"WHD" is exactly what you'd expect: a total collection of clichés and mindless fluff. It feels like they just scraped the best bits from much better movies and glued them together.
The setup and the middle stretch are pretty tedious—though, I will say, it turns into this weirdly, aggressively stupid kind of fun toward the end.
But then the finale happens and just drags the whole experience back down into the dirt.

Now, Olympus Has Fallen covers the exact same ground and is just as dumb, but it's actually way better. The reason? The plot feels more like a loose excuse to watch the lead character go on a rampage, whereas in White House Down, there's action everywhere but it feels strangely bloodless—plus, it's dripping with an amount of American patriotism that's almost nauseating.
Look, let's not waste any more breath on White House Down. It's forgettable.

Skip "WHD" and just go watch "OHF" instead.

Honestly, they both seem like total garbage.😁

I mean, you can definitely spot Ashley Judd in "Olympus Has Fallen"—she’s practically buried under layers of Botox, and she barely even gets two minutes of screen time!

Hold on just a second—are we talking about something even more cringeworthy than that scene where the woman is dragging herself across the floor in her final moments in Olympus Has Fallen?!
OMG! 😂

Honestly, it's one of those movies that only works if you completely switch off your brain.😁
Now, I suppose some terrorist might watch this and realize just how vulnerable The White House actually is. You'd probably need an entire battalion of Korean special forces to pull it off, but hey, the movie makes it look doable.😂

I can see this movie has a really polarized following when it comes to both fans and critics. 😁 You’ve got one group absolutely raving about it while another side is just tearing it apart, so I guess you could say the reception is pretty much split right down the middle.

I finally sat down and watched it last night, and honestly, I have to say I actually enjoyed it. The opening sequence is especially intense—just packed with action and a plot that keeps you hooked—and even when it shifts gears into more of a cat-and-mouse game later on, I found myself staying engaged.

Look, sure, there’s a fair amount of cheesiness involved, but come on, don't act like you weren't expecting that level of melodrama in a flick like this. I mean, if you even bothered to start watching this movie in the first place, you probably already knew what kind of ride you were signing up for. Plus, at the end of the day, it’s all about Americans and protecting our own sacred ground and the homeland. 😁
Along with the cheese, there’s definitely some nonsense going on, like that enemy jet circling and opening fire over the capital 🤣, which, like someone else mentioned, would be totally impossible in a post-9/11 world 😁, but hey, it is a Hollywood movie after all.

Despite all that, I don't regret carving out two hours for it. I'd say it's an interesting watch and worth your time. 🙂 7/10

p.s. the absolute craziest moment has to be the Secretary of State swearing on the flag while being dragged down the hallway 😁

That part where the gunship starts shredding everything is easily the best part of the whole movie.😍

Yeah, sure 😁 and that whole thing about dodging missiles like it’s nothing 😁
Not even gonna get started on how it took the military like fifteen minutes just to reach The White House, while those guys were basically tearing the whole place down in the meantime 🤣

I mean, I know it's all total nonsense, but honestly, I still found the movie pretty engaging, mostly because I was kind of hoping for a scenario like that anyway, so nothing really caught me off guard 😁

Why don't you start a poll so we can actually see how divided everyone really is?😁

Who actually sits down to watch an American action flick set inside The White House, only to act genuinely shocked by the sheer amount of slimy, over-the-top American sentimentality?
I haven't seen it, and I certainly won't—not even if Morgan were starring in it.
It’s the same logic that kept me from ever bothering with Air Force One.

Honestly, give me a break; the whole thing sounds enough to make me lose my lunch.

I guess that’s just my take, though, since I’ve been scrolling through a ton of reviews for this movie online. Obviously, I could be totally off base here 😁

The movie hits Blu-ray here in the States in just 15 days—seriously, don't waste your cash right now... just wait two weeks and grab the 1080p MKV version instead.

Just watched White House Down. 5/10. Way better than Olympus Has Fallen, which was a total 1/10. I didn't skip this one, though maybe I was a little 😉.
I’d have given it a 6/10 right before the end, but man, it completely fell apart in those last few minutes.

I caught White House Down recently. It’s arguably better than the other one. Not by a huge margin, mind you—it’s still just an action flick designed for mindless popcorn consumption, complete with plot holes, impossible scenarios, and far too much patriotism—but I suppose it’s more entertaining and executed with a bit more style than Olympus Has Fallen. If you enjoyed OHF, you might find this one worth a watch since it's slightly superior, though if you only have time for one movie about a siege on The White House, White House Down is probably the better bet.🙂

Mark Walker97 said:Everything mentioned is a mandatory, fundamental part of this genre. It just is. By buying a ticket, you’re essentially signing off on those tropes—but clearly, some people failed to grasp that.

I realized and accepted all of that based solely on the trailer—not to mention the very premise of the film itself—and I didn't even have to buy a ticket to know what was coming. However, the sheer level of cheap, pathetic sentimentality was something I truly didn't see coming. In that specific regard, they actually managed to exceed my lowest expectations.

Just more pro-American cowboy propaganda, I guess. Is it election season already? Or maybe they're just trying to paint us as this invincible, righteous nation standing against all the world's evil and terrorism.

It’s honestly staggering how many people here just seem to hate on America...

Just look back at those old war movies everyone used to praise—you know, the ones where they glorify child soldiers in the resistance or show hundreds of enemy troops being wiped out by a single soldier with an endless supply of ammo...

You get my point, right?

EDIT — Personally, I think Olympus is actually quite good—it shows combat and casualties realistically. The ending is its own thing, and I don't see why everyone is acting so shocked by it...🙂
It isn't some "Evergreen" classic that critics have been obsessing over for decades—those films where there isn't a drop of blood to be seen; a guy gets shot, grabs his wound, and just peacefully lies down on the floor.🤣🤣🤣🤣

man, give me a break. if someone near you just fired a shot into the air—like, some total coward doing it—I bet you'd be shitting your pants from pure terror. 😁

Not quite—and unlike many kids on this board, I actually served in the Gulf War—but you missed the point. When a bullet hits flesh it has to spray blood... that's what I mean... and there's plenty of that in this movie.
