Look, I honestly can't tell if it's actually any good or not. I've had enough sensory overload for one day, so I ended up skipping it after just a few minutes. I really needed something more chill... maybe I'll give it another shot tomorrow! 🙂

I was actually looking for something a bit more chill, but then I went and listened to the new Anaal Nathrakh - Endarkenment. Total album of the month!

I’m honestly not a fan of making the tough calls in situations like this. I'd much rather just let someone else take the lead. There are plenty of solid candidates on both sides anyway, so if more of them make the cut this time, great. If not, also great.

We’ve done this three-album stretch once before, and honestly, it was a pretty interesting week.
So, I figure we can do it again, assuming everyone is on board. Arthur Brown6, Dennis Hall41, and Gerald Jackson48—you guys down?

Just hit me up whenever you're ready over the weekend... 🙂

As far as I'm concerned, I voted for them to end up winning more in the end.

I absolutely loved this today! I've already listened to it a few times, along with his other one, 'wasuremono'. It's such beautiful, soothing American electronic minimalism. It really reminded me of something. I'm hoping for a tie! Might need to dig through some of his older albums too.

You honestly can't go wrong with him, no matter what you pick. He might be at his most impressive when he's steering clear of generic chillout stuff, but even then, he knows his craft. Definitely check out 'Lust' and 'Red Curb'.

Maybe later this afternoon or tonight—it’s gonna be a struggle. I’ve never actually sat down to write about Prince, mostly because trying to pin down what his music even *is* feels impossible.

I noticed even the albums that don't score the highest still get their own threads.

Can anyone just start a topic for their own "album of the week" suggestion, or does an album actually have to meet certain criteria before it can be put in a new thread? I'm a little lost here. Thanks for the help 🙂

I’m not sure which underrated albums you're talking about. Give me a few examples... 🙂
We had a pretty specific situation this past week where all ten albums actually won. So they all got lumped together...

Anyway, we only start threads with that 'Album of the Week' prefix for the ones that get the most votes. That's just the rule. If there's a tie, we can have up to three, like right now.

And obviously, you can start a thread about any album whenever you want; just don't use that red tag in front of the title.
🙂

Are we doing some kind of themed Halloween special week, or is everyone just doing their own thing?

That’s actually a great call. I’ve got one killer album in mind that would be perfect for a themed week like that.👍

Honestly, 10,000 Days and Ænima are easily the worst Tool albums in my book, and man, 10,000 Days is just desperately bad. I used to blast Ænima constantly back when I was in college; both that and Lateralus were my absolute go-to records whenever I needed to lock in and focus on studying. I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit how long ago that was 🧐

To be honest, 10,000 Days was kind of a letdown for me. Some tracks grew on me later, though—like The Pot. For me, Ænima is their absolute peak. Maybe it’s just because I heard it right when it dropped, but even looking back now, it’s still their best work. With Lateralus, they leaned way too hard into that prog-metal vibe and started taking themselves way too seriously, IMO. They lost that sense of irony and self-deprecation, and that "X factor" that gave Ænima so much depth is just gone.
