Look, just because it's possible doesn't make it realistic. That’s like saying the movie *300* is actually a documentary or something. ☕

How so? Mass panic, blood everywhere... bullet dust in the walls... how is that not realistic?🤷
Fine, the lead actor didn't die—but it's as realistic as any movie can be. Let's ignore the fact that an enemy jet was hovering over Burger King and the soldiers were late...

I haven't seen 300—based on the cover, it looks like Gladiator, which wasn't even for me.

Look, if you want the real deal, you watch Ryan or Black Hawk Down. Everything else—all that nonsense where people just charge in there with machine guns like it’s some kind of joke? It’s a total laugh.

It’s a decent flick, but honestly? It just lacks that special spark. For me, it’s a passing grade at best.

Just watched the movie. It was a decent action flick, I guess, but there's no way you can claim this would actually happen in real life lol 🙄. Military jets would have taken it out dozens of miles before it even got anywhere near Washington DC. Especially since everyone’s been on edge since 9/11. Anyway, Roland Emmerich has "White House Down" coming out this September, which is pretty much the same vibe.

White House Down might already be out in theaters by now, if it hasn't finished its run entirely. I suppose it’s better than this one, so maybe give it a look if you ended up liking this 🙂

Over here in the States, it doesn't hit theaters until September 5th. Got it, I'll check it out. Does Foxx play Obama in that one? 😁

Honestly, this is better than the actual Die Hard reboot.😁

OHF is just a fundamentally flawed movie, from its core concept right through to the execution.

But I guess we’re all just sitting around waiting for WHD.

OHF is a masterpiece compared to White House Down—it’s been a long, long time since I’ve sat through something quite that mindless...

Between baby-faced Tatum and Obama rocking sneakers while shouting "get this trash outta my lawn," you have that irritatingly "clueless" girl filming everything on her phone and then waving the American flag at the end just to beg them not to shoot her.🙂

If nothing else, Butler could actually pass for a motherfucking secret agent... As for Tatum, I was basically just waiting for him to break out into a dance number.🤣

I mean, I’ve gotta side with what was said in the last post here. Just for the sake of comparison, I sat down and watched White House Down, and honestly? OHF is just a way better movie, period. Even looking at the cast, it leaves a much stronger impression on me. I think Butler is a way more solid choice for a hero like that, whereas Tatum feels kind of ridiculous trying to pull off that role.
WHD just feels like it's full of way more nonsense than OHF, and Noah Smith5 pointed out some of those gripes already. That girl with the cell phone was driving me absolutely nuts, and don't even get me started on that whole flag-waving scene... I'd rather not even go there.

Personally, I think the attack scenarios in White House Down feel much more grounded than those in Olympus Has Fallen. It seems far more plausible that a disgruntled Secret Service agent might try to take out the President rather than some sleeper agent orchestrating a massive terror cell of 500 people armed with military gear that somehow outclasses everything the US military possesses.
Then there's the issue of response times. The idea that an Army brigade would need 30 minutes to respond when Fort McNair is just a few blocks away—not to mention the other installations making up the Fort Myer area with all their armed personnel and Marines serving as the White House honor guard—just doesn't sit right with me.
In Olympus Has Fallen, the building falls during the very first action because a plane enters DC airspace without any warning. But since 9/11, it’s practically impossible to enter US airspace without following every single protocol. Any deviation from a planned flight path is treated as a direct threat to national security, and you're likely going down after the very first warning if you ignore it.
Someone mentioned electronic jamming being used by the plane, but under modern US Air Force protocols, an aircraft approaching the US without any prior notice is an immediate target. 😉

So, if I can look past the "Obama" branding on the sneakers, I'd say White House Down is the better film. 😁

Yeah, fair enough, I guess that’s true. But honestly, both of them have their own share of total nonsense, if you ask me. Like, in White House Down, I find it kind of hilarious how you’ve got thousands of soldiers just standing by the fence watching the building burn down, while some guys are chasing a limo and blasting away at it, or seeing Obama running around with a machine gun and stuff like that 🤣
And now that I’m actually sitting here thinking about it, White House Down has way bigger logic gaps; those planes attacking the house are just ridiculous, and don't even get me started on that missile dodging scene, which was even more absurd.

I honestly don't get how some people on this forum can act so shocked by the idea of someone taking over the White House or find the special forces' tactics illogical. Are you guys even aware of how ridiculous you look trying to sound smart?
This movie is way too vague to even have that kind of debate. It’s just a standard action flick with decent directing; it actually reminds me of those old-school 90s thrillers, which brings up a certain sense of nostalgia.
Looking for realism in movies like this is just a total waste of time.

So then what kind of heavy-handed, blood-soaked seriousness were they even looking for in Prometheus? Like, seriously? It’s a sci-fi fantasy monster horror flick.

Counterpoint here... why would Prometheus be better or worse then? In terms of how serious they are, they’re basically on the same level.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the payoff.
Look, as an action junkie, watching White House Down left me feeling like a total idiot,
but as a massive fan of sci-fi horror? Man, after Prometheus, I felt like I was sitting on top of the world.

See, I actually had the opposite experience. In the first case, I got the mindless action I was expecting, but the second one turned out to be just mediocre—mostly uninteresting, really. 😁

And honestly? This is already a step up from all those recent rehashes starring washed-up action stars we've been seeing lately.

I caught this movie today and I have to say—I really enjoyed it. I was looking for some solid action, and this definitely delivered.
In my opinion, it’s the perfect pick for a Saturday night when you just want to kick back and relax in front of the TV.

Here’s my actual take on this flick if you actually bother to use your brain for once:

God, I hate Hollywood.
1. Seriously, how the hell did they even land that plane there??????????????
2. CGI gets more pathetic with every single movie coming out.
3. One minute they're just cruising, the next they've totally taken over the White House and the bunker where the President is hiding—since when was it that easy to bypass the Secret Service? (Pro tip: look up SALT if you want to see how things actually work)
4. I bet the script looked exactly like this:
EXT. WHITE HOUSE - AFTERNOON
Bunch of charlie's penetrate The White house and there's nothing US Army, secret service or D.C. Police can do 🤣
Or better yet, right in the middle of the movie, the hero starts chatting up the villain and casually mentions he saved the President's son—total FACEPALM moment.
And don't even get me started on them having HYDRA 6. Like, where did they even get that? And then suddenly—bam—it's all "we'll explain later" (spoiler: they won't, they probably just picked it up at a flea market).

What else...

It feels like the director has some weird fetish for headshots; like 90% of the kills are just brains being splattered everywhere.

Also, that whole opening bit where the First Lady dies was completely pointless.🤷

But alright, bottom line: it's a solid action flick in the way I like 'em—zero thinking required, just pure chaos and explosions. If it were called Die Hard, it would fit perfectly...

Now I gotta go watch the other one...
