everything properly yet! :/

Some people are posting their takes, while others... well, unfortunately, they're staying silent.

Some people have their takes ready, while others—sadly—don't

I can't edit my comment anymore, so I'll just quote myself

It feels totally pointless to weigh in on stuff I didn't even vote for—clearly, I didn't want those albums to end up being the "Albums of the Week," right?
I'll get to the rest of them more or less soon

I've decided to be way more selective about which albums actually get my vote this time around. Why? Because last week I totally overreached with my picks since I didn't have enough time to actually listen to everything. I mean, I'm sure most of you know how that goes—you end up picking all the obvious classics just because you couldn't squeeze in every single suggestion within a 24-hour window. It happens!

Let's be real: trying to listen to 14 albums in such a short span is impossible, and it's pretty obvious who's going to take the win this week based on that alone
Even if you're just being "selective," trying to tackle 14 albums is still a massive challenge
