The B-side of that killer 1983 album All the World's Wonders kicks off with this gorgeous, upbeat love track—it’s basically proof that Film went from being top-tier punk/new-wave pros to absolute masters of pop polish by the time they hit "You Shine":

You really need to see human solidarity in action when an allergy attack hits you hard; 🙂 you just hope someone doesn't take the opportunity to bash you over the head with something.

I'll take your word for it. 😁 Everyone is a little on edge, and this whole self-isolation thing can be quite tricky.
Looking at my students, you'd expect them to be counting down the minutes until school is out, but they keep reaching out, asking for assignments and things to write, just trying to cling to some semblance of a normal daily routine.

It’ll turn out fine; we've survived much worse than this, so we'll get through it too.

Well, 😁

Spot on. 🙂

Anyway, moving on...

The only things in this entire mess that aren't constantly driving me up the wall are my favorite cigarettes.😁

New York Times: Jura from small-town Ohio is absolutely killing it!

Just because the theaters are closed doesn't mean we stop caring about Cinema...😁
Yesterday I mentioned on a New York Times forum that the vibe lately reminds me of Cyclops—but walking through half the city today in this heat, hitting those mostly empty streets, I got this subtle, heavy sense of dread. It’s that exact feeling this track captures so perfectly, and honestly, it feels more spot on for right now:

The one and only Grateful Dead at their absolute peak—October 18, 1974, at the legendary Winterland Ballroom, a venue they basically lived in before it closed its doors four years later.

This might just be the definitive version of one of their anthems—Morning Dew.
There’s something almost spiritual about this performance—this raw, unscripted, totally democratic
vibe where the chemistry and connection between the band and the crowd is just unreal. Only Deadheads could pull off something this deep.

yeah, allergy season is just starting to peak.

Everything’s gone haywire this year (at least where I am) — I was out longer yesterday because of the pollen, and everything is blooming at once. Stuff that should have finished is still going, and stuff that shouldn't even be out yet is already popping up. It's insane.
Jamie Davis9 said:I believe you. 😁 Everyone’s on edge, and this whole isolation thing can be a real mess.
Looking at my students, you'd think they'd be dying for summer break, but they keep reaching out asking what they need to study or write, just trying to cling to some sense of normalcy and routine.

And honestly, most of them couldn't care less.
we'll get through it, we've survived worse, so we'll survive this too...

Exactly!

Was watching a concert last night (livestream, obviously), so speaking of which ...

Sunshine Daydream (Veneto, OR, 8/27/72) is easily one of the greatest live albums in the massive Grateful Dead catalog—and that killer version of Bird Song on here is just unreal.

For my 14th birthday, my old man handed me four CDs: King Crimson's In the Court of the Crimson King, the debut from Wishbone Ash, On the Road, and Grateful Dead's Europe '72.

That last one was my first real brush with the Dead—it turned me into a bit of an addict. I wouldn't call myself a hardcore Deadhead, but when the mood hits, I can go weeks listening to nothing but them.

From that Europe '72 set—which is stacked with incredible music—comes maybe the most vital ten minutes of their entire catalog. It’s basically a staple of their live shows: the China Cat Sunflower / I Know You Rider medley, captured right here at the Paris Olympia on May 3, 1972.

The way they pivot from that initial spacey psychedelia into the more grounded, country/folk-rock vibe of the jam is just wild—there's this indescribable, phenomenal feeling during those 3 or 4 minutes where they just float in a quantum state between songs.

Even now, I still don't get how they pull it off—how the band sounds like some kind of living organism—and this recording is the ultimate proof.

wiredmason61 said:Everything’s gone haywire this year—at least in my neck of the woods. I spent way too much time out in the garden yesterday because the weather was actually decent, but it’s bizarre; things are blooming that should have been pruned ages ago, and stuff that shouldn't even be waking up yet is already flowering. It’s just total madness.

I ended up unwrapping all my lemons, blood oranges, and the rest of my citrus crops, only to spend today wrapping them all back up because there's a winter storm and some nasty wind supposed to hit. These times are getting weird.

God, I am just so incredibly done with this constant string of bad luck!
A side wall in my apartment just cracked open right in front of me. It honestly gave me such a massive fright that I’m still sitting here trying to catch my breath and compose myself.

We’re all just sitting here waiting for the locust plague to hit. I honestly can't figure out who this "promised people" supposed to be, or who Moses is even meant to be in all this.
