Morbius is the upcoming superhero flick based on Marvel's comics. It'll serve as the second installment in Sony's Marvel Universe, following
Venom.
Michael Morbius is a respected biochemist dealing with a rare blood disorder. Desperate for a cure, he decides to run a dangerous experiment on himself using vampire bat DNA—only to accidentally turn himself into an actual vampire.

I'm really hoping we get that gritty Blade vibe with plenty of blood on screen everywhere.
But honestly, I’m worried we might end up with some bright, colorful, kid-friendly flick where the hero just tosses out cheap one-liners that are supposed to be funny.

Jared's never been that kind of actor, he wouldn't touch that stuff with a ten-foot pole.
Just read that it was actually a huge struggle to even land him for this role.

This is gonna be exactly like Venom, and I am seriously hyped—it's gonna crush it. Besides, Jared's totally in his element when things get dark and creepy.

I mean, this looks like it's going to be a movie in the style of Venom, and I'm honestly pretty hyped for it. It'll probably crush it. Besides, Jared has already proven he's perfect for those creepy, dark roles.

It’s part of the MCU!!! That Vulture cameo actually jolted me out of this freaking boring trailer, and then when I saw 2:03, it’s just another nod to MCU Spider-Man.

The trailer was a total snooze-fest until Vulture showed up.

To be honest, the trailer felt pretty lackluster and uninspiring until they finally showed Jared as Morbius—those red eyes and teeth really grabbed me, and then that bit at the end with Keaton... suddenly, I’m actually genuinely interested. Especially since it looks like there might be some clear ties to the MCU and Spider-Man. Hmm.

Following the success of Venom, Sony's ongoing expansion of the Spider-Man universe now shifts its focus toward Morbius.

There was actually a plan to weave Morbius into the original Blade trilogy (1998-2004), though unfortunately, that idea was ultimately scrapped. It’s interesting to note that in the nineties animated series, Blade and Spider-Man are actually close allies, teaming up to take down various villains, including Morbius.

Eliza looks incredible in the trailer. I really hope she makes the final cut in the movie.

The comment section under this trailer is absolutely wild 🤣—you can read just about anything in there (apparently someone thinks we're getting a Batman with superpowers), and people are totally lost. They have no clue which universe this actually fits into because the footage throws in references to all three Spider-Man iterations, the MCU, and everything else under the sun.
It looks decent enough, and honestly, I think Jared Leto pulls off the role quite well, but I don't see the point of any of this. This whole concept they've cooked up—this entire cinematic universe—feels completely pointless to me, even if you set Spider-Man aside. I really don't get what Sony is playing at here. Is their only goal to squeeze out a few extra bucks by confusing the audience? Are they just going to churn out a standalone movie for every single Spider-Man villain, link them all together, and eventually force us into some sort of Sinister Six crossover? 🤷

Knock, knock. It feels kind of lukewarm to me. Sort of like Venom.

I just hope these roles don't end up tanking Hardy and Jared.

The reception for this has been incredibly poor.
Rotten Tomatoes is currently sitting at a dismal 16% based on 200 reviews.

Critics consensus:
Plagued by uninspired visual effects, formulaic acting, and a plot that borders on nonsensical, this bleak disaster is a desperate attempt to make Morbius happen.

This looks even worse than Venom, which was an absolute disaster.

So I watched this yesterday because my wife is obsessed with vampire movies.

Personally, the movie wasn't the total train wreck those early reviews made it out to be, but it’s definitely not worth a trip to the theater, and I'm not even sure if it's worth watching at home.😁

The plot is just incredibly thin—by the end, you realize you could have summarized the whole thing in four sentences. The CGI is a huge factor here; it doesn't look terrible, but I bet 95% of it was shot against a green screen.

Some scenes are such a mess that between the shaky cam and the CGI vampires, you have zero clue what's actually happening on screen.

And maybe the biggest letdown: it's almost impossible to feel any empathy for the characters. You just don't care what happens to anyone.

The best part of the whole film is probably that I haven't seen Jared in a role where he actually talks normally and acts like a regular human being in like 20 years.
