I actually picked up the vinyl reissue of this album the other day—fingers crossed they drop the second one on wax soon too.

There were three options on the table—Steely Dan, Arsen Dedić, and The KLF—but I put my vote behind the KLF-ovac crowd, since they don't stand a chance if they're stuck sitting at just three votes.
"3 AM Somewhere out of Beaumont" and (especially) "Wichita Lineman Was a song i Once Heard" easily rank among the most sublime, original pieces of electronic production ever made—and then some.

High school crushes—man, I've listened to those old tracks more times than I can count. 🎉
Roulette Dares, this apparatus, Televators...
Lisa Davis46 recently introduced me to the Discipline of Crimson album—it's such a trip! This thing—it’s actually pretty interesting! To me, it sounds like something they just listened to on repeat until it stuck—and then they probably just copied it down later. 😁 And it’s not just them! Honestly, I find myself listening to her all the time—it's such a vibe.

Jason White17 said:Listening to KLF - Chill out (1990) again today—it just hits different when you're driving through the suburbs at night. Such a vibe!

Here’s the link to the full album on YouTube!

What an absolute gem—honestly, where has this been hiding all my life? 🙏 What a wonderful trip—I absolutely loved every second of it! 😍

analogbear40 said:Just revisited Coil - Musick taj Play in The dark from '99—man, what a trip. It’s one of those albums that just stays with you long after the needle drops.

Stay brave! 😁 I really dig them, though I almost never actually sit down to listen—honestly! Their Apa of Naples is such a standout, too. I was actually thinking about suggesting it here back when Swans were the album of the week, but I have a feeling it probably wouldn't have caught on anyway.

To be honest, Steely Dan always felt a little bit like "dad music" to me—just one of those bands you hear playing in the background at a backyard BBQ. 😁Honestly, there’s still a certain kind of beauty to be found in it all...

Hey, so I actually met Ikeyj once! He was the keyboard player back when he was with... Free Moral Agents... Man, catching that show at KSET was something else! I really wish I could’ve caught The Mars Volta live, though... they split up just a year before he passed away. But hey, I'll take what I can get, right? At least I got to experience some incredible live music!

So, the other day Lisa Davis46 actually introduced me to the Discipline of Crimson album... and man, talk about a total game changer! this apparatus... Honestly, it sounds like something they just listened to on repeat until it was burned into their brains, and then they just copied it down later... 😁 And it's not just them either! I find myself listening to her all the time, seriously... she's just so good!

I'm just sitting here waiting for someone else to kick things off! If there’s one thing I’ve been obsessing over lately, it’s definitely progressive rock... I haven't actually dived deep enough into Crimson to feel like I could write the opening post myself, even though they're absolutely incredible...😉

To be perfectly honest, I stopped listening to Coil quite a while ago. Back in high school, I had a Horse Rotorowator record, but at the time, I was more into the provocative track titles and that fascinating cover art than actually being able to grasp their sound—not that I was sixteen and ready for that level of depth. They were never really my primary focus, though they would pop up every now and then, mostly because of their connections to artists I eventually gravitated toward, like Boyd Rice.
But, just about when I started getting serious about ambient music, time Machines came out, and that was a genuine revelation for me.

I picked Musick taj Play in The dark because it reminds me of that incredible documentary, industrial soundtrack for The urban Decay (2015), where the first track plays during the closing credits.

Charles Ramos4 said:Edit: I'm asking the admins again about changing the color in the thread title 🙂

Solved (just posting here so I don't clutter up the good discussion 🙂 ). Basically, you should be able to do it right when you start a new thread! You just grab that prefix next to the title, and "Album of the Week" is one of the options. That's really all there is to it. Just a little technical thing that turns it red... 😉

Thanks 👍 I assume that Album of the Week prefix is already highlighted in red, but I'm just asking to be absolutely sure?

Nah, but you don't really have many options to choose from anyway. It's just the chat and the Album of the Week 😁 Once you open the thread, it’ll definitely show up red if that's what you're worried about...

After those random comments about the Thrak topic, I actually thought you might really dig that album! 🙂
I guess I'll get around to checking out The Mars Volta eventually. I know a few people who are huge fans of both them and KC.

Their Apa of Naples is something else. I actually thought about suggesting it here ever since Swans were the album of the week, but honestly, I doubt it would have even made the cut.

Yeah, they kind of are. My last boss used to blast them in the office all the time, especially that new album from this week.
I guess I’m pretty used to that kind of grit and dust in the production... honestly, I think it sounds great!

Look, about what you said regarding not suggesting that album because you think it won't fly—please, just put it out there anyway. Especially since it's the day before tomorrow... because we know another surprise is coming. 😉

Steven Newman50 said:I'm just sitting here waiting for someone else to make a suggestion. If there’s one thing I’ve been really digging lately, it’s prog. I haven't actually listened to enough Crimson to feel like I could pull off making the opening post, even though they’re great.😉

Alright, I'm going to suggest Crimson... maybe right in that first regular week of January!
🙂

Our next big, joyful Christmas album reveal is coming tomorrow, Wednesday.
Look, can we all just hold off on the suggestions until Thursday? I’m looking at you, Arthur Brown6, you're being way too impatient.
