That’s the whole point of listening to full albums—stuff you hate at first can actually turn out to be fire later. 🙂 If I could just cut out those "glitchy" bits, it would be perfect, but otherwise, I'm digging it. :P
Glad to hear it. 👍
Who knows—after a couple more listens, you might find you can't even imagine the album without those weird parts. 😁

I was planning on stepping up and calling him out too, but then this new cowboy rode into town:

I've already got the album on repeat for the third time today.
Yeah, I was actually planning on voting for them. It totally slipped my mind. 🤦

Don't mention it.

Same here. I'm mostly curious if we'll end up with way more suggestions than comments again, or if we finally flip the script and see more actual discussions than just feedback.😁

I suspect the issue stems from the fact that our "Album of the Week" is never actually just one album; it always ends up being a list of three to ten different records. If we call it an Album of the Week, then it really needs to be just one single album...

Maybe we just run a tie-breaker right after the main poll wraps up? Just throw in the albums that actually managed to win? 🤔
Honestly, I don't even mind this whole setup where we end up with multiple winners.

And check out what Lisa Davis46 is up to... Neil Young...Man, albums are dropping so fast lately... I can barely keep up! Honestly, I'm just totally drowning in all this new music... 😁
I mean, I totally get where you're coming from—we definitely churn through these posts faster than we can actually sit down and listen to them! But then again, we’ve got such a massive backlog of topics that anyone can jump in whenever they feel like it... And hey, Fadil, you were away from the forum for a bit anyway, so you weren't exactly keeping up with the listening or the comments during your hiatus... 🙂
I mean, you're totally right—if people just chime in whenever they feel like it, then it can't really be called "Album of the Week," but honestly? I don't think that's a bad thing at all! Look at Coltrane right now... he's only got six posts going. But those aren't just random comments; they’re six incredibly high-quality deep dives from folks who actually know their stuff and have something real to contribute. That's the beauty of it! People can come back in two years, read those insights, and still learn something new. And hey, anyone else can always jump in and add their own spin whenever they want...
I mean, sure, using Coltrane as an example is just one way to look at it, but honestly? This goes for pretty much any great record. Sometimes you really have to lean into that "less is more" philosophy... it just works! Though, obviously, nothing beats a heated debate over those polarizing albums that get everyone fired up and picking sides. Like that last one from Charlie, for instance... man, people had thoughts!
That’s exactly how you should be thinking when you're picking out album suggestions! If you actually want a real conversation going, you’ve gotta throw out something that stirs the pot a little... give us something that might spark a debate or get people disagreeing. I mean, at least you aren't afraid to stir things up a bit! Whether it's through the suggestion itself or just how you frame the topic... just keep it spicy... 😬

So, we’re using a randomizer for the Movie of the Week—which basically turns it into a Movie of the Month situation—but honestly, there’s just no point trying to squeeze two movies into one slot... it gets messy. We thought about doing the same thing with albums at first, but we ended up just letting everyone through if there was a tie early on. Sometimes you really don't want to skip an album because you feel like it totally earned its spot as the theme, especially when the votes are already piling up for it... it just feels wrong to pass it up! 🙂

I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus—but honestly, I usually end up commenting more than I actually vote. And if I am voting, I’m almost always leaving a comment too, especially when I'm backing the winners. To be fair, picking and voting isn't even my main thing. The only times I stay quiet is when I’m slammed for time—or when I just couldn't care less about something, to the point where even calling it "bad" or "mid" feels like too much effort.

Finally managed to cast my vote on time, moving on to 🙏
My next big goal—and I mean really stick to this—is trying to listen to every single album suggested for the week 😬
But I’ve got a question for you guys: can we "raid" those albums that someone suggested before but didn't actually make the cut for the weekly rotation? 😁

I'm honestly not sure if I can stomach that much grunge all in one week. 😁
Maybe I'll try to dive in, though. I just get this feeling that it was all a thing of the past.

Since we just finished up a whole week of post-rock, I figured it’s about time we dive into some grunge 😁
#1499 ·
Look, if I can stomach all that artsy nonsense like Talking Heads and those other 80s disasters, I can certainly handle some grunge. Honestly, most of what gets posted here feels like pure snobbery—people just trying to prove how cool they are for listening to ambient tracks. 🙏 In reality, the most intense stuff comes from those bands leaning into art-rock, post-punk, and all that other garbage that our favorite leftists obsess over. It’s like "art" is a dirty word. There is nothing worse than that 80s new wave garbage.
To each their own, I guess.

Whoa, why so defensive? I’m just saying it felt weird that both dropped in the exact same week. A buddy of mine actually reminded me that we already had a couple of other albums—pretty different ones, granted—come out recently within the same genre. 🙂
Anyway, I’m all for "to each their own," but there's no need to trash someone else's taste. Seems like you're having a bit of a hard time with that concept. 😁
